Grovedale was a railway station on the outskirts of Geelong, located on the Warrnambool railway line in Victoria, Australia. Located near the current Torquay Road (Surfcoast Highway) level crossing, the station opened in 1876 as Germantown and was renamed Grovedale in February 1916.

Waurn Ponds railway station is located on the Warrnambool line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the southern Geelong suburb of Waurn Ponds, and it opened on 12 October 2014.

Grovedale College (formerly known as Grovedale Secondary College) is an Australian public high school located in Grovedale, Victoria, a suburb in the city of Geelong. It was established in 1979 as the Grovedale Technical High School. Under the guidance of the founding principal R "Bob" Arnup the new school prospered and developed a unique status at the time as a model of progressive education.

The Armstrong Creek Growth Area is a southern extension to the urban growth boundary of the metropolitan area of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. It comprises parts of the localities of Grovedale and Marshall south of the Warrnambool railway line, and parts of the localities of Mount Duneed and Connewarre from some distance to the north of Lower Duneed Road and generally to the west of Barwon Heads Road. The area is named for Armstrong Creek (formerly Armstrong's Creek) which flows from west to east across it; the creek was named after Scottish settler John Armstrong whose property included the creek.The intention to expand Geelong's suburbs into the area was signalled first in the 1980s by the Geelong Regional Commission, and details for a possible development strategy were covered by Henshall, Hansen and Associates' "Mount Duneed/Armstrong Creek Urban Development Study", commissioned by the City of Greater Geelong in 1994The growth area came into being in June 2010 with State government approval of the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme Amendment. The aim is for the development to have its physical and social infrastructure provided at an early stage, with an aim of building communities rather than just releasing land for development. Armstrong Creek has been promoted as a sustainable community, with a focus on walkability, public transport provision and sustainable water use; while the intention to have usable public transport operating within the development from the outset at was at first undermined by the revelation in August 2011 that bus services will not be provided when residents move into their homes., the Route 45 bus from the village Warralily shopping centre to Waurn Ponds shopping centre, connecting the area with Waurn Ponds railway station, opened in October 2019 to augment the Route 50 and 51 bus routes which run to Torquay to the south, and Marshall Railway Station and central Geelong to the north along the Surf Coast Highway. Land sales commenced in late 2010, though no new suburbs had by then been gazetted. The names Warralily, Harriott (in the east) and Armstrong Village (in the west) are in use by developers. On 1 March 2012 Armstrong Creek and Charlemont officially became suburbs of Geelong. As of July 2019, the population of the urban growth area Armstrong Creek was around 15,000.

Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre is a major regional shopping centre servicing the southern suburbs of the city of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. It is located on the corner of Colac and Pioneer Roads in the suburb of Grovedale. The shopping centre features around 140 stores, including Woolworths, Coles, Kmart, Target, Amart Sports, Reading Cinemas and First Choice Liquor. Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre originally opened in 1985 as Town & Country Shopping World, with a Woolworths supermarket and 12 speciality stores.The shopping centre's first redevelopment in 1996 saw the shopping centre grow in size to include Target. 2000 saw the opening of Reading Cinemas, and then the opening of Coles supermarket followed in 2002. Following this redevelopment in 2002, the Centre was officially renamed Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre this redevelopment was completed by Stephanie Boyd and Chace Rankin.The shopping centre was again redeveloped in 2007 with an expanded Target and 36 new specialty stores. A further two-stage redevelopment in 2014 saw Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre double in size to 48,000 sq/m. The first stage, which opened in May 2014, saw new Kmart and Coles megastores and a food court, whilst stage 2 saw another 40 speciality stores open in August 2014.

Oberon High School is a secondary school located in Armstrong Creek, Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Established in 1963, in the Geelong suburb of Belmont, Oberon High is a single campus years 7–12 school, now situated in the suburb of Armstrong Creek. The current principal is Tim McMahon. The student population is drawn from a very wide urban, rural and coastal area. It is in close proximity to three other large secondary colleges (two state and one non-government) and shares a common boundary with a state primary school.

