The American Institute of Parliamentarians (AIP) is a not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1958. The objectives of AIP are to promote the use and teaching of parliamentary procedure, as well as the training and certification of parliamentarians.This organization had 48 members in its first year. It has grown to more than 1,200 members throughout the world, with most of the members residing in North America.AIP uses many parliamentary authorities in its education programs. This diversity allows members and students to be aware of the common parliamentary procedures, understand the history and theory of why certain procedures exist, and advise organizations on the availability of different procedures.For one of the parliamentary authorities, The Standard Code of Parliamentary Procedure, AIP was involved in its revision following the death of the original author.Many members of AIP are also members of the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP), and both organizations have worked together with joint NAP/AIP Chapters, collaboration on a Code of Ethics for Parliamentarians, and joint conferences. One of the main differences between the two organizations is that NAP focuses on Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised (RONR), while AIP stresses proficiency and familiarity with a variety of parliamentary authorities.

The Doctor's Building is a six-story commercial building in Nashville, Tennessee that was constructed in 1916 (some sources say 1910) and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.The building site was the former location of the home of railroad magnate Colonel Edmund William Cole, with his home being the last 19th-century mansion on Church Street. A new building, known as "The Doctor's Building" was then constructed as a three-story building, with medical offices on the upper floors, and retail shops on the ground floor. A few years later (in either 1916 or 1921), it had three more stories added, increasing its size to 100,000 square feet (9,300 m2). The design, by architect Edward Emmett Dougherty of the architectural firm "Dougherty and Gardner" was of the elaborate Beaux-Arts or Renaissance Revival style. The exterior is sheathed with glazed polychrome terra cotta.In the 1940s and 1950s, the building consisted of office space for many of the city's doctors and dentists.

The Renaissance Nashville Hotel is a hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. The building is 385 feet high with 31 floors. The hotel was physically connected to the Nashville Convention Center until the demolition of the convention center in June 2017. Construction began on the 5th + Broadway complex at the location of the former convention center in early 2018, and the Renaissance Hotel will be located at the northwest corner of that development. The 5th + Broadway complex has a predicted completion date of spring 2020. The hotel contains 649 rooms, 24 suites, 25 meeting rooms with 31,000 sq ft of meeting space, and 2 concierge levels including a Starbucks coffee shop, 2 lounges, and a full-service restaurant. One of the lounges is located in an enclosed bridge walkway, spanning above Commerce Street, which connects the hotel to a parking garage across the street. This walkway was severely damaged during a 1998 tornado in downtown Nashville.In addition to being a hotel, the building also contains office space in its top 6 floors, this portion being known as CitySpace. These office suites are serviced by a separate bank of elevators accessible on the third floor.The hotel opened in 1987 as the Stouffer Nashville Hotel. It became the Stouffer Renaissance Nashville Hotel in 1993 and then the Renaissance Nashville Hotel in 1996.
