Royal Air Force Brüggen, more commonly known as RAF Brüggen, (IATA: BGN, ICAO: EDUR) in Germany was a major station of the Royal Air Force until 15 June 2001. It was situated next to the village of Elmpt, approximately 43 kilometres (27 mi) west of Düsseldorf on the Dutch-German border. The base was named after the village of Brüggen, the nearest rail depot. Construction began in mid-1952, which involved the clearing of forest and draining of marshland. The station became active in 1953 during the rapid expansion of NATO forces in Europe. The main paint shop situated next to the main runway was responsible for the surface finishing of all aircraft, ground equipment and RAF Regiment Rapier missile systems. In 2002, it was handed over to the British Army and renamed Javelin Barracks.

Kolleg St. Ludwig is a Maharishi European Research University (MERU) campus located in Vlodrop, The Netherlands. It was originally built in 1909, used as a Franciscan friary and boarding school and purchased by the Maharishi Foundation in 1984. The campus is near the villages of Vlodrop-station and Vlodrop in Limburg, the Netherlands, adjacent to the Dutch–German border and the defunct Iron Rhine railroad, and is surrounded by Meinweg National Park.

Vlodrop-station (Limburgish and town dialect: Vlórp-Statie) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located on the German border, about 5 km (3.1 mi) east of the village Vlodrop, in the municipality of Roerdalen. The hamlet is named after the railway station of Vlodrop, which was located on the Iron Rhine connection between Antwerp, Belgium, and locations in Germany. The location was chosen because the Belgian owners of the railway line could get free land there, and because of the proximity to the border meant that customs officers had extra powers. The station was bombed in 1944, and never rebuilt.

Asenray (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈaːsə(n)raːi]; Limburgish: Azeraoj [ˈaːzəʀɔːj]) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Roermond, and lies about 3 km east of Roermond. It was first mentioned in 1267 as "vicum qui dicitur Asenraede", and means "forest cultivation by Aso (person)". Asenray was home to 194 people in 1840. A church was built in 1932. In 1945, just before liberation, it was blown up by the Germans. In 1948, a new church was built.

Boukoul is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Roermond, and is situated about 5 km northeast of Roermond. The village was first mentioned in 1463 as "opter Buyeckulen". The etymology is unclear.Boukoul was home to 322 people in 1840. Hillenraad Castle was built in the 17th century as a manor house. It received its current shape in 1767. In 1935, a church was built in Boukoul. In 1945, several days before liberation, the tower was blown up by the Germans. It was restored in 1947.Boukoul used to be part of the municipality of Swalmen. In 2007, it became part of the municipality of Roermond.

Reutje or 't Reutje (Dutch pronunciation: [(ət) ˈrøːcə]; Limburgish: 't Räötje [ət ˈʀœːtʃə]) is a hamet in Dutch Limburg. It belongs to the municipality of Roerdalen. It lies a few km from Sint Odiliënberg. It was first mentioned in 1251 as "curtis in Raetken", and means "cultivated forest". Reutje has place name signs. It was home to 184 people in 1840.There is a small café 'Bie Tiel' and a big fanfare, Sint Wiro. Reutje also has its own song: Träötje mien Landj, composed by Wiel Janssen and Pièrre Bonné.

It was first mentioned between 1803 and 1820 as Etzenberg. The etymology is unclear. Unlike most hamlets, Etsberg has a dense triangular core. It was home to 234 people in 1840.
