Peachtree is a community located in Cherokee County, North Carolina. It is named after the numerous peach trees found in the area. The local schools are Peachtree Elementary School, Murphy and Andrews Middle School, and Murphy and Andrews High School. Due to its central location near the border of Cherokee and Clay counties, Peachtree has also been home to major institutions serving the area. The Cherokee County Prison Camp opened in 1939 but was abandoned after 25 years following multiple escapes. Its property became the main campus of Tri-County Community College, which opened in 1964 and serves Cherokee, Clay, and Graham counties. Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital, the only hospital in North Carolina west of Franklin and Bryson City, was founded in Peachtree in 1979.In 2003, Moog Inc. established a manufacturing facility in Peachtree employing more than 400 people to build motors and blowers for the aerospace industry. Also, the $20 million, 66,000-square-foot Cherokee County School of Innovation & Technology campus opened in 2023.Additionally, the John C. Campbell Folk School is located 2 miles (3.2 km) southeast in nearby Brasstown.

Brasstown is an unincorporated community located mostly within Clay County, North Carolina, United States, though roughly one third of Brasstown is within the adjacent Cherokee County. Brasstown Creek travels through the community and separates the two counties.

Tri-County Community College is a public community college in Murphy, North Carolina. It was founded in 1964 and is part of the North Carolina Community College System.

Tri-County Early College High School (TCEC) in the Peachtree community of Murphy, North Carolina, is a North Carolina Cooperative Innovative High School, part of Cherokee County Schools, but also serves the Clay County School District. Although Tri-County Community College includes Graham County in its service area, TCEC does not. As of 2025 it had a full-time teaching staff of 14 teachers, with an average of 14 students per teacher. In 2024-25 enrollment was about 177.

Brasstown is the westernmost township, and one of the six townships of Clay County, North Carolina, United States. The other five are Hayesville, Hiawassee, Shooting Creek, Sweetwater, and Tusquittee. By area, it is the third smallest township in Clay County.

Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital is a hospital located in Murphy, North Carolina certified by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. It is the only hospital in the state west of Bryson City and Franklin. The hospital is licensed for 191 beds. Of the 191 beds, 120 are nursing home beds, 57 are general beds, and 14 are beds for patients with Alzheimer's disease.It is affiliated with Erlanger Health System, based in Chattanooga, TN. After acquiring the hospital in 2018, Erlanger renamed the facility from its original name "Murphy Medical Center" to "Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital."

Brasstown Creek is a stream in the U.S. states of Georgia and North Carolina. The 8.5-mile (13.7 km) long stream is a tributary to the Hiwassee River. Brasstown Creek took its name from the now-extinct Native American village of Brasstown. In 1854, Clay County's first white settler, John Covington Moore, bought land on Brasstown Creek where he discovered evidence of gold and a gold mine was built and operated there for multiple years. Little Brasstown Creek Park opened in 2006 along Brasstown Creek on the campus of the John C. Campbell Folk School. The park includes the Rivercane Walk, multiple nature trails, and Cherokee history and artwork exhibits. Commercial tubing on Brasstown Creek started in spring 2021 with the founding of West Tubing Company, based in Warne.

Sweetwater Township is one of the six townships of Clay County, North Carolina, United States, located in the northwestern part of the county. The other five are Brasstown, Hayesville, Shooting Creek, Hiawassee, and Tusquittee.

The John C. Campbell Folk School, also referred to as "The Folk School", is located in Brasstown, North Carolina. It is the oldest and largest folk school in the United States. It is a non-profit adult educational organization based on non-competitive learning. The Folk School offers classes year-round in over fifty subject areas including art, craft, music, dance, and nature studies. Established in 1925, the Folk School's motto is "I sing behind the plow". It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a national historic district in 1983. The district encompasses 19 contributing buildings. Notable buildings include the Farm House (pre-1925), Keith House (1926-1928), Log House Museum (19th century, 1926), Mill House (1928), (Former) Milking Barn (now Clay Spencer Blacksmith Shop, c. 1930), Hay Barn (1931), Tower House (1933), Rock House (c. 1932), and Hill House (c. 1932).The Folk School has more than 800 week-long and weekend classes year-round in traditional and contemporary arts, including blacksmithing, music, dance, cooking, gardening, nature studies, photography, storytelling, and writing. The 300-acre campus includes a history museum, craft shop, nature trails, lodging, campground, and cafeteria. The school also holds a regular concert series and community dances. The Folk School engages the community through a variety of dance teams including: Rapper Magic Sword, StiX in the Mud Border Morris, Dame's Rocket Northwest Clog, Rural Felicity Garland, and the JCCFS Cloggers. The Folk School hosts more than 6,000 adult students and 100,000 visitors per year.The Fall Festival is the Folk School’s largest annual event, attracting thousands of people to the campus for crafts, food, and folk demonstrations. The festival has been held every year since 1974, except for 2020 and 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.Since at least 1954, the Folk School has also hosted an annual summer arts program for children called Little Middle.

Warne ( "worn") is an unincorporated community in Brasstown Township, Clay County, North Carolina, United States. In 2010, Clay County was the fourth least populated county in North Carolina, inhabited by approximately 10,587 people. The region has added considerably to its population, a 20.6% increase since 2000. Warne is closer to the capitals of five other states (Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Kentucky) than to Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina. Warne's elevation is 1,736 feet (529 m) above sea level. It has an area of 8.05 square miles (21 km2). It has a volunteer fire department and a post office, with the ZIP code of 28909.

Martin Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It is a tributary to the Hiwassee River. Martin Creek was named after the pioneer Martin family, which settled near its banks in the 1830s.
