Gainesville High School (GHS) is a high school in Gainesville, Florida, United States. There were 1,890 students attending it in 2015. The current principal is Daniel Ferguson, who joined the GHS staff in July 2022.

Glen Springs is a 5th magnitude hydrological spring in Gainesville, Florida, United States, located at 2424 NW 23rd Boulevard. Formerly a popular swimming and recreation area, the property closed to the public in 1970 and is no longer maintained for swimming.

The Maj. James B. Bailey House (also known as Rest Haven) is a historic home in Gainesville, Florida, United States. It is located at 1121 Northwest 6th Street. In 1972, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.It was built by Major James B. Bailey, early settler in the area, starting perhaps around 1848. Bailey, who owned a large area of land within Gainesville, seems likely to have been a force for the move of Alachua County's seat from Newnansville to Gainesville. The homestead house "remains today as an excellent example of early plantation architecture and the home of one of Gainesville's most important pioneers."The house was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey.

The A. Quinn Jones Museum and Cultural Center is a museum in Gainesville, Florida. The museum preserves the legacy of Allen Quin Jones (1893–1994), a local educator who dedicated his life to educating African-Americans.

Lincoln High School was a public high school for African American students in Gainesville, Florida during the segregation era. It replaced the Union Academy, founded with support from the Freedmen's Bureau in 1867. Lincoln High School was built in 1923 at Northwest 7th Avenue. When it was first constructed it only served grades 1–11, but the principal A. Quinn Jones campaigned for it to serve through grade 12 so students could graduate with diplomas and continue on to attend college or universities. In 1926, Jones succeeded in persuading the county board, and Lincoln High School became the second fully accredited African-American High School in the state of Florida. The A. Quinn Jones House is preserved as a museum honoring his legacy. A new school was built for Lincoln High School in 1956 in response to the Supreme Court of the United States decision in the case of Brown v. Board of Education calling for an end to segregation. Instead of integrating the county built an "equal" school for blacks at SE 12 Street, what is now Lincoln Middle School. The original 1923 Lincoln High School building is now the A. Quinn Jones Center.

Epworth Hall is a historic building in Gainesville, Florida, United States. It is notable as one of the oldest surviving buildings associated with the University of Florida, though it is no longer part of the university's campus. It was erected in 1884 and is located at 419 Northeast 1st Street in downtown Gainesville. Now part of the First United Methodist Church, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on July 25, 1973.

Mama Lo's was a soul food restaurant located in Gainesville, Florida, United States. It was founded by, operated by, and named for Lorene "Mama Lo" Alexander in 1975. It was known to be popular, said to be more than 200 customers for the lunch hour and even more at dinner. It served large portions for a cheap price. The restaurant closed in 1995. Located only a few blocks from the University of Florida and across the street from a railroad track, the establishment proved popular with students, townsfolk and travelers alike. It was also frequented by many local musicians such as Bo Diddley, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Stranger Band and Sister Hazel. UF alumni in the 2000s reminisced about their favorite Mama Lo's servings, such as chicken and rice, broccoli casserole, and sweet tea. It was said that through the Southern, home-style cooking Mama Lo served to loyal customers for over three decades, she put her four children through college in Gainesville. Mama Lo's was located at 618 NW 6th Street in Gainesville, Florida. Lorene "Mama Lo" Alexander died in 2007, at the age of 85.

The Old WRUF Radio Station (later the University of Florida Police Department headquarters) was a historic site in Gainesville, Florida, United States. It was located on the University of Florida campus (on the southeast corner of Museum Road and Newell Drive). On September 21, 1989, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building was demolished in 2021 to make way for a larger, more modern UF Public Safety Building. In lieu of demolition, an option to move the Old WRUF Radio Station a few hundred feet away was considered, but the cost to perform the move was estimated to be about $300,000. Construction on the UF Public Safety Building began in April 2021.

Cooperative Living Organization (CLO), formerly Collegiate Living Organization, in Gainesville, Florida, is one of the oldest continuously operating independent student-governed cooperative living organizations in the United States. The 89-year-old organization has provided over 2000 financially disadvantaged students an opportunity for a University of Florida education while providing experience in independent and socially responsible living by pooled resources and self-governance.

The Pleasant Street Historic District in Gainesville, Florida is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on April 20, 1989) located in Gainesville, Florida. It encompasses approximately 770 acres (3.1 km2), bounded by Northwest 8th Avenue, Northwest 1st Street, Northwest 2nd Avenue, and Northwest 6th Street. It contains 259 historic buildings.

The Charles L. Blount Center, often referred to as simply the Blount Center, is a campus of Santa Fe College (SFC), located in Gainesville, Florida. Prior to it being a campus, the center served as an educational and outreach center for those in the downtown area. Though separate from the Blount Center, the nearby Blount Hall is considered a part of the overall Blount campus.
