Emory, Virginia

Emory & Henry University (E&H or EHU) is a private university in Emory, Virginia, United States. The campus lies on 335 acres (1.36 km2) of Washington County, which is part of the Appalachian highlands of Southwest Virginia. Founded in 1836, EHU is the oldest institution of higher learning in Southwest Virginia. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Emory-Meadowview was a census-designated place (CDP) in Washington County, Virginia, United States. The population was 2,266 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Kingsport–Bristol (TN)–Bristol (VA) Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City–Kingsport–Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area – commonly known as the "Tri-Cities" region. As of the 2010 census it was split into Emory and Meadow View CDPs.

Patrick Henry High School is a public high school in Glade Spring, Virginia. It was built in 1960 as a result of the consolidation of Glade Spring High School and Meadowview High School and named after Founding Father Patrick Henry. The school is located on a 32 acre campus in Glade Spring, Virginia. .

Crabtree–Blackwell Farm is a historic farm located near Blackwell, Washington County, Virginia. The main house is a "saddlebag" type building with 2 1/2-story pens connected by a central limestone rubble chimney stack. The remaining Appalachian vernacular contributing resources are a spring house or milkhouse and log hay barn. The farm is representative of mountain folk culture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Brook Hall is a historic home located at Glade Spring, Washington County, Virginia. It was built about 1830, and is a large two-story, five-bay, "T" plan, Federal style brick dwelling. The house has a four-bay, two-story brick wing. The interior retains spectacular carved woodwork as well as very early, possibly original, paint on woodgrained doors and marbled mantels and baseboards. Also on the property is a contributing spring house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. It is currently for sell.

Edmondson Hall was built in 1856 just outside Meadowview, this brick, Greek Revival house has withstood time very well. William Campbell Edmondson, an early pioneer and merchant, built the house, and the original parcel included 383 acres (1.55 km2) in the fertile valley. On June 11, 1998, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The population was 861 at the 2020 census. down from 967 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kingsport-Bristol-Bristol, TN-VA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City-Kingsport-Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area – commonly known as the "Tri-Cities" region. Meadowview and nearby Emory were previously a single Census-designated place listed as Meadowview-Emory, Virginia. For the 2010 census onwards they are listed as two separate.
