Ortigosa is a Portuguese village and former civil parish located in the municipality of Leiria, with an area of 12.86 km2 (4.97 sq mi) and 1971 inhabitants in 2011. In 2013 the parish merged into the new parish Souto da Carpalhosa e Ortigosa. Its patron is Santo Amaro.

Monte Real is a town (vila in Portuguese) and a former civil parish in the municipality of Leiria, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Monte Real e Carvide. It covers an area of 12.23 km2 and has a population of 2,778 people. Monte Real, which in English means Royal Mount, was once a municipality (pt: concelho), before being annexed to Leiria municipality. Monte Real hosts an air base (base aérea), Monte Real Air Base for the Portuguese Air Force. Monte Real is also known for its hot springs, (Termas de Monte Real).

Monte Real Air Base, officially designated as Air Force Base No. 5 (Portuguese: Base Aérea Nº 5, BA5), is a Portuguese Air Force (PoAF) air base located in Monte Real, Leiria, Portugal. Its mission is to guarantee the readiness and deployment of the air force units based there. Since its opening in October 1959, the base has been home to the air force's jet fighter aircraft, with several of the units based there being equipped with F-86F Sabre, Fiat G.91, T-33 Shooting Star, T-38 Talon and A-7 Corsair II aircraft. The base is currently home to two F-16 Fighting Falcon squadrons.

The Comunidade Intermunicipal da Região de Leiria (Portuguese pronunciation: [ʁɨʒiˈɐ̃w dɨ lɐjˈɾi.ɐ]; English: Leiria Region) is an administrative division in western Portugal. It was created in 2014, replacing the former Associação de Municípios da Região de Leiria created in 2009. Since January 2015, Região de Leiria is also a NUTS3 subregion of Centro Region, that covers the same area as the intermunicipal community. The seat of the intermunicipal community is Leiria. Região de Leiria comprises a large part of the former district of Leiria. The population in 2011 was 294,632, in an area of 2,449.12 km².

The Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa (English: Dr. Magalhães Pessoa Stadium) is a football stadium in Leiria, Portugal, built as a venue for the UEFA Euro 2004 finals held in Portugal. It is the home for Leiria's main football club, União de Leiria. It was designed by Tomás Taveira in 2003. The stadium contains different coloured seats as well as an athletics track and has a capacity of 24 000 (22 000 used). The stadium has also hosted the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (the Portuguese Super Cup) in 2006 and 2007 and the final of the league cup Taça da Liga in 2009, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Leiria (Portuguese pronunciation: [lɐjˈɾi.ɐ] ) is a city and municipality in the Central Region of Portugal. It is the 2nd largest city in that same region, with a municipality population of 128,640 (as of 2021) in an area of 565.09 square kilometres (218.18 sq mi). It is the seat of its own district and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Leiria-Fátima. The city is part of the historical province of Beira Litoral.

The Diocese of Leiria–Fátima (Latin: Dioecesis Leiriensis–Fatimensis) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic church in Portugal. It is suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the Metropolitan Patriarchate of Lisbon.The main church of the episcopal see is the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Conception, in Leiria. It also has two minor basilicas, both in Fátima: the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Basilica of the Holy Trinity, and also a World Heritage Site: the Monastery of Saint Mary of the Victory, in Batalha, as a decommissioned former Cathedral (now ruined): Church of Our Lady of Pena.

The Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral (Portuguese: Sé Catedral de Nossa Senhora da Conceição) also called Leiria Cathedral It is a Catholic church built in the center of the city of Leiria, Portugal.The church was built between 1550 and 1574, according to a project by architect Afonso Alvares. The city had been elevated to a diocese in 1545, thanks to a request of John III to Pope Paul III. Because the churches of Nossa Senhora da Pena and San Pedro were too small for the population, building a new one is needed suitable for the new church dignity. The first stone was laid on August 1, 1550, becoming one of the most important buildings of the late Renaissance in Portugal. The building was later altered successive stages, according to the taste of the bishops of the diocese. The cathedral was partially destroyed in the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, so reforms that gave the current robust appearance were made. Of the original construction, the front facade, just 3 remaining panels at the entrance, two of which correspond to the central or higher. The building was also damaged during the Peninsular War in 1811, French troops set fire, destroying much of its interior decoration.
