Alveringem (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑlvərɪŋ(ɣ)ɛm] ; West Flemish: Oalveringem) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Alveringem proper, Beveren-aan-de-IJzer, Gijverinkhove, Hoogstade, Izenberge, Leisele, Oeren, Sint-Rijkers and Stavele. On January 1, 2006, Alveringem had a total population of 4,887. The total area is 80.01 km² which gives a population density of 61 inhabitants per km². The mayor of Alveringem is Gerard Liefooghe (Gemeentebelangen) since 2006. Cyriel Verschaeve was as a priest attached to the parish of Alveringem and re-buried near Alveringem's church in 1973.

Lo-Reninge (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌloːˈreːnɪŋə]; West Flemish: Lo-Rênienge) is a city and municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Lo, Noordschote, Pollinkhove and Reninge. On January 1, 2006, Lo-Reninge had a total population of 3,306. The total area is 62.94 km2 which gives a population density of 53 inhabitants per km2. The Old Town Hall of Lo, built between 1565 and 1566, and its belfry were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999 as part of the Belfries of Belgium and France site.It is the birthplace of Flemish painter Jacques-Albert Senave.

Oudekapelle is a small village in the Belgian province of West Flanders and a part ("deelgemeente") of the municipality of Diksmuide. Oudekapelle is a small village with only about ten houses around the church and farms on its territory. It has about 150 inhabitants. Oudekapelle was an independent municipality until 1971, when it became a part of a newly formed municipality of Driekapellen, together with Nieuwkapelle en Sint-Jacobskapelle. In 1977, Driekapellen itself became a part of Diksmuide.

The Old Town Hall of Lo is a historic landmark in the municipality of Lo-Reninge, in the Belgian province of West Flanders. Formerly the seat of the municipal government, the building is now a hotel and restaurant. The hall was built in 1565-1566 in Renaissance style by Joos Staesin from Ypres, in replacement of an older, dilapidated town hall. At the corner of the building is a belfry tower, supported in the front by two Tuscan columns. The four walls at the top the tower end in step gables, with louvered openings to let out sound from the bell chamber. The lower part of the tower, with round arches over the columns, encloses a platform from which proclamations were announced. On the middle of the building's three main stories, a distinctly Flemish dining hall has been preserved, with an elegant mantelpiece, oaken ceiling and old windows glazed with the coats of arms of nobles and clergymen. In 1999, the hall and the belfry were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the Belfries of Belgium and France site, because of its Renaissance architecture and its testimony to the civic (not religious) influence and its impmortance in the granting of civil liberties.

Lo is a place in the Belgian province of West Flanders in Belgium and a borough of the municipality Lo-Reninge. Lo is a small medieval town and the community Lo-Reninge of which it is a part obtained the city title in 1985. The Old Town Hall of Lo, built between 1565-1566, and its belfry were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999 as part of the Belfries of Belgium and France site.Lo is notable as the location of Caesarsboom, an ancient European Yew designated a national monument of Belgium.

Caesarsboom (Caesar's Tree) is a very old tree whose precise age is unknown but is believed to be over 2000 years in age. The ancient tree grows in Lo, a town in Lo-Reninge, a municipality of the province of West-Vlaanderen of Belgium. Its species is Taxus baccata, common name European Yew. The tree is designated a national monument of Belgium.According to a long-held local legend, Julius Caesar stopped at this tree during his military campaign in the area en route to Britannia in 55 BC, tied his horse to it, and took a nap in the shadow of its foliage. According to one source, although the road passing by the tree might date from the era of Imperial Rome, it is not likely that Julius Caesar came to this area. The tree grows beside the last extant city gate, of four medieval arches built in the 14th century (and restored both in 1852 and 1991); at the time the town was less than 400 meters in diameter. Caesarsboom stands adjacent to a house called "Het Damberd" ("The Draught-board House") which written sources from 1499 show once housed the oldest of the four breweries which used to exist in the town of Lo.

Nieuwkapelle is a town in Diksmuide, a part of Belgium.

Pervijze (French: Pervyse, English Pervyse) is a small rural village in the Belgian province of West Flanders, and a part ("Deelgemeente") of the municipality of Diksmuide. Pervijze has an area of 12.23 km² and almost 900 inhabitants. Before the municipal mergers in 1971, Pervijze was an independent municipality. In 1971, Lampernisse, Oostkerke and Stuivekenskerke were added to the municipality. In 1977 Pervijze became a part of Diksmuide. During World War I, Pervijze was situated near the Yser Front and was destroyed. Two British nurses, Elsie Knocker and Mairi Chisholm, became known as "The Madonnas of Pervyse" in the British press. In Brussels (more precisely in Etterbeek), there is a street called "Rue de Pervyse" and "Pervijzestraat".

Pollinkhove is a village in Lo-Reninge, in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The Lovaart canal separates the village centre from the small city of Lo. The River IJzer forms the south boundary. The church and parish are named after Saint Bartholomew. The gothic Saint Bartholowew's church has a 63-metre-high (207 ft) tower dating from the 16th century.

The Ieperlee (or Ypres-Ijzer Canal) is a canalized river that rises in Heuvelland in the Belgian province of West Flanders and flows via the city of Ypres (Ieper) into the Yser at Fort Knokke. The river is 17 kilometres (11 mi) long. Its name is derived from iep, the Dutch word for elm. It gave its name to the city of Ypres. In the 11th century the river was canalized to link the city, which had a thriving cloth industry, to the sea. Even in 1842, some 2,034 boats still passed the lock at Boezinge. Today, the canal is only used for recreational purposes. During the First World War, the river was part of the frontline. It linked the Ypres Salient, held by the French and English, to the Yser Front, held by the Belgian Army (see Dodengang).