The Geelong Baseball Centre or Geelong Baseball Park is home to Geelong Baseball Club in Geelong, Victoria during summer and the Guild Allstars Baseball Club and East Belmont Saints Baseball Club during the winter season. In total the Geelong Baseball Centre has four playing fields, with the main diamond being one of the few international standard baseball ballparks in Australia. Features include lighting up to international standard, electronic scoreboard and associated infrastructure in the form of elevated commentary box, outfield sightboards, bullpen tunnels, meeting and dining areas and an indoor training facility. The main stadium is secured and there is ample car parking space. It was built in 2002 to coincide with the World Masters Games and hosted baseball successfully. It has also hosted the Victorian Masters Games, international friendly matches, Claxton Shield 2009 games, 2009 World Masters Games, the 2010 Australian Provincial Championships and 2012 & 2013 U16/U18 National Youth Championships. 2020 U16/U18 National Youth Championships. The complex has been used as a pre-season training camp for the Japanese Pacific League team the Chiba Lotte Marines and Doosan Bears from the Korean KBO league.

Mount Duneed is a suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. It is divided between the City of Greater Geelong and Surf Coast Shire local government areas. Mount Duneed itself is an extinct volcano and the remains of the crater can be seen in the Mount Duneed Recreation Reserve.Much of the locality north of Lower Duneed Road is part of the large Armstrong Creek Growth Area, which was opened up for urban development from 2010. With the gazetting of the suburb Armstrong Creek in February 2012, Mount Duneed's southern boundary between Surf Coast Highway and Horseshoe Bend Road follows the boundary of the Armstrong Creek Urban Growth Area. The area north of Boundary Road, south of the Warrnambool railway line and west of the Surf Coast Highway, formerly part of Grovedale, became part of Mount Duneed.

Marshall railway station is located on the Warrnambool line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the southern Geelong suburb of Marshall, and opened on 26 April 2005.A previous station on the site, called Connewarre, opened on 14 July 1879, and was renamed Marshall on 1 April 1907. That station was closed to passengers on 14 October 1957, and the platform had been removed by 22 July 1958. The station was closed to all traffic on 17 February 1964.During the 2002 Victorian state election, the State Government announced that a new station would be provided in the vicinity to serve the rapidly expanding southernmost suburbs of Geelong. During the planning stages, the station was named Grovedale. In December 2003, it was announced that the new station would be built adjacent to the Marshalltown Road level crossing, on the site of the former Marshall station. Following a naming competition, it was revealed in September 2004 that the new station would be called Marshall.The new station opened on 26 April 2005, and was initially served by Warrnambool line trains only. From September 2005, Geelong line services were extended from South Geelong, and Marshall became the terminus for most Geelong-line trains. Following its opening in October 2014, Waurn Ponds station became the terminus for the majority of Geelong line services.As part of the Regional Rail Revival project, a new station building will be constructed, incorporating an upgraded waiting room and forecourt, and a second platform will be provided, with the platforms to be connected by a pedestrian overpass. There will also be more car parking spaces, an upgraded bus interchange, and improvements to lighting and CCTV coverage. As part of the works, the line between Waurn Ponds and South Geelong will be duplicated, with the exception of the two-kilometre section of track across the Barwon River flood plain. The former Geelong Racecourse station was located between Marshall and South Geelong.

Charlemont is a suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. At the 2021 census, Charlemont had a population of 2,612, growing from 364 taken at the 2016 census. It was gazetted in February 2012 as part of the Armstrong Creek Growth Area, from largely undeveloped land which had formerly been part of Grovedale and Marshall.The Charlemont Rise residential development in the suburb contains several streets named after characters and locations from the Game of Thrones television series, and George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels on which the series is based.

Parkes College is a college of the Waurn Ponds campus of Deakin University. It was developed from 2011 and opened in 2014 as part of the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS).Parkes College offers students studio apartments to rent, featuring private bedrooms, kitchenettes, and bathrooms, as well as shared study rooms.
