Wetterhorn Elevator

The Gleckstein Hut (German: Glecksteinhütte) is a mountain hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, located east of Grindelwald in the canton of Bern. The hut lies at a height of 2,317 metres above sea level, above the Upper Grindelwald Glacier, at the foot of the Wetterhorn in the Bernese Alps. In addition to be a popular goal for hikers, the hut is used for the ascent of the Wetterhorn and the Schreckhorn.

The Mettenberg (also spelled Mättenberg) is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland. It lies north of the Schreckhorn and forms a huge buttress of the Schreckhorn range. From Grindelwald, an aerial tramway goes as high as Pfingstegg (1,387 m), which is situated below the first cliffs of the mountain.

The Upper Grindelwald Glacier (German: Oberer Grindelwaldgletscher) is one of the two valley glaciers near Grindelwald on the northern side of the Bernese Alps, in the canton of Bern (the other being the Lower Grindelwald Glacier). It had a length of about 6.6 km (4.1 mi) and covered an area of 9.6 km2 (3.7 sq mi) in 1973. The Upper Grindelwald Glacier arises from a vast snow field north of the Schreckhorn and south of the Wetterhorn. The glacier tongue is currently at around 1,400 metres (4,600 ft) above sea level, making it one of the lowest glaciers in the Alps.

The Kleines Schreckhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located south of Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland. It lies between the valleys of the Lower Grindelwald Glacier and the Upper Grindelwald Glacier, north of the Schreckhorn.

The Wetterhorn (Swiss Standard German pronunciation: [ˈvɛtərˌhɔrn]; 3,690 m) is a peak in the Swiss Alps towering above the village of Grindelwald. Formerly known as Hasle Jungfrau, it is one of three summits on a mountain named the "Wetterhörner", the highest of which is the Mittelhorn (3,702 m) and the lowest and most distant the Rosenhorn (3,689 m). The latter peaks are mostly hidden from view from Grindelwald. The Grosse Scheidegg Pass crosses the col to the north, between the Wetterhorn and the Schwarzhorn.

First is a mountain location and minor summit on the slopes of the Schwarzhorn in the Bernese Oberland. It is mostly known as a cable car station above Grindelwald (Firstbahn) and as a popular hiking area with the Bachalpsee in proximity. It is also the destination of the classic hike: Schynige Platte-Faulhorn-First.

The Grosse Scheidegg (Swiss Standard German pronunciation: [ˈɡroːsə ˈʃaɪdɛg]) is a mountain pass in the Bernese Alps of Switzerland, The pass crosses the col between the Schwarzhorn and the Wetterhorn mountains at an elevation of 1,962 m (6,437 ft). The pass is traversed by a road connecting the town of Meiringen, at an elevation of 595 m (1,952 ft), with the village of Grindelwald, at an elevation of 1,034 m (3,392 ft). The road is closed to most traffic, but is used by a PostBus Switzerland service from Grindelwald to the summit of the pass, with some buses continuing to Meiringen. Bus services operate between May and October, with between four and ten buses a day depending on time of year and section of the route. Hiking over the pass is popular, and it forms part of the cross-country Alpine Pass Route between Sargans and Montreux. From the Meiringen side, the approach to the pass runs through the valley of the Reichenbach stream above the Reichenbach Falls, best known as the place of the last fight between Holmes and Moriarty. The falls can be visited from the pass road, or by using the Reichenbachfall Funicular from the valley bottom. The Berghotel, a restaurant and hotel, is situated at the summit of the Grosse Scheidegg. Prior to the coming of the railways and the introduction of tourism to the area, the Grosse Scheidegg provided access for local livestock and dairy farmers to the important export route to Italy over the Grimsel Pass. With the coming of the railways, the importance of the pass as a trade route disappeared, and the pass never achieved the level of tourist visitors achieved by its neighbour, the Kleine Scheidegg.

Grindelwald railway station (German: Bahnhof Grindelwald) is a railway station in the village and municipality of Grindelwald in the Swiss canton of Bern. The station is the terminus of both the Berner Oberland Bahn (BOB), whose trains operate services to Interlaken Ost, and of the Wengernalpbahn (WAB), whose trains operate to Kleine Scheidegg via Grindelwald Grund.The BOB and WAB lines use different gauges, and there is no physical connection between them. However the trains operate from adjacent platforms within the same station. Trains of both lines enter the station from its western end. Counter-intuitively, the WAB commences its ascent to Kleine Scheidegg by descending steeply to Grindelwald Grund, where it reverses and commences its climb.

The Mittelhorn (3,702 m) is a peak in the Swiss Alps close to the village of Grindelwald. It is the highest of the three composing the Wetterhorner massif.

Grindelwald is a village and municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Berne. In addition to the village of Grindelwald, the municipality also includes the settlements of Alpiglen, Burglauenen, Grund, Itramen, Mühlebach, Schwendi, Tschingelberg and Wargistal. Grindelwald village is located at 1,034 m (3,392 ft) above sea level. Mentioned for the first time in 1146, it has become an important tourist destination of both Switzerland and the Alps since the golden age of alpinism in the 19th century. It is overlooked by a section of the Bernese Alps from the Wetterhorn to the Eiger, which create a natural barrier. Together with the adjacent valley of Lauterbrunnen, the valley of Grindelwald forms part of the Jungfrau Region of the Bernese Oberland, between Interlaken and the main crest of the Bernese Alps. Similarly to Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald is connected to Interlaken by the Bernese Oberland Railway and is the start of the Wengernalp Railway, leading to Kleine Scheidegg. The latter resort is the start of the Jungfrau Railway, the highest railway in Europe and a gateway to the Jungfrau-Aletsch protected area.

The Schreckhorn Hut (German: Schreckhornhütte) is a mountain hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, located south of Grindelwald in the canton of Bern. The hut lies at a height of 2,529 metres above sea level, above the Lower Grindelwald Glacier, at the foot of the Schreckhorn in the Bernese Alps. From Grindelwald and Pfingstegg a trail leads to the hut via Bäregg.

The Schreckhorn (4,078 m) is a mountain in the Bernese Alps. It is the highest peak located entirely in the canton of Bern. The Schreckhorn is the northernmost Alpine four-thousander and the northernmost summit rising above 4,000 metres in Europe.
