North Branch Gale River

The South Branch of the Gale River is a 5.1-mile-long (8.2 km) river in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the United States. Via the Gale River, it is a tributary of the Ammonoosuc River and part of the Connecticut River watershed. The South Branch rises on the north slope of Mount Lafayette in the town of Franconia, New Hampshire, west of Garfield Ridge. It drops rapidly to the north and joins the North Branch to form the Gale River at the crossing of U.S. Route 3. The South Branch provides drinking water for the town of Bethlehem, New Hampshire.

Mount Agassiz is a peak in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with an elevation of 2,378 feet (725 m). It is located in the town of Bethlehem in Grafton County. Originally named Peaked Hill, it is named in honor of Louis Agassiz.An observation tower was built at the summit by 1877, and an auto road was opened circa 1932. Prior to construction of the auto road, an automobile first reached the summit in 1926, via a carriage road, due to a misunderstanding by the driver. A ski trail was cut in 1936–37, with a rope tow added three seasons later; the rope tow operated into the 1980s. In the mid-1950s, the auto road was rebuilt and a snack bar was added at the summit area. Plans during the early 1960s to greatly expand the ski area, including construction of a monorail, never materialized.The property is privately owned; the current owner does not prohibit hikers.

The main village of the town, where 826 people resided at the 2020 census, is defined as the Bethlehem census-designated place (CDP), and is located at the junction of U.S. Route 302 with New Hampshire Route 142. The town also includes the villages of Maplewood and Pierce Bridge.

Mount Garfield is a mountain located in Grafton County, New Hampshire. The mountain is part of the White Mountains. Mt. Garfield is flanked to the east by South Twin Mountain, and to the southwest along Garfield Ridge by Mount Lafayette. The south faces of Garfield drain into the Franconia Branch of the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River, through the Pemigewasset Wilderness, thence into the Pemigewasset and Merrimack rivers, and into the Gulf of Maine at Newburyport, Massachusetts. The north faces of Garfield drain into the north and south branches of the Gale River, thence into the Ammonoosuc and Connecticut rivers, and into Long Island Sound at Old Saybrook, Connecticut. The Appalachian Trail, a 2,170-mile (3,500-km) National Scenic Trail from Georgia to Maine, runs along the ridge, across the summit of Garfield.

The Colonial Theatre in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, is a historic movie theater built in 1915 and one of the oldest continuously operating movie theaters in the United States. When the Colonial opened its doors, the era of the grand hotels was in full swing and Bethlehem was a premier destination resort town. Because of its sophisticated clientele the Colonial quickly became a venue for movie studios to test market their films. It was designed in the Egyptian Revival style by Francis J. Kennard of Tampa, Florida. The property was listed on the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Felsengarten (German for "stone garden") is a historic summer house on Lewis Hill Road in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. The two story house was built between 1896 and 1900, and was the summer residence of German-American conductor Theodore Thomas and his wife Rose Fay. Thomas was an influential figure in popularizing classical orchestral music in the United States during the 19th century. The house and garden were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The Little River is a 7.4-mile-long (11.9 km) river in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Ammonoosuc River and part of the Connecticut River watershed. The Little River rises in the White Mountain National Forest in a small cirque in the Twin Range, with Zealand Mountain to the east, Mount Guyot to the south, and South Twin Mountain to the west. The river flows north into the town of Bethlehem, through a deep valley between North Twin Mountain to the west and Mount Hale to the east. Eventually the river enters the town of Carroll near the community of Twin Mountain, passes under U.S. Route 3, and ends at the Ammonoosuc River. The Little River is a public water supply for the village of Twin Mountain. A portion of the river is paralleled by (and crossed three times by) the North Twin Trail, a hiking trail.

Nubble Peak, also known as The Peak Above The Nubble, is a mountain located in Grafton County, New Hampshire. The mountain is part of the Twin Range of the White Mountains. A rock outcrop on its northwestern ridge is known as The Nubble, but topographic maps identify the formation as Haystack Mountain. Nubble Peak is flanked to the south by North Twin Mountain. The mountain is officially trailless and is one of New England's hundred highest summits. Nubble Peak stands within the watershed of the Ammonoosuc River, which drains into the upper Connecticut River, and into Long Island Sound in Connecticut. The east and southeast faces of Nubble Peak drain into the Little River, thence into the Ammonoosuc River. The northwest side of Nubble Peak drains into Haystack Brook, thence into the Ammonoosuc. The southwest end of Nubble Peak drains to the North Branch of the Gale River, another tributary of the Ammonoosuc River.

The Franconia Range is a mountain range located in the White Mountains of the U.S. state of New Hampshire. It is the second-highest range of peaks (after the Presidential Range) in the White Mountains. Franconia Ridge is a prominent ridge which forms the backbone of the range, stringing together all of its major summits.

Mount Lafayette is a 5,249-foot (1,600 m) mountain at the northern end of the Franconia Range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, United States. It lies in the town of Franconia in Grafton County, and appears on the New England Fifty Finest list of the most topographically prominent peaks in New England. The mountain's upper reaches are located in the alpine zone, an area where only dwarf vegetation exists due to the harsh climate.

Echo Lake is a 38.2-acre (15.5 ha) water body located in Franconia Notch in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, at the foot of Cannon Mountain. The lake is in the Connecticut River watershed, near the height of land in Franconia Notch; water from the lake's outlet flows north via Lafayette Brook to the Gale River, then the Ammonoosuc River, and finally the Connecticut River to Long Island Sound, an arm of the Atlantic Ocean. Echo Lake lies in Franconia Notch State Park. The park's Cannon Mountain ski slopes rise directly to the southwest of the lake. Interstate 93 (the Franconia Notch Parkway) runs along the lake's eastern shore, and New Hampshire Route 18 passes the lake's northern shore, where a state park swimming beach is located. Artists Bluff, a hill with open ledges, rises north of the lake and provides views south over the lake into the center of Franconia Notch. The lake is classified as a coldwater fishery, with observed species including brook trout.Echo Lake is called Drown Pond in a 1796 map and was listed as 25 acres, located in the 12th lots in the 8th and 9th ranges in Franconia. A deed to Moses Howland from Alexander Jesseman in 1866 refer to the junction of the Gale River and Pond Brook.
