Capt. Mark Stoddard Farmstead

The Nathan Lester House is a historic house museum at 153 Vinegar Hill Road in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard, Connecticut. Built in 1793, it is a well-preserved example of an unpretentious late 18th-century farmhouse, and one of the few houses of that age left in the town. It is located on over 136 acres (55 ha) of land, now owned by the town, which serves as a park and conservation land with trails. Is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The David Chapman Farmstead is a historic house at 128 Stoddards Wharf Road in Ledyard, Connecticut. Built about 1744, it is a well-preserved example of a vernacular rural farmhouse of the period, built by a descendant of one of Ledyard's early settlers. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

The Avery Homestead is a two-story Colonial-style home in Ledyard, Connecticut that was built circa 1696. Evidence suggests that the house may have begun as a single-story, one-room house and later expanded to a two-story, two-room house by 1726. The house underwent major additions and renovations by Theophilus Avery and later his grandson, Theophilus Avery. In the mid-1950s, Amos Avery began a decade-long restoration effort to return the house to its 18th-century appearance. The Avery Homestead is historically significant as a well-preserved example of an 18th-century farmhouse with fine craftsmanship. The home is also historically important because more than twelve generations of the Avery family have resided there over the course of three centuries. The Avery Homestead was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Stoddard Hill State Park is a public recreation area located on the eastern shore of the Thames River, about five miles (8.0 km) south of Norwich, in the town of Ledyard, Connecticut. The state park covers 55 acres and offers facilities for boating, fishing, and hiking. It is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Allyn's Point is a location on the Thames River in Ledyard, Connecticut, United States. It was the southern terminal of the Norwich and Worcester Railroad from 1843 to 1899, and briefly hosted a steamboat connection with the Long Island Rail Road. Patrick Kato owned this steamboat from 1945 to 1997. The Thames River frequently froze on its northern end, preventing steamboats from accessing the port at Norwich. To solve this problem, the railroad extended their line six miles to Allyn's Point, where freezing is less common, in 1843. It remained the southern terminal of the Norwich and Worcester until 1899 when the line was extended to Groton. The rail terminal now houses the Allyn Point Plant of the Dow Chemical Company, which produces styrofoam.

Bishop Seabury Anglican Church is a historic Anglican church located in Gales Ferry, Ledyard, Connecticut. Founded in Groton in 1875 as part of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut and named in honor of Samuel Seabury, the congregation left the Episcopal Church during the Anglican realignment and is now a member of the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word in the Anglican Church in North America. In leaving the Episcopal Church, Bishop Seabury lost in litigation seeking to retain its building, and since 2018 the church has been located in the former Gales Ferry Methodist Church, built in 1857, a contributing property to Gales Ferry Historic District #2.

The Historic Gales Ferry Cemetery is located at 12-24 Hurlbutt Road, Gales Ferry, Connecticut, United States. It is bordered by Military Highway, Hurlbutt Road, Winthrop Road and the Gales Ferry Library Park. It is administered by The Gales Ferry Cemetery Association (GFCA); contact address PO Box 144, Gales Ferry, CT 06335. The cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as a contributing property to the Gales Ferry Historic District #2.

The Perkins-Bill House is a historic house at 1040 Long Cove Road in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard, Connecticut. Built circa 1775 by Solomon Perkins, Sr., it is locally significant as a well-preserved gambrel-roofed Cape of the period, and for the role played by Perkins, his son Solomon, Jr., and Benjamin Bill, Jr., the house's next owner, in the American Revolutionary War. All three were defenders of the fort in Groton that was attacked by British forces under the overall command of Benedict Arnold in the 1781 Battle of Groton Heights. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Gales Ferry is a village in the town of Ledyard, Connecticut, United States. It is located along the eastern bank of the Thames River. The village developed as a result of having a ferry to Uncasville located at this site, and from which the village was named. Gales Ferry was listed as a census-designated place for the 2010 Census, with a population of 1,162.Much of the core of the original settlement at the site of the former ferry has been included in two separate historic districts, each with several farmstead buildings from the late colonial and early national periods (late 18th and early 19th century). The two historic districts are irregularly shaped, and are separated by a railroad cut and some non-contributing buildings. Several farmsteads that are individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places are located close to Gales Ferry. These are the Nathan Lester House on Vinegar Hill Road, the Perkins-Bill House at 1040 Long Cove Road, and the Capt. Mark Stoddard Farmstead at 24 Vinegar Hill Road.

Ledyard is a Town in New London County, Connecticut, United States, located along the Thames River. The town is named after Colonel William Ledyard, a Revolutionary War officer who was killed at the Battle of Groton Heights. The population was 15,413 at the 2020 census. The Foxwoods Resort Casino, owned and operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, is located in the northeastern section of Ledyard, on the reservation owned by the tribe. Ledyard's zip code is 06339. Gungywamp is an archaeological site in Groton, Connecticut, United States, consisting of artifacts dating from 2000-770 BC, a stone circle, and the remains of both Native American and colonial structures. Among multiple structural remains, of note is a stone chamber featuring an astronomical alignment during the equinoxes. Besides containing beehive chambers and petroglyphs, the Gungywamp site has a double circle of stones near its center, just north of two stone chambers. Two concentric circles of large quarried stones – 21 large slabs laid end to end – are at the center of the site. The origin and meaning of the name is uncertain. According to The Hartford Courant, researchers have "associated the name, 'Gungywamp' with ancient Gaelic, Mohegan, Pequot, and Algonquin" and could mean anything from "church of the people", "place of ledges", "swampy place"; or "all powerful" and "white," respectively.In 2018 the deed to 270 acres of the original 400-acre parcel was transferred to the State of Connecticut by the YMCA. Discussions were in progress on how to allow legal access to the property while preserving the archaeological sites.

The Gurdon Bill Store is located in Ledyard, Connecticut. In 1818, the land for the store was purchased by Gurdon Bill and his partner, Philip Gray. In 1819, Gray sold his interest in the store for $500. Bill operated the store until his death in 1856 and the store is believed to have made its final transaction in 1868. It has not been used since it was sold to the Congregational Society in 1875, retaining its historical integrity. The store is an 18-by-30-foot (5.5 by 9.1 m) by 1+1⁄2-story gable-roofed clapboarded structure built upon fieldstone and stone blocks. It has some unusual architecture in the form of a pent-roof and three-part window shutters. Clouette describes the store as "the best preserved early 19th-century store known in Connecticut." The Gurdon Bill Store was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 12, 1982.
