Terra Linda, San Rafael, California

Northgate Mall is a shopping mall located in the Terra Linda neighborhood of San Rafael, California, 15 miles (24 km) north of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's the largest of three shopping centers in San Rafael called Northgate. It was managed by The Macerich Company until 2017 and is now managed by Merlone Geier Partners. It is the only enclosed regional shopping center in Marin County. The mall's anchors are Macy's and Kohl's with a vacant anchor last occupied by Sears. It also contains a Century Theatres multiplex, a food court, and more than 90 specialty stores, services, and restaurants. The original anchor in the corner, now occupied by Macy's, was The Emporium, which opened in 1964. When the rest of the mall opened in 1965, it had an open-air design. The mall was enclosed when it was renovated in 1987. MTR Properties, Inc. was the original owner of the mall. Macerich bought the property in 1985 before selling it to Merlone Geier Partners in 2017. On January 4, 2018, Sears announced that its store at the mall will be closing as part of a plan to close 103 stores nationwide. The store closed in April 2018. Around the same time, plans were announced that would transform the mall into a "town center."On November 14, 2019, Forever 21 announced that the Northgate Mall location would be closing along with 21 other locations in California and 90 locations nationwide. It closed in January 2020.

Terra Linda High School (also known as TLHS and more commonly known as TL) is a public secondary school located in Terra Linda, San Rafael, California, United States. In 2006, it was named a California Distinguished School. The school is part of the San Rafael City Schools school district. The official school mascot is the Trojan. Residents of the high school district may choose either Terra Linda High or San Rafael High School. The high school district includes San Rafael, Santa Venetia, Lucas Valley-Marinwood, and a portion of Larkspur.

Los Ranchitos (Spanish for The Little Ranches) is an unincorporated community in Marin County, California, United States. It lies at an elevation of 66 feet (20 m).Los Ranchitos was developed in 1949 into lots of at least one acre in size, with most averaging 1-2 acres. There are covenants on record describing allowable use of the lots, as well as a Los Ranchitos Improvement Association, which has been continuously active since the 1950s. It does have a distinctly rural feel and is zoned agricultural and light farming with many lots having stables, horses, chickens, and goats. As an unincorporated area, it falls under county jurisdiction and the area serves as a regional community separator between San Rafael and Terra Linda. It also shares boundaries with San Rafael's Open Space, administered by the Marin County Open Space District, and is actively used as a major wildlife corridor.

Opened in 1977 in Marin County, CA, the Marin Computer Center was the world's first public access microcomputer center. The non-profit company was co-created by David Fox (later to become one of Lucasfilm Games' founding members) and Annie Fox an author. MCC (as it was known) initially featured the Atari 2600, an Equinox 100, 9 Processor Technology Sol 20 computers (S-100 bus systems), the Radio Shack Model I and the Commodore PET. In addition to providing computer access to the public it had classes on the programming language BASIC. Later it added Apple II and Atari 800 computers, for a total of about 40 systems. The Foxes left MCC in 1981, turning it over to new management, and later to the teens and young adults who helped run it.

Sorich Park is in San Anselmo, California, US. It has trails leading into the surrounding hills and ridge line. The park borders the western part of central San Rafael, California, as well as Sleepy Hollow (part of unincorporated county land). Sorich Park is about 60 acres in size and was acquired by the Town of San Anselmo in 1965. Before, it was a dairy ranch. The park supposedly got its name because the milk produced by the dairy was "so rich" that they made it one word and made it the name.

Congregation Rodef Sholom, founded in 1956, is a Reform Jewish Congregation located on the Lonee C. Hoytt Jewish Campus in San Rafael, California. Prior to its establishment, Shabbat services were held at the Marin Jewish Community Center, established in 1946 at Mission and Forbes Street. The congregation met at the center until 1962 when it moved to its current location. The congregation shares a campus with the Osher Marin JCC and the Brandeis Hillel Day School. Rodef Sholom has been affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism since 1957. The congregation receives its name, meaning "pursuers of peace," from a Talmudic quote by Rabbi Hillel: "Be among the disciples of Aaron, loving peace and pursuing peace, loving people and bringing them closer to the Torah."

The Superior Court of California, County of Marin, is the branch of the California superior court with jurisdiction over Marin County. It is housed in the landmark Marin County Civic Center, designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1962.

The Marin County Civic Center attacks were two related domestic terrorist attacks in 1970 targeting the Marin County Civic Center in San Rafael, California, United States, tied to escalating racial tensions in the state's criminal justice system. On August 7th, 17-year-old Jonathan P. Jackson attempted to coerce the release of the Soledad Brothers (including Jackson's older brother George) by kidnapping Superior Court judge Harold Haley from the Marin County Civic Center. As the kidnappers attempted to leave with five hostages by car, court officers shot at Jackson's retreating van. Four people were killed in the ensuing gunfight, including Jonathan Jackson and Judge Haley, and three others were wounded. The event received intense media coverage, as did the subsequent manhunt and trial of Angela Davis, an ousted professor from UCLA with connections to George and Jonathan Jackson, and the Black Panthers. Davis owned the weapons used in the incident but stated that she had no knowledge of its happening. The second attack took place on October 8 of that year, when the Weathermen detonated explosives in support of the earlier incident.
