Sheffield Lock

Draper's Osier Bed Stream is a small stream in southern England, in the county of Berkshire. It is formed at a weir on a section of the River Kennet running alongside the Kennet and Avon Canal, and travels east for a while, before merging with the Kennet upstream of the head of the Holy Brook stream. An osier bed is where historically willows were planted and coppiced to produce withies which were used for basket making, fish-traps, and other purposes. The willow species salix viminalis was typically grown for this purpose. Willow rods (cuttings) would be planted, which root easily in moist ground, and the growth of the willow withies would be cut every one or two years.

Garston Lock (grid reference SU655707) is a lock on the Kennet and Avon Canal. It is near the M4 motorway and near Reading, England. Garston Lock was built between 1718 and 1723 under the supervision of the engineer John Hore of Newbury, and this stretch of the river is now administered by Canal & River Trust and known as the Kennet Navigation. It has a rise/fall of 7 ft 7ins (2.29m).One of only two remaining working examples of turf sided locks on the canal (the other being Monkey Marsh Lock), Garston Lock has been described as needing "more water to operate than the now more common brick or stone-sided variety" as the sloping sides increase the volume of the lock.The two sets of lock gates work differently: the upper set operates via a mechanical system, while the lower gates are hydraulic. The top part of the lock chamber has sloping banks which are covered by vegetation of various types rather than by turf. An arrangement of steel rails ensures that boats stay in the centre of the lock during the rise/fall of 7 ft 7 in (2.31 m). The lock is a grade II* listed building.Two pillboxes dating from World War II at the northwest and southeast corners of the lock, which were built as anti tank defences, are also listed buildings.

Theale () is a village and civil parish in the West Berkshire unitary area of the county of Berkshire, England. It is 5 miles (8 km) southwest of Reading and 10 miles (16 km) east of Thatcham. The compact parish is bounded to the south and south-east by the Kennet & Avon Canal (which here incorporates the River Kennet), to the north by a golf course, to the east by the M4 motorway and to the west by the A340 road.

Pincent's Kiln is a 0.2-hectare (0.49-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest situated between Theale and Calcot, on the western edge of the built-up area of Reading in the English county of Berkshire. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.The site is a former Quarry which reveals important geological features It is the only remaining permanent exposure of the Tertiary Reading Beds in the area from which they were first described. The site provides evidence that a shallow sea spread over this area some 60 million years ago. The site contains a number of fossil flora of higher plants, with a number of species of fossil fruits and seeds.The site is private land with no public access, forming the northern and eastern boundaries of the Pincents Kiln Industrial Park, and the western boundary of the headquarters of the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. It lies within the civil parish of Tilehurst Without, which is in the area of the unitary authority of West Berkshire and the ceremonial county of Berkshire.

Holy Trinity Church, Theale is a Church of England parish church in the Diocese of Oxford. It was completed in 1832 in the Early English style, influenced by Salisbury Cathedral. The church is a Grade I listed building.

Sulhamstead Lock is a lock on the River Kennet to the east of Sulhamstead in the English county of Berkshire. Sulhamstead Lock was built between 1718 and 1723 under the supervision of the engineer John Hore of Newbury, and this stretch of the river is now administered by the Canal & River Trust as part of the Kennet Navigation. It has a change in level of 4 ft 1 in (1.24 m). The lock is 6 mi 5 furlongs (11 km) from the confluence with the River Thames.The lock was rebuilt in 1966 by a collaboration involving staff from British Waterways and volunteer labour.

Wilder's Folly (also known as Pincent's Kiln, Nunhide Tower and Flint's Folly) is a folly and dovecote at Nunhide, near the village of Sulham in the English county of Berkshire.
