Grijpskerk

Grijpskerk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɣrɛipskɛr(ə)k]; abbreviation: Gk) is an unstaffed railway station in Grijpskerk, Netherlands. It is located on the Harlingen–Nieuweschans railway between Buitenpost and Zuidhorn. The station was opened on 1 June 1866. The train service is operated by Arriva.

Kommerzijl (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkɔ.mərˌzɛi̯l]; Gronings: Kommerziel), until the end of the 17th century called Opslachterzijl, is a linear village in the municipality of Westerkwartier in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands, located on the Kommerzijlsterdiep, which continues after the village as Kommerzijlsterriet and flows into the Reitdiep. To the west of the village lies the Ruigewaard and to the east the Humsterland. As of 2021, Kommerzijl had a population of 505.

Niezijl (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈni.zɛi̯l]; Gronings: Nijziel), historically Bomsterzijl (probably from bom, meaning 'low, water-enclosed piece of land'), is a village in the municipality of Westerkwartier in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. The village is located between Grijpskerk and Zuidhorn on the N355, the trunk highway from Leeuwarden to Groningen. As of 2021, Niezijl had a population of 420. The village is intersected by two canals, the Niezijlsterdiep and the Hoerediep. The village originally belonged to the Juursemakluft in the parish Grijpskerk. It got its own church in 1651 and has been an independent church ever since. South of the village, on the Van Starkenborgh Canal, is a restored polder mill, the Zwakkenburgermolen.

The Munnekezijlstermolen is a smock mill in Munnekezijl, Friesland, Netherlands which was built in 1856 and is in working order. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument.

Grootegast (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɣroːtəˌɣɑst] ; Gronings: Grodegast; West Frisian: Gruttegast) is a village and former municipality in the northeastern Netherlands. It is the sister city of Kingston, Tasmania. The municipality was merged into the municipality of Westerkwartier on 1 January 2019.

Before 2019, the village was part of the Kollumerland en Nieuwkruisland municipality. There is a windmill in the village, the Munnekezijlstermolen.

Oldekerk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɔl.dəˌkɛrk]; Gronings: Ollekèrk) is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Westerkwartier, about 15 km west of the city of Groningen. Oldekerk was a separate municipality until 1990, when it was merged with Grootegast.

Lutjegast (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlʏcəˌɣɑst]) is a village in the municipality of Westerkwartier in Groningen, Netherlands. It had a population of around 1,125 in January 2017.

Westerkwartier (West Frisian: Westerkertier) is a municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of Groningen. The municipality was formed on 1 January 2019, by the merger of the municipalities of Grootegast, Leek, Marum, Zuidhorn and partly Winsum.
