Musashino (武蔵野市, Musashino-shi) is a city located in the western portion of Tokyo Metropolis, Japan. As of 1 March 2021, the city had an estimated population of 147,492 in 77,779 households, and a population density of 13,000 persons per km². The total area of the city is 10.98 square kilometres (4.24 sq mi). Based on the 2019 survey by SUUMO, the Kichijoji neighborhood of Musashino was the third most desirable place to live in central Japan.Popular attractions in Musashino include Kichijōji; a residential and shopping neighborhood with malls such as Atre Kichijoji, recreational areas such as Inokashira Park, Musashino Chuo Park, Musashino Municipal Athletic Stadium and Musashino Sports Complex.

Kichijōji (吉祥寺) is a neighborhood in the city of Musashino in Western Tokyo, Japan. It is centered on a compact but popular commercial area to the north and south of Kichijoji Station, with a full range of shops, restaurants, bars, and coffee houses. The area is a popular center for shopping and leisure in the Tokyo metropolitan area due in part to its close proximity to Inokashira Park and Inokashira Park Zoo. Kichijoji has been voted the number 1 place in Japan that Japanese would like to live every year since the 1990s according to polls by the magazine CNN GO. Kichijōji Station is served by the Chūō Line which runs to Tokyo Central Station in around 30 minutes, the Sobu Line, the Tozai Line and is also a terminus of the Keiō Inokashira Line, which takes passengers as far as Shibuya in around 20 minutes on the express service.

Kichijōji Station (吉祥寺駅, Kichijōji-eki) is an interchange passenger railway station serving Kichijōji in the city of Musashino, Tokyo, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and the private railway operator Keio Corporation.

Inokashira Park (井の頭恩賜公園, Inokashira Onshi Kōen) is a park which straddles Musashino and Mitaka in western Tokyo, Japan. Inokashira Pond (井の頭池) and the Kanda River water source (神田上水, Kanda jōsui), established during the Edo period, are the primary sources of the Kanda River. The land was given to Tokyo in 1913. On May 1, 1917, it opened under the name Inokashira Onshi Kōen (井の頭恩賜公園), which can be translated as, "Inokashira Imperial Grant Park". Thus the park was considered a gift from the Emperor to the general public.

Inokashira Park Zoo (Japanese: いのかしらしぜんぶんかえん; Kanji: 井の頭自然文化園) is a city zoo in Musashino, Tokyo. It is in a corner of Inokashira Park near the Ghibli Museum. A branch of the zoo is in Mitaka. It opened on May 17, 1942.

The DyDo Drinco Ice Arena (ダイドードリンコ アイスアリーナ) is an indoor sporting arena located in Nishitōkyō, Tokyo, Japan. The arena opened in 1984. It has a capacity of 3,500 people (2,482 seated and 1,018 standing). It was the home ice of the now defunct Seibu Prince Rabbits, an Asia League Ice Hockey team. The Osaka based beverage company DyDo acquired the naming right of the arena, originally named Higashi-Fushimi Ice Arena (東伏見アイスアリーナ), in 2006.The arena is located in front of Higashi-Fushimi Station, a station of the Seibu Shinjuku Line connecting Shinjuku, Tokyo with Kawagoe, Saitama. The line is operated by Seibu Railway, the owner of the arena and the Prince Rabbits team.

Waseda University Higashi-Fusimi Ground (早稲田大学東伏見運動場) is an athletic stadium in Tokyo, Japan. It hosted the 1949 Emperor's Cup and final game between University of Tokyo LB and Kandai Club was played there on June 5, 1949.

Mitaka Station (三鷹駅, Mitaka-eki) is a passenger railway station located in the city of Mitaka, Tokyo, Japan, operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East). Part of the station (north of the Tamagawa Aqueduct) is located in the Nakacho neighborhood of Musashino, Tokyo.

The Mitaka incident (三鷹事件, Mitaka jiken) was an incident that took place in Tokyo, Japan on July 15, 1949, when an unmanned 63 series train with its operating handle tied down drove into Mitaka Station on the Chūō Line, killing six people and injuring 20. The incident remains a mystery, as do the Shimoyama and Matsukawa incidents which occurred around the same time. The government indicted ten people on a charge of train sabotage resulting in death of the victims, as well as the train's conductor, Keisuke Takeuchi, who was not in the train when it derailed.
