Kälvesta is a suburban district in the Hässelby-Vällingby borough in western Stockholm. Most of Kälvesta was built during the late 1960s and the 1970s. Kälvesta has two middle schools (Sörgårdsskolan and Björnbodaskolan). The two buses 119 and 116 pass through Kälvesta on their way to either Spånga Station or Vällingby Centrum. In 1977 Linjeflyg Flight 618 crashed in the area killing all 22 aboard, including table tennis player Hans Alsér.

The other districts that make up the borough are Backlura, Kälvesta, Nälsta, Råcksta and Vinsta. As of 2004, the population is 58,796 in an area of 19.60 km2, which gives a density of 2,999.80/km2. The name is taken from Hässelby Castle (Hesselby Slott) which included large areas within the present three districts. The port of Hässelby also includes parts of Vinsta. The castle is located in the present district of Hässelby Gård but in the postcode of Vällingby.

Grimsta IP is a multi-use stadium in Vällingby, Sweden. It is currently used for football matches and is the home stadium of IF Brommapojkarna. The stadium holds 5,000 people after the latest expansion. The latest expansion took place between 2015 and 2017 with the construction of the new stand that cost 57 million kronor, it includes also the construction of new locker rooms, a new press stand and a new bar. The new stand, with more than 2,000 seats, fulfills the requirement of the Swedish football association for having the license for playing in Superettan and Allsvenskan. The inauguration of the New Grimsta IP was celebrated on 8 April 2017 with the Superettan football game between IF Brommapojkarna and Örgryte (3-0) in front of 1,722 spectators.

In November 1958 the line was extended further west to Hässelby strand.

Hjulsta metro station is a station on the blue line of the Stockholm metro, located in Hjulsta, northern Stockholm. The station was opened on 31 August 1975 as the northern terminus of the first stretch of the Blue Line from T-Centralen. The trains were then running via Hallonbergen and Rinkeby.
