Bishop Seabury Anglican Church is a historic Anglican church located in Gales Ferry, Ledyard, Connecticut. Founded in Groton in 1875 as part of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut and named in honor of Samuel Seabury, the congregation left the Episcopal Church during the Anglican realignment and is now a member of the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word in the Anglican Church in North America. In leaving the Episcopal Church, Bishop Seabury lost in litigation seeking to retain its building, and since 2018 the church has been located in the former Gales Ferry Methodist Church, built in 1857, a contributing property to Gales Ferry Historic District #2.

Gales Ferry is a village in the town of Ledyard, Connecticut, United States. It is located along the eastern bank of the Thames River. The village developed as a result of having a ferry to Uncasville located at this site, and from which the village was named. Gales Ferry was listed as a census-designated place for the 2010 Census, with a population of 1,162.Much of the core of the original settlement at the site of the former ferry has been included in two separate historic districts, each with several farmstead buildings from the late colonial and early national periods (late 18th and early 19th century). The two historic districts are irregularly shaped, and are separated by a railroad cut and some non-contributing buildings. Several farmsteads that are individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places are located close to Gales Ferry. These are the Nathan Lester House on Vinegar Hill Road, the Perkins-Bill House at 1040 Long Cove Road, and the Capt. Mark Stoddard Farmstead at 24 Vinegar Hill Road.

Allyn's Point is a location on the Thames River in Ledyard, Connecticut, United States. It was the southern terminal of the Norwich and Worcester Railroad from 1843 to 1899, and briefly hosted a steamboat connection with the Long Island Rail Road. Patrick Kato owned this steamboat from 1945 to 1997. The Thames River frequently froze on its northern end, preventing steamboats from accessing the port at Norwich. To solve this problem, the railroad extended their line six miles to Allyn's Point, where freezing is less common, in 1843. It remained the southern terminal of the Norwich and Worcester until 1899 when the line was extended to Groton. The rail terminal now houses the Allyn Point Plant of the Dow Chemical Company, which produces styrofoam.

The Perkins-Bill House is a historic house at 1040 Long Cove Road in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard, Connecticut. Built circa 1775 by Solomon Perkins, Sr., it is locally significant as a well-preserved gambrel-roofed Cape of the period, and for the role played by Perkins, his son Solomon, Jr., and Benjamin Bill, Jr., the house's next owner, in the American Revolutionary War. All three were defenders of the fort in Groton that was attacked by British forces under the overall command of Benedict Arnold in the 1781 Battle of Groton Heights. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Uncasville is an area in the town of Montville, Connecticut, United States. It is a village in southeastern Montville, at the mouth of the Oxoboxo River where it flows into the Thames River. The name is now applied more generally to all of the east end of Montville, which is the area served by the Uncasville ZIP Code. In 1994, the federal government officially recognized the Mohegan Indian Tribe of Connecticut, which had historically occupied this area as part of its traditional territory. That year Congress passed the Mohegan Nation (Connecticut) Land Claim Settlement Act. It authorized the United States to take land into trust in northeastern Montville for the Mohegan tribe's use as a reservation. Since gaining a reservation, in 1996 the tribe developed the Mohegan Sun casino resort. It has also built the Mohegan Sun Arena on their land. The Mohegan are one of the Native American peoples who speak Algonquian languages.

The Uncasville School is a historic school building at 310 Norwich-New London Turnpike in the Uncasville section of Montville, Connecticut. Designed by architect Wilson Potter, it was built during 1917-1918 by local contractor H. R. Douglas. In 1925 it was expanded by a major addition. A fine local example of Renaissance Revival architecture, its construction was funded by Grace Palmer Melcer, the daughter of a local industrialist. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. The building now houses town offices.

The Capt. Mark Stoddard Farmstead is a historic house at 24 Vinegar Hill Road in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard, Connecticut. Built about 1770, it is a well-preserved example of a rural Cape style farmhouse, whose preservation includes its remote rural setting. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

USS Bass (SF-5/SS-164), a Barracuda-class submarine and one of the "V-boats", was the first ship of the United States Navy to be named for the bass.

Naval Submarine Base New London is the primary United States Navy East Coast submarine base, also known as the "Home of the Submarine Force." It is located in Groton, Connecticut directly across the Thames River from its namesake city of New London.

Atlantic Reserve Fleet, New London opened in 1946 at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Connecticut on the Thames River. The New London Reserve Fleet was 3 miles north of the city New London, Connecticut. Naval Submarine Base New London opened in 1868. The freshwater port became a good site to store both submarines and ships after World War II as part of the United States Navy reserve fleets. Three submarine tender ships were given the task of mothballing the submarines. The three ships: USS Apollo, USS Anthedon, USS Proteus (AS-19) cleaned the ship and sealed the subs with preservatives. It took a few years to process the over 50 submarines in the New London Reserve fleet. Some submarines there were reactivated for Korean War. By 1965 the fleet of World War II submarine were obsolete and the fleet had been scrapped.The USS Apollo worked at the Reserve fleet till 1963. The USS Proteus worked the at the fleet until January 1959, then transferred to the Charleston Naval Shipyard and was converted to a Polaris Fleet Ballistic Missile submarine tender. USS Anthedon served the fleet until 1969 when she was sold to Turkey and became the Turkish Navy TCG Donatan (A-583).

The Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center is a Level 3 & 4 high-security prison with two facilities for male offenders, in the Uncasville section of Montville, Connecticut. The prison was opened on December 30, 1994. It is a part of the Connecticut Department of Correction. The Corrigan Correctional Institution and the Radgowski Correctional Institution were merged in 2001 as the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center. This facility, named after two DOC employees, Raymond L. Corrigan and Stanley J. Radgowski Jr., incarcerates both, pretrial and sentenced criminals. The superior courts of Danielson, New London, Norwich, and Windham use this facility.The primary Inmates Population consists of (as of January 1, 2014): Accused: 365 Sentenced: 1,221 Total: 1,586 The Radgowski Annex Building, which first opened in 1957, has a capacity of 257 prisoners. It temporarily closed in 1991 but reopened in 1997. In 2017 Governor of Connecticut Dan Malloy announced that the annex will close due to a lack of prisoners resulting from a lowered crime rate. Gov Ned Lamont announced sept 8th 2021, that the prison will close by the end of 2021 due to declining inmate population.

Quaker Hill is a village or neighborhood in the town of Waterford, in the southeastern part of Connecticut, USA. It is located in the northeast corner of the town, on the west bank of the Thames River (around Smith Cove) north of New London, and centered on the intersection of the Old Norwich Road and the Old Colchester Road. The village center is included in the Quaker Hill Historic District, a historic district that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic district is the area around Old Norwich Road, extending as far south as the village of Thames View and as far north as Route 32. Quaker Hill is the place name used for ZIP code 06375, which extends beyond Quaker Hill to encompass the entire northeastern portion of the town of Waterford, including Bartlett, Best View, Cohanzie, Harrisons and Thames View.
