Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre is a major regional shopping centre servicing the southern suburbs of the city of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. It is located on the corner of Colac and Pioneer Roads in the suburb of Grovedale. The shopping centre features around 140 stores, including Woolworths, Coles, Kmart, Target, Amart Sports, Reading Cinemas and First Choice Liquor. Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre originally opened in 1985 as Town & Country Shopping World, with a Woolworths supermarket and 12 speciality stores.The shopping centre's first redevelopment in 1996 saw the shopping centre grow in size to include Target. 2000 saw the opening of Reading Cinemas, and then the opening of Coles supermarket followed in 2002. Following this redevelopment in 2002, the Centre was officially renamed Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre this redevelopment was completed by Stephanie Boyd and Chace Rankin.The shopping centre was again redeveloped in 2007 with an expanded Target and 36 new specialty stores. A further two-stage redevelopment in 2014 saw Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre double in size to 48,000 sq/m. The first stage, which opened in May 2014, saw new Kmart and Coles megastores and a food court, whilst stage 2 saw another 40 speciality stores open in August 2014.

It was established in 1979 as the Grovedale Technical High School. It was developed from 2011 and opened in 2014 as part of the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS).Parkes College offers students studio apartments to rent, featuring private bedrooms, kitchenettes, and bathrooms, as well as shared study rooms.

Marcus Oldham College is an agricultural, equine and farm management tertiary education institution located in Geelong, Victoria and is the only private agricultural college operating in Australia. Founded in 1962, the institution attracts enrolments from domestic and international students. At the undergraduate level, the school offers the following degrees: Bachelor of Business in Farm Management, Bachelor of Business in Agribusiness, Associate Degree of Agribusiness, Associate Degree of Farm Business Management, Diploma of Agribusiness, and Diploma of Equine Management. The postgraduate program consists of a Masters, Graduate Certificate and a Graduate Diploma in Agribusiness.In May 2008, the college opened the Centre for the Study of Rural Australia on its campus. The Centre focuses on the intersection of agriculture and rural communities and aims to foster sustainable practices through community involvement.

Barton College is a residential college located at the Waurn Ponds campus of Deakin University. Established in 1989, the college is a residence made up of the Dawson, Evatt, and Hammond buildings. Initially, the college had staff and acted as a community (competing in sporting events, purchasing matching rugby tops). Additionally, each year the 'Boar of the Year' was awarded until 2003. The college also published an annual BarTalk until 1994, when the Bartonian was published for one year.Previously, the Barton Common Room was filled with plaques, photos and awards attributed to the college. However, the re-painting of the building and lack of College activities led to the building featuring only a single Boar shield and the 'Boar of the Year' plaque. Services also include a pool table, air hockey table, and four tennis courts. In 2017, for the annual Deakin Residence Football matches and college merchandise Barton College became known as the 'Barton Bulls'.

Christian College is a K–12 private school located over six campuses in Geelong, Victoria, Australia.Three campuses are located in suburban Geelong: the Senior Campus at Waurn Ponds (Year 10–12), the Middle School in Highton (Year 5–9), and the Junior School in Belmont (Prep–Year 4). The Bellarine Campus is located in Drysdale (Prep–Year 9), and the Surf Coast campus is located in the coastal town of Torquay, which opened in 2018. There are also two other specialist campuses: "Back Creek" in Scotsburn (near Ballarat) is a dairy farm attended by Year 9 students, including Back Creek Cafe located in Meredith. The specialised Arts centre, Villa Paloma, is located off campus in Waurn Ponds a short distance from the Senior School, where VCE Arts students have their classes. Christian College also offers preschool kindergarten programs at the Junior School campus in Belmont (Williams House Kindergarten), and at the Surf Coast campus in Jan Juc (Butterfield House Kindergarten). Christian College students are from a number of different areas in Geelong, these areas include Torquay, Drysdale, Anglesea, Ocean Grove, Queenscliff and Winchelsea as well as a majority from Geelong itself. Notable people to have gone to Christian College Geelong include AFL players Gary Ablett, Jr., Nathan Ablett, Matt Maguire, Taylor Adams, Connor Idun, AFLW player Renee Garing, netballer Tegan Philip (nee Caldwell), and Olympian Jakara Anthony.

Grovedale was a railway station on the outskirts of Geelong, located on the Warrnambool railway line in Victoria, Australia. Located near the current Torquay Road (Surfcoast Highway) level crossing, the station opened in 1876 as Germantown and was renamed Grovedale in February 1916.

Belmont High School is an Australian public high school located in Belmont, Victoria, a suburb in the city of Geelong. It is one of the largest public schools in Geelong. The school was established in 1955 and as of 2019, it has an enrolment of over 1300 students from years 7 to 12.The school has been progressively refurbished, with the most recent work costing $6.66 million and comprising new administration and staff areas, canteen, and four "learning centres".There is a new Science-Technology centre called 'BioLab' that was completed in 2010 that is accessible for schools throughout Geelong to utilise.

Alfred Deakin College (formerly Deakin College) is a residential college at the Waurn Ponds campus of Deakin University. The first of the Deakin colleges, it came to be in 1973 when the Gordon Institute Council (one of the councils responsible for the development of the University) formed a committee to oversee the construction of the original two unit blocks; the Collins and Laird units. Between 1977 and 1985, the Wookey, Boyd, and Gordon Units (respectively) were constructed in the Deakin College. The Percy Baxter Common Room (opened in 1982) facilitates the college, named after Percy Baxter Charitable Trust, whom financed the building.In 2017, the college became officially known as Alfred Deakin College rather than Deakin College, and the Evatt Units, formerly of the Barton College, joined the college.

Deakin University's School of Medicine is based at the Waurn Ponds campus in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. It offers a four-year, graduate-entry, Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. The medical degree is a 4 year course, with 2 years of pre-clinical education at the University campus in Waurn Ponds, and then 2 years clinical education and experience in one of 5 clinical schools. The School has also developed other new undergraduate and postgraduate programs, namely Optometry, Medical Imaging, Agricultural Health and Medicine, Units in the Bachelor of Biomedical Science and Health Science Majors, Bachelor of Health and Medical Science Honours, and a Masters in Clinical Leadership.
