Munnekezijl (West Frisian: Muntsjesyl; Gronings: Muntjesiel) is the easternmost village in Noardeast-Fryslân, Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of 488 in January 2017. Before 2019, the village was part of the Kollumerland en Nieuwkruisland municipality. There is a windmill in the village, the Munnekezijlstermolen.

The Lauwers (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlʌu.ərs]) is a river in the Netherlands. It forms part of the border between the provinces of Friesland and Groningen. From the 730s to Widukind's defeat in 785, it was part of the border of the Frankish Empire.The former Lauwerszee and the present-day Lauwersmeer are both named after the river, which as a small stream has its source southeast of the village of Surhuisterveen. Near Gerkesklooster/Stroobos, it crosses the Prinsesmargrietkanaal/van Starkenborghkanaal. The Lauwers achieves the width of a true river at the place that it gains its tributary, the Oude Vaart, near the Schalkendam. Further along its course, the Lauwers splits into two branches, the Frisian Oude Lauwers and the Zijldiep, in Groningen province. The Lauwers meets the sea at the Wadden Sea, emptying into a channel between the islands of Schiermonnikoog and Rottumerplaat/Rottumeroog, which can be viewed as the continuation of the river.

Grijpskerk (Dutch pronunciation: [ɣrɛipsˈkɛr(ə)k]; Gronings: Gruupskerk or Griepskerk [χɾypsˈkɛːk, χɾips-]; West Frisian: Gryptsjerk [ɡripˈtsjɛrk]) is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Westerkwartier, about 18 km west of the city of Groningen. Grijpskerk was a separate municipality until 1990, when it was merged with Zuidhorn.

Lauwerzijl (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌlʌuərˈzɛil]; Gronings: Lauwerziel or 't Sieltje) is a village in the municipality of Westerkwartier in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. As of 2021, it had a population of 195. Until 1990 the village belonged to the former municipality of Oldehove, then until 2019 to the former municipality of Zuidhorn.

Kommerzijl (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkɔ.mərˌzɛi̯l]; Gronings: Kommerziel), until the end of the 17th century called Opslachterzijl, is a linear village in the municipality of Westerkwartier in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands, located on the Kommerzijlsterdiep, which continues after the village as Kommerzijlsterriet and flows into the Reitdiep. To the west of the village lies the Ruigewaard and to the east the Humsterland. As of 2021, Kommerzijl had a population of 505.

Grijpskerk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɣrɛipskɛr(ə)k]; abbreviation: Gk) is an unstaffed railway station in Grijpskerk, Netherlands. It is located on the Harlingen–Nieuweschans railway between Buitenpost and Zuidhorn. The station was opened on 1 June 1866. The train service is operated by Arriva.
