St. Mark's Episcopal Church (Green Island, New York)

Green Island is a coterminous town-village in Albany County, New York, United States, some 8 miles (13 km) north of Albany. Green Island is one of only five such town-village amalgamations in New York. The population was 2,620 at the 2010 census, and the ZIP code is 12183. While the town of Green Island was once an island, it was connected to the mainland on the west side of the Hudson River in the 1960s. Green Island is also the smallest town, by area, in New York, covering 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2); by contrast, the largest towns in the state by area are Brookhaven, which covers an area of 531.5 square miles (1,377 km2) (though much of that is water), and Webb, which has the largest land area at 483 square miles (1,250 km2).

The Collar City Bridge (also known as the Hoosick Street Bridge) carries NYS Route 7 (NY 7) across the Hudson River connecting Colonie, New York with Troy, by way of passing over Green Island. Though the northern terminus of Interstate 787 (I-787) is unclear, there is sign evidence of a concurrency at least halfway across the bridge.

Heatly School is a public Pre K-12 school located in Green Island, Albany County, New York, U.S.A., and is the only high school operated by the Green Island Union Free School District. The school is named after James Heatly, who was the Superintendent of Schools from 1880 to 1924. Heatly School was renovated in the 1950s and an addition, including a new gymnasium, laboratories, additional classrooms and other renovations were built beginning in 2006.

Troy Waste Manufacturing Company Building, also known as the McCarthy Building, is a historic textile factory located at Troy, Rensselaer County, New York. It was built about 1908, and is a five-story, triangular shaped brick building with a flat roof and high basement. It features a tall square stair tower, formal entranceway, and Classical Revival style terra cotta ornamentation.: 6 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

The Green Island Bridge crosses the Hudson River in New York, connecting Green Island with Troy, passing through Starbuck Island. It opened September 12, 1981.

The Northern River Street Historic District is located along River Street (southbound US 4 at that point) north of Federal Street, one block east of the Green Island Bridge, in Troy, New York, United States. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, as the Northern River Street District, to distinguish it from Troy's previously existing River Street Historic District, which had been one of five superseded by the Central Troy Historic District to the south two years earlier. Its two acres (8,000 m²) include 13 brick industrial and commercial buildings erected from the mid-19th to early 20th centuries. They were cut off from the rest of downtown due to the construction of the Rensselaer and Saratoga Railroad, and as a result became a production center for the city's major industries, primarily textiles. When those industries declined in the mid-20th century, they were further isolated from the city's center by expansion of Federal Street to provide access to the bridge, and various urban renewal efforts. As a result, they have not seen much redevelopment and remain mostly intact.

The Rensselaer and Saratoga Railroad: Green Island Shops were two historic buildings and one historic structure located at Green Island, Albany County, New York. The buildings were built in 1871 by the Rensselaer and Saratoga Railroad. They are: the three-story, five-bay, brick car shop building measuring approximately 100 by 300 feet (30 by 91 m); the one-story, semicircular, brick roundhouse; and the 40-foot-tall (12 m) octagonal water tower. The shops remained in operation into the late 1930s.: 6–8 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.On March 11, 2011 the structure caught fire. The fire started on the third floor and quickly spread to the first. The building was demolished a few weeks later.

The National State Bank Building is located on River Street in Troy, New York, United States, at its junction with Fulton and Third (southbound US 4) streets. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, one of the earliest buildings in the city so recognized. Since 1986 it has been a contributing property to the Central Troy Historic District. It was built in 1904, on the site of a public market that had burned down the year before, by local architects M. F. Cummings & Son in the Beaux Arts architectural style. Five stories high, three bays wide by nine deep, its fenestration is similar to the larger Ilium Building a block to the east. The first story is faced in rusticated stone, the second through fifth in light gold brick with stone and terra cotta trim, and with carved stone panels beneath the third and fourth floor windows. These three distinct zones, along with the building's steel frame construction and use of an elevator inside, show the influence of early skyscraper design.

The Ilium Building is a building located at the northeast corner of Fulton Street and Fourth Street in Troy, New York, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 13, 1970, and since 1986 has also been a contributing property to the Central Troy Historic District. Its street address is 400 Fulton Street.The Ilium Building is designed in the Beaux-Arts style, and is described as handsome. The building is five stories high and was one of Troy's first tall buildings, featuring one of the oldest elevators in the city. The building's exterior features detailed stonework. The building's name, Ilium, is another term for classical Troy. The building is located next to the Fulton Street Gallery.The building was constructed in 1904. It was designed by Troy-based Cummings architectural firm. Some sources attribute the design to Marcus F. Cummings (1836-1905), while others attribute the design to Frederick M. Cummings. Marcus Cummings designed other major buildings in Troy, including the National State Bank Building, Troy Times Building, Troy City Hall, Troy High School, Troy Courthouse, Rensselaer County Courthouse, and Mount Ida Presbyterian Church.

The W. & L. E. Gurley Building is a historic industrial building in Troy, New York, United States. Built in 1862, it is a classical revival structure that housed the W. & L. E. Gurley Company, a maker of precision measuring instruments. The Gurley Company was one of the first companies in the nation to make precision instruments. The building was designated a National Historic Landmark in recognition of this in 1983.

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, later called Christ & St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, and now known as New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, is an historic Episcopal church and rectory at 2900 Fifth Avenue in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York. The church was built in 1895 and is a red brick church in the Late Gothic Revival style. It has a gable roof and three hipped dormers. It has an open bell tower and slender conical turrets. It features a rose window depicting the Madonna and Child. The former rectory is a 2+1⁄2-story, L-shaped brick residence. Also on the property is a contributing carved stone crucifixion dated to about 1900.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The McCarthy Building is located on River Street on the west side of Monument Square in Troy, New York, United States. It was built in 1904 by Peter McCarthy, president of Troy Waste Manufacturing Co., and remains in use as a commercial building. In 1970 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, along with the nearby Cannon Building. Since 1986 it has also been a contributing property to the Central Troy Historic District. It is five stories tall and three bays wide. The eastern (front) facade is done in terra cotta with details in iron and glass. The latter two materials are combined to create the building's most distinctive feature, the proscenium-style arched window across the bottom two stories.The building was constructed in 1904 during an early 20th-century building boom in downtown Troy. It originally housed the R.C. Reynolds home furnishing store. The store's grand opening on September 16, 1904 was attended by a crowd of thousands. An article in the Troy Times praised the building calling it "one of the most attractive show buildings in the city". It was almost demolished during urban renewal efforts in the late 1960s, but protests from residents and its listing on the Register helped to save it. In the 2000s, it became home to Light & Power Communications Ltd., a Capital District media company. In 2020, the McCarthy Building was converted to luxury apartments.
