Arrimal

Arrimal e Mendiga (officially União das Freguesias de Arrimal e Mendiga) is a civil parish in the municipality of Porto de Mós, Portugal. The population in 2021 was 1,575, in an area of 38.58 km2. It was formed on 28 January 2013 by the merging of freguesias Arrimal and Mendiga. It is known for its natural beauty, being the home of the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park and two natural lagoons.

Mendiga is a former civil parish in the municipality of Porto de Mós, Portugal. The population in 2011 was 930, in an area of 20.01 km2. It was first mentioned in 1142 but only became a freguesia shortly after 1525. It is home to the multi-sport club ARCD Mendiga. On 28 January 2013 it merged with Arrimal to form Arrimal e Mendiga.

The Lusitanian Basin is a rift basin located on both the mainland and continental shelf off the west-central coast of Portugal. It covers an area measuring 20,000 square kilometres (7,700 sq mi) and extends north-south from Porto to Lisbon. The basin varies between approximately 130 kilometres (81 mi) and 340 kilometres (210 mi) in width and belongs to a family of periatlantic basins such as the Jeanne d'Arc Basin. To the east of the Lusitanian Basin lies the Central Plateau of the Iberian Peninsula. A marginal horst system lies to the west. The Alentejo and Algarve Basins connect to the southern end of the Lusitanian Basin. In the north, it connects to the Porto and Galicia Basins via an undersea ridge.

Pedreiras is a civil parish in the municipality of Porto de Mós, Portugal. The population in 2021 was 2,548, in an area of 11.28 km2. It was created on 19 December, 1924 by law No.1:702.

Turquel is a civil parish in the municipality of Alcobaça, Portugal. The population in 2011 was of 4,561 people, in 2021 it was down to 4,439.

The Alcobaça Monastery or Alcobasa Monastery (Portuguese: Mosteiro de Alcobaça, Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Alcobaça) is a Catholic monastic complex located in the town of Alcobaça (or Alcobasa, Portuguese pronunciation: [alkuˈβasɐ] ), in central Portugal, 120 km (75 mi) north of Lisbon and 110 km (68 mi) south of Coimbra.The monastery was established in 1153 by the first Portuguese king, Afonso Henriques, and would develop a close association with the Portuguese monarchy throughout its seven-century-long history. This association led to the monastery becoming the richest and most influential in Portugal by 1300, with a population of almost 1,000 monks and business interests including farming, fishing and trade. It closed in 1834, amid the dissolution of the monasteries in Portugal.The church and monastery were the first Gothic buildings in Portugal, and, together with the roughly older Augustinian Monastery of Santa Cruz in Coimbra, it was one of the most important mediaeval monasteries in Portugal. Due to its artistic, cultural and historical relevance, it was included in UNESCO's World Heritage Site list in 1989.

Benedita is a town and parish in the Portuguese municipality of Alcobaça. It received town status on May 16, 1984. Although a predominantly rural area, the parish of Benedita is heavily industrialised. Its main industries are the shoe making, leather, knife making, stonemasonry industries. Pig farming is also important economically for this parish. The town of Benedita is one of the main commerce centers in the municipality of Alcobaça. Benedita is one of the 13 parishes that comprise Alcobaça municipality. It is located by south county and has a 30 km length. Its history is long, beginning in 800 AD. Later, Monges de Cister, an organisation of Christians that are in Alcobaça, started to search for places to do agriculture and farming. People of Benedita believe that there was a miracle with the Virgin Mary. The Virgin appeared to two sisters when they were getting water from a source, telling them to choose another location for the village church. Every time someone started the construction, the rocks disappeared. This happened so many times that people started to believe that the sisters were right and so the construction was not on the desired location and now these rocks are exposed in one of the schools at the village. The population of the Benedita parish is of 8480 people, as of 2021.

Alcobaça (Portuguese pronunciation: [alkuˈβasɐ] ) is a Portuguese city and municipality in the Oeste region, in the historical province of Estremadura, and in the Leiria District. The city grew along the valleys of the rivers Alcoa and Baça, from which it derives its name. The municipality population in 2011 was 56,693, in an area of 408.14 square kilometres (157.58 sq mi). The city proper has a population of 15,800 inhabitants.The city of Alcobaça became notable after the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques, decided to build a church to commemorate the Conquest of Santarém from the Moors in 1147. The church later evolved into the Monastery of Alcobaça, one of the most magnificent Gothic monuments in the country. In the church are the tombs of Pedro I of Portugal and his murdered mistress Inês de Castro. Over the centuries this monastery played an important role in shaping Portuguese culture. A few kilometers to the north of Alcobaça is the Monastery of Batalha, another Gothic building constructed in memory of a different important battle, that of Aljubarrota. To the west of Alcobaça is the fishing village of Nazaré, now a popular resort town. To the south is the city of Caldas da Rainha and the medieval town of Óbidos. To the northeast is the town of Porto de Mós with its rebuilt castle.
