Pleasant Street Historic District (Gainesville, Florida)

The Charles L. Blount Center, often referred to as simply the Blount Center, is a campus of Santa Fe College (SFC), located in Gainesville, Florida. Prior to it being a campus, the center served as an educational and outreach center for those in the downtown area. Though separate from the Blount Center, the nearby Blount Hall is considered a part of the overall Blount campus.

Mama Lo's was a soul food restaurant located in Gainesville, Florida, United States. It was founded by, operated by, and named for Lorene "Mama Lo" Alexander in 1975. It was known to be popular, said to be more than 200 customers for the lunch hour and even more at dinner. It served large portions for a cheap price. The restaurant closed in 1995. Located only a few blocks from the University of Florida and across the street from a railroad track, the establishment proved popular with students, townsfolk and travelers alike. It was also frequented by many local musicians such as Bo Diddley, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Stranger Band and Sister Hazel. UF alumni in the 2000s reminisced about their favorite Mama Lo's servings, such as chicken and rice, broccoli casserole, and sweet tea. It was said that through the Southern, home-style cooking Mama Lo served to loyal customers for over three decades, she put her four children through college in Gainesville. Mama Lo's was located at 618 NW 6th Street in Gainesville, Florida. Lorene "Mama Lo" Alexander died in 2007, at the age of 85.

The John F. Seagle Building (also known as Hotel Kelley or the Dixie Hotel) is a historic building located at 408 West University Avenue in Gainesville, Florida, in the United States. Built in 1926, it was designed by noted University of Florida architect and professor Rudolph Weaver and built by G. Lloyd Preacher & Company. On August 16, 1982, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places as the Dixie Hotel, Hotel Kelley.

Gainesville Masonic Lodge No. 41 in Gainesville, Florida is a historic Masonic building, located at 215 North Main Street. It was constructed by Gainesville Masonic Lodge No. 41 in 1908. On May 29, 1998, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Battle of Gainesville was an American Civil War engagement fought on August 17, 1864, when a Confederate force defeated Union detachments from Jacksonville, Florida. The result of the battle was the Confederate occupation of Gainesville for the remainder of the war.

The Cox Furniture Store (also known as the Simonson Opera House or Edwards Opera House or New Baird Theater) c. 1890 is a historic site in Gainesville, Florida, United States. Built in the form and style of a small Romanesque Revival church, it is located at 19 Southeast First Avenue. On June 10, 1994, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Thomas Center, formerly known as Hotel Thomas and Sunkist Villa, is an historic building in Gainesville, Florida, United States. It was built starting in 1910 in the Classical Revival style by noted Atlanta-based architect, William Augustus Edwards, designer of academic buildings at 12 institutions in Georgia, South Carolina and Florida, including the original University of Florida campus, as well as a dozen or more county courthouses in those states plus other building and houses,The building began as the private home of William Reuben Thomas, his wife Kathryn, and their five children, when it was known as Sunkist Villa. In 1928 Thomas more than doubled the size of the home and converted it to a hotel. On July 16, 1973, the building was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The Thomas Center celebrated its 100th anniversary on February 12, 2010.

Lincoln High School was a public high school for African American students in Gainesville, Florida during the segregation era. It replaced the Union Academy, founded with support from the Freedmen's Bureau in 1867. Lincoln High School was built in 1923 at Northwest 7th Avenue. When it was first constructed it only served grades 1–11, but the principal A. Quinn Jones campaigned for it to serve through grade 12 so students could graduate with diplomas and continue on to attend college or universities. In 1926, Jones succeeded in persuading the county board, and Lincoln High School became the second fully accredited African-American High School in the state of Florida. The A. Quinn Jones House is preserved as a museum honoring his legacy. A new school was built for Lincoln High School in 1956 in response to the Supreme Court of the United States decision in the case of Brown v. Board of Education calling for an end to segregation. Instead of integrating the county built an "equal" school for blacks at SE 12 Street, what is now Lincoln Middle School. The original 1923 Lincoln High School building is now the A. Quinn Jones Center.

The Star Garage (also known as the Crawford and Davis Livery Stable or Poole-Gable Motors) is a U.S. historic building in Gainesville, Florida. It is located at 119 Southeast 1st Avenue. On December 17, 1985, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
