Nubble Peak

The Little River is a 7.4-mile-long (11.9 km) river in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Ammonoosuc River and part of the Connecticut River watershed. The Little River rises in the White Mountain National Forest in a small cirque in the Twin Range, with Zealand Mountain to the east, Mount Guyot to the south, and South Twin Mountain to the west. The river flows north into the town of Bethlehem, through a deep valley between North Twin Mountain to the west and Mount Hale to the east. Eventually the river enters the town of Carroll near the community of Twin Mountain, passes under U.S. Route 3, and ends at the Ammonoosuc River. The Little River is a public water supply for the village of Twin Mountain. A portion of the river is paralleled by (and crossed three times by) the North Twin Trail, a hiking trail.

Mount Garfield is a mountain located in Grafton County, New Hampshire. The mountain is part of the White Mountains. Mt. Garfield is flanked to the east by South Twin Mountain, and to the southwest along Garfield Ridge by Mount Lafayette. The south faces of Garfield drain into the Franconia Branch of the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River, through the Pemigewasset Wilderness, thence into the Pemigewasset and Merrimack rivers, and into the Gulf of Maine at Newburyport, Massachusetts. The north faces of Garfield drain into the north and south branches of the Gale River, thence into the Ammonoosuc and Connecticut rivers, and into Long Island Sound at Old Saybrook, Connecticut. The Appalachian Trail, a 2,170-mile (3,500-km) National Scenic Trail from Georgia to Maine, runs along the ridge, across the summit of Garfield.

Carroll is a town in Coös County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 820 at the 2020 census. The two largest villages are Twin Mountain and Bretton Woods. Carroll is an important access point for recreational areas in the White Mountains, including many 4,000-footers, the Zealand River area, the Presidential Range, and the Presidential Dry River Wilderness. The town is home to the Mount Washington Hotel at Bretton Woods and to the Highland Center at Crawford Notch, the Appalachian Mountain Club's four-season lodge. Carroll is part of the Berlin, NH–VT Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The South Branch of the Gale River is a 5.1-mile-long (8.2 km) river in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the United States. Via the Gale River, it is a tributary of the Ammonoosuc River and part of the Connecticut River watershed. The South Branch rises on the north slope of Mount Lafayette in the town of Franconia, New Hampshire, west of Garfield Ridge. It drops rapidly to the north and joins the North Branch to form the Gale River at the crossing of U.S. Route 3. The South Branch provides drinking water for the town of Bethlehem, New Hampshire.

The North Branch of the Gale River is a 5.8-mile-long (9.3 km) river in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the United States. Via the Gale River, it is a tributary of the Ammonoosuc River and part of the Connecticut River watershed. The North Branch rises in the valley between South Twin and Galehead mountains, just north of the AMC Galehead Hut. It flows northwest out of the mountains, largely followed by the Gale River Trail (a hiking trail), and joins the South Branch to form the Gale River at the crossing of U.S. Route 3. The river flows entirely through the White Mountain National Forest, except for a short section where it passes through a small reservoir owned by the town of Littleton water department.

Mount Lafayette is a 5,249-foot (1,600 m) mountain at the northern end of the Franconia Range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, United States. It lies in the town of Franconia in Grafton County, and appears on the New England Fifty Finest list of the most topographically prominent peaks in New England. The mountain's upper reaches are located in the alpine zone, an area where only dwarf vegetation exists due to the harsh climate.

The Franconia Range is a mountain range located in the White Mountains of the U.S. state of New Hampshire. It is the second-highest range of peaks (after the Presidential Range) in the White Mountains. Franconia Ridge is a prominent ridge which forms the backbone of the range, stringing together all of its major summits.

Mount Agassiz is a peak in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with an elevation of 2,378 feet (725 m). It is located in the town of Bethlehem in Grafton County. Originally named Peaked Hill, it is named in honor of Louis Agassiz.An observation tower was built at the summit by 1877, and an auto road was opened circa 1932. Prior to construction of the auto road, an automobile first reached the summit in 1926, via a carriage road, due to a misunderstanding by the driver. A ski trail was cut in 1936–37, with a rope tow added three seasons later; the rope tow operated into the 1980s. In the mid-1950s, the auto road was rebuilt and a snack bar was added at the summit area. Plans during the early 1960s to greatly expand the ski area, including construction of a monorail, never materialized.The property is privately owned; the current owner does not prohibit hikers.

Profile Lake is a 13-acre (53,000 m2) water body located in Franconia Notch in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, at the foot of Cannon Mountain. The lake was given its name due to its location directly beneath the Old Man of the Mountain, a famous rock formation which collapsed in 2003. The lake is near the height of land in Franconia Notch; the lake's outlet is the Pemigewasset River, which flows south to the Merrimack River and ultimately the Gulf of Maine (Atlantic Ocean) at Newburyport, Massachusetts. The lake is classified as a coldwater fishery, with observed species including brook trout. Only fly fishing is allowed at Profile Lake.

Mount Flume is a 4,328-foot (1,319 m) mountain at the southern end of the Franconia Range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, United States. Mount Flume is the lowest in elevation of the peaks in the Franconia Range that are accessible by official hiking trails. The summit marks the western border of the Pemigewasset Wilderness within the White Mountain National Forest. From the summit, there are outstanding views of Franconia Notch and the Kinsman Range to the west and the Franconia Range to the north, with limited views of the Pemigewasset Wilderness and the Twin Range to the east.

Mount Liberty is a 4,459-foot-high (1,359 m) mountain in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Overlooking Franconia Notch, it is part of Franconia Ridge, the second highest mountain group in the Whites after the Presidential Range. It lies south of Mount Lafayette, the highest summit along the ridge, and is listed among the Appalachian Mountain Club's "four-thousand footers".

Owl's Head, or Owlshead, is a 3,258-foot (993 m) peak of Cherry Mountain, in Carroll, New Hampshire, United States, and (at least since 2001) the White Mountain National Forest (WMNF). The lower reaches of the mountain also extend northward into the town of Jefferson. It is known both as the namesake of the nearby Owl's Head Highway, and as a hiking destination on the Owl's Head Trail. In 2005 the Trust for Public Land (TPL) acquired private land including about three-quarters of the trail, and a road easement that could provide access in place of the part of the trail lying on land that remains private. TPL at that time anticipated transferring its land to the U.S. Forest Service in the following year, for inclusion in the WMNF.
