II Alley of Honor

Ali Agha Ismail Agha oghlu oghlu Shikhlinski (Azerbaijani: Əli Ağa İsmayıl Ağa oğlu Şıxlinski;); 3 March [O.S. 15 March] 1863 – 5 August [O.S. 18 August] 1943) was an Azerbaijani lieutenant-general of the Russian imperial army, Deputy Minister of Defense and General of the Artillery of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and a Soviet military officer.

The Yasamal cemetery (Azerbaijani: Yasamal qəbiristanlığı), also known as the Wolf's Gate cemetery (Azerbaijani: Qurd Qapısı qəbiristanlığı) is a multi-confessional citywide cemetery located in the Yasamal District of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

MOIK Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan. It is currently used mostly for football matches. It serves as a home ground of MOIK Baku of the Azerbaijan Premier League. The stadium holds 3,000 people spectators.

The Alley of Honor (Azerbaijani: Fəxri Xiyaban, Honorary Allée) is a public cemetery and memorial in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Alley includes burials of famed Azerbaijanis and Azerbaijan-affiliated expatriates, including several Presidents, scientists and artists. There are 242 burials in total.

Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) (Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan Milli Elmlər Akademiyası (AMEA)), located in Baku, is the main state research organization and the primary body that conducts research and coordinates activities in the fields of science and social sciences in Azerbaijan. It was established on 23 January 1945. The President of ANAS is Acad. Ramiz Mehdiyev.One section of the ANAS is Republican Seismic Survey Center of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

Baku State University (BSU) (Azerbaijani: Bakı Dövlət Universiteti (BDU)) is a public university located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Established in 1919 by the Parliament of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the University started with faculties of history and philology, physics and mathematics, and law and medicine, with an initial enrollment of 1094. The first rector of BSU was V.I.Razumovsky, a former professor of surgery at Kazan University. In 1930, the government ordered the University shut down in accordance with a reorganization of higher education, and the University was replaced with the Supreme Pedagogical Institute. However, in 1934 the University was reestablished again and continued to work through the difficult years of World War II experiencing a shortage of faculty members. By its 40th anniversary in 1959, the University already had 13 faculties. The Azerbaijan Medical University and Azerbaijan State Economic University were both spun-offs of the original respective faculties at BSU. Among the graduates of BSU were two former presidents of Azerbaijan, Abulfaz Elchibey and Heydar Aliyev. The former graduated from the Faculty of Arabic Language and Literature, while the latter, who dominated Azerbaijan's political life for over 30 years, from the Faculty of History. Nobel Prize-winning physicist Lev Landau studied at BSU between 1922 and 1924. BSU is the only university from Azerbaijan ranked by international ranking organizations, such as University Ranking by Academic Performance and currently ranks at 1872 in the University Ranking by Academic Performance.

The Baku TV Tower (Azerbaijani: Televiziya Qülləsi), built in 1996, is a free standing concrete telecommunications tower in Baku, Azerbaijan. With a height of 310 metres (1017 ft or 480 meters from Caspian sea level), it is the tallest structure in Azerbaijan and the tallest reinforced concrete building in Caucasus. The tower has become one of the most prominent landmarks of Baku, often in the establishing shot of films set in the city.

The National Assembly (Azerbaijani: Milli Məclis), also transliterated as Milli Mejlis, is the legislative branch of government in Azerbaijan. The unicameral National Assembly has 125 deputies: previously 100 members were elected for five-year terms in single-seat constituencies and 25 were members elected by proportional representation; as of the latest election, however, all 125 deputies are returned from single-member constituencies. Power in Azerbaijan is heavily concentrated in Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are not free and fair.

Huseyn Javid Monument (Azerbaijani: Hüseyn Cavidin heykəli) is a monument to the Azerbaijani poet Huseyn Javid, located in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in a park named in his honour, located on the Huseyn Javid Avenue. The authors of the bronze-cast monument are the People's Artist of Azerbaijan, the sculptor Omar Eldarov and the architects Yusif Gadimov and Rasim Aliyev. It was installed in 1993.

Elmler Akademiyasi is a Baku Metro station. It was opened on 31 December 1985. It is named after the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan Milli Elmlər Akademiyası) which is nearby.
