Federal Dam (Troy)

The Rensselaer and Saratoga Railroad: Green Island Shops were two historic buildings and one historic structure located at Green Island, Albany County, New York. The buildings were built in 1871 by the Rensselaer and Saratoga Railroad. They are: the three-story, five-bay, brick car shop building measuring approximately 100 by 300 feet (30 by 91 m); the one-story, semicircular, brick roundhouse; and the 40-foot-tall (12 m) octagonal water tower. The shops remained in operation into the late 1930s.: 6–8 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.On March 11, 2011 the structure caught fire. The fire started on the third floor and quickly spread to the first. The building was demolished a few weeks later.

Heatly School is a public Pre K-12 school located in Green Island, Albany County, New York, U.S.A., and is the only high school operated by the Green Island Union Free School District. The school is named after James Heatly, who was the Superintendent of Schools from 1880 to 1924. Heatly School was renovated in the 1950s and an addition, including a new gymnasium, laboratories, additional classrooms and other renovations were built beginning in 2006.

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, later called Christ & St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, and now known as New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, is an historic Episcopal church and rectory at 2900 Fifth Avenue in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York. The church was built in 1895 and is a red brick church in the Late Gothic Revival style. It has a gable roof and three hipped dormers. It has an open bell tower and slender conical turrets. It features a rose window depicting the Madonna and Child. The former rectory is a 2+1⁄2-story, L-shaped brick residence. Also on the property is a contributing carved stone crucifixion dated to about 1900.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Green Island is a coterminous town-village in Albany County, New York, United States, some 8 miles (13 km) north of Albany. Green Island is one of only five such town-village amalgamations in New York. The population was 2,620 at the 2010 census, and the ZIP code is 12183. While the town of Green Island was once an island, it was connected to the mainland on the west side of the Hudson River in the 1960s. Green Island is also the smallest town, by area, in New York, covering 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2); by contrast, the largest towns in the state by area are Brookhaven, which covers an area of 531.5 square miles (1,377 km2) (though much of that is water), and Webb, which has the largest land area at 483 square miles (1,250 km2).

The Mohawk River is a 149-mile-long (240 km) river in the U.S. state of New York. It is the largest tributary of the Hudson River. The Mohawk flows into the Hudson in Cohoes, New York, a few miles north of the city of Albany. The river is named for the Mohawk Nation of the Iroquois Confederacy. It is a major waterway in north-central New York. The largest tributary, the Schoharie Creek, accounts for over one quarter (26.83%) of the Mohawk River's watershed. Another main tributary is the West Canada Creek, which makes up for 16.33% of the Mohawk's watershed.

Haskell School is a historic school building located at Troy in Rensselaer County, New York. It was built in 1894 and is a "T"-shaped, three story, red brick building on an elevated limestone basement in the Renaissance Revival style. It has a flat roof with a massive metal cornice. It features a majestic front entrance with a gated arch rising two stories over a tiled vestibule. The arch includes the inscription "Haskell School" in a terra cotta frieze. It was used as a school until 1975, then converted to apartments after 1977.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.The former Haskell School, a three-story brick building that has been empty for much of the last 45 years, has a new owner. In May 2020, the building was purchased by an investor, ST8 Realty and Development, led by Dillon Nash, intent on converting the building into 20 residential apartments. “This building was once a community cornerstone, and we’re focused on making sure its best days are still ahead. This neighborhood has so much history and we’re here to support its revitalization. Haskell is finally in the right hands.”

St. Mark's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church at 69-75 Hudson Avenue in Green Island, Albany County, New York. It was built in 1866–1867 in a Gothic Revival style. It is a rectangular, brick trimmed stone church building with a steeply pitched roof with three steeply pitched dormers, covered in polychrome slate. The front gable features three pointed Gothic windows and a rose window. It also has a stone bell tower. The two story brick rectory was added in 1883–1884.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Jacob H. Patten House is a historic home located in the former village of Lansingburgh at Troy, Rensselaer County, New York. It was built in 1881–1882, and is a two-story, two-bay-wide by three-bay-deep, Italianate style brick dwelling. It sits on a brick and stone foundation and a pitched roof hidden by a low parapet. The front facade features a one-story, shallow, hipped roof porch with square, chamfered columns and brackets. Also on the property is a contributing two-story carriage house (c. 1881–1882).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

The Collar City Bridge (also known as the Hoosick Street Bridge) carries NYS Route 7 (NY 7) across the Hudson River connecting Colonie, New York with Troy, by way of passing over Green Island. Though the northern terminus of Interstate 787 (I-787) is unclear, there is sign evidence of a concurrency at least halfway across the bridge.

Glenwood, also known as Eddy Titus Mansion, is a historic home located on Eddy's Lane in Troy in Rensselaer County, New York. The house consists of a 2+1⁄2-story, rectangular, red brick central block with a 2-story, "T" shaped wing. The wing forms a courtyard and there is a 1-story porch around three sides of it. The front facade is dominated by a full Ionic order portico with pediment in the Greek Revival style. It houses the offices of the Troy Housing Authority.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The Kate Mullany House was the home of Kate Mullany (1845–1906), an early female labor leader who started the all-women Collar Laundry Union in Troy, New York in February 1864. It was one of the first women's unions that lasted longer than the resolution of a specific issue. It is located at 350 8th Street in Troy, just off NY 7 one empty lot east of the Collar City Bridge. The house was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1998. It is now a National Historic Site. The site also includes Mullany's grave. The New York State Senate honored the house and its most famous resident for Women's History Month in March 2007. The house is also on the New York Women's Heritage Trail.

Oakwood Avenue Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at Troy, Rensselaer County, New York. It was built in 1868, and is a two-story, three bay by five bay, rectangular frame building. It has a gable roof topped by belfry. An education wing was added in 1957.: 3 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
