Exel, Netherlands

Ampsen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑmp.sə(n)]) is an estate, castle, and hamlet in the municipality of Lochem in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. Administratively, it is part of the village of Exel.

Lochem is a railway station just north of Lochem, Netherlands. The station opened on 1 November 1865 and is located on the Zutphen–Glanerbeek railway (Staatslijn D). The services are operated by Syntus. The station is located on the opposite side of the Twentekanaal to Lochem, but is a short walk or bus ride.

Lochem (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlɔxəm] ) is a city and municipality in the province of Gelderland in the Eastern Netherlands. In 2005, it merged with the municipality of Gorssel, retaining the name of Lochem. As of 2019, it had a population of 33,590.

The Nettelhorsterbrug is a bridge being built by the Royal BAM Group over the Twentekanaal as part of provincial road N346 in Lochem, the Netherlands. The bridge's name pays homage to the nearby hamlet Nettelhorst, chosen through an electoral process. On 21 February 2024 at 11:00 am Central European Time (UTC+1), a segment of the Nettelhorsterbrug under construction collapsed, resulting in two fatalities and two to five injuries.

Verwolde is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It existed between 1818 and 1854, when it was merged with Laren. The area is now a part of Lochem.

Armhoede is a hamlet in the municipality of Lochem in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. It is located two kilometers northeast of Lochem on the canal from Zutphen to Enschede. Administratively, it is largely part of the village of Exel. The name Armhoede (Dutch for 'poverty') would originally have been the name of a meadow nearby, which served as a general pasture for the less wealthy cattle herders.There is a landfill near Armhoede, which was closed in 2004 and has now been covered. A solar park has been opened on the site of the former landfill.

Laren is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Lochem. Laren was a separate municipality until 1971, when it was merged with Lochem.

Barchem is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland, located in the municipality Lochem, about 15 km east of the city of Zutphen. It was first mentioned in 1474 as Borchem, and means "settlement on/near a hill". It used to be a little agricultural settlement, and used to be centred around the Barchemse Enk.: 1  In 1840, it was home to 346 people. Later, the centre moved to the road from Lochem to Ruurlo where a toll house was constructed in 1857. In 1860, the church was built at the intersection with the road from Borculo to Zwiep. During World War II, Barchem was the scene of heavy fighting.: 1  There are 25 commonwealth graves on the general cemetery.

Achterhoek (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈax.tər.ˌɦuk]) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Hof van Twente, about 2 km northwest of the village Markelo.Achter is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Markelo. It was first mentioned in 1867 as Achterhoek, and means "far away place". The hamlet consists of about 30 houses. Until 2001, Achterhoek was a part of the municipality of Markelo.

Holten (Dutch Low Saxon: Hooltn) is a village in the municipality of Rijssen-Holten in the Dutch province of Overijssel. Holten is located in a forested area just south of the Holterberg, a 65-metre (210 ft) hill, and is part of the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park. The National Park is the only area in the Netherlands in which the black grouse (in Dutch: korhoen) can be found. This grouse population is on the brink of extinction, so parts of the National Park are closed to the public during its breeding season.

Holten is a railway station located in Holten, Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 September 1888 and is located on the Deventer–Almelo railway. It closed on 15 May 1938, but reopened on 1 June 1940. The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

Ruurlo is a village and former municipality in the province of Gelderland in the eastern part of the Netherlands. The town has a station on the Zutphen to Winterswijk railway line, and is served by trains every half-hour in both directions. In the evening there is an hourly service. Ruurlo Castle lies just outside the town and is a popular place for weddings. The castle was used as the town hall until 1 January 2005, when the municipality Ruurlo merged with the municipalities of Borculo, Neede and Eibergen into the municipality of Berkelland.
