Pugin Hall

Rampisham ( or ) is a village and civil parish in the county of Dorset in southern England, situated approximately 11 miles (18 km) northwest of the county town Dorchester. The village is sited on greensand in a valley surrounded by the chalk hills of the Dorset Downs. The parish includes the hamlet of Uphall northwest of the main village. Dorset County Council's 2013 mid-year estimate for the population of Rampisham parish is 110. The principal means of making a living is agricultural, mainly grain production.

Wraxall Manor is a grade II* listed manor house in Wraxall, Dorset, England. The house was built in about 1630, probably for William Lawrence.

West Hill is a prominent hill, 224 metres (735 ft) high, just to the west of the village of Evershot in the county of Dorset in southern England. Its prominence of 63 metres (207 ft) means it is listed as one of the Tumps. It is located within the Dorset Downs. The summit is relatively flat and open. A public footpath runs past the summit to the south and there is a lane called Horsey Knap that crosses the northern flank of the hill and descends into Evershot.

Rampisham Down is a chalk hill in the Dorset Downs, eight miles north west of Dorchester in west Dorset, England. The highest part of the hill is 221 metres (720 feet). To the north east of the hill is the Frome valley and the village of Rampisham, to the south west is the Hooke valley and the village of Hooke. The A356 road between Dorchester and Crewkerne cuts across the down.

Evershot is a village and civil parish in the county of Dorset in southwest England, situated approximately 7 miles (11 km) south of Yeovil in Somerset. It is the second highest village in the county at 175 metres (574 ft) above sea-level. Evershot parish encompasses part of the nearby hamlet of Holywell, 1.25 miles (2.01 km) east of Evershot village. Dorset County Council's latest (2013) estimate of the parish population is 210. The village has connections with the writer Thomas Hardy.

East Chelborough is a small village and civil parish 7 miles (11 km) north-east of Beaminster in Dorset, England. Dorset County Council estimated in 2013 that the population of the parish was 50. On the top of the ridge at the nearby Castle Hill are the earthwork remains of a motte-and-bailey castle.

West Chelborough is a village and civil parish 13 miles (21 km) northwest of Dorchester, in the Dorset district, in the county of Dorset, England. In 2001, the parish had a population of 42. The parish touches Corscombe and East Chelborough.

Melbury Sampford is a village and civil parish 12 miles (19 km) northwest of Dorchester, in the Dorset district, in the ceremonial county of Dorset, England. In 2001 the parish had a population of 33. The parish touches East Chelborough, Evershot, Melbury Bubb, Melbury Osmond and Stockwood.

Melbury House is an English country house in the parish of Melbury Sampford near Evershot, Dorset. The Grade I listed mansion is the home of the Honourable Charlotte Townshend, a major landowner in east Dorset, through her mother, Theresa Fox-Strangways (Viscountess Galway), daughter and heiress of Harry Fox-Strangways, 7th Earl of Ilchester.

Hooke is a small village and civil parish in the county of Dorset in southern England, situated about 7 miles (11 km) northeast of the town of Bridport. It is sited in the valley of the short River Hooke, a tributary of the River Frome, amongst the chalk hills of the Dorset Downs. In the 2011 census the parish had a population of 157.Rampisham Down, the hill immediately northeast of the village, is the site of a transmitter station operated by VT Communications, broadcasting long-range radio signals for clients including BBC World Service. The outskirts of the village are home to Hooke Court and its surrounding parklands. Originally built in 1407 by Humphrey Stafford, the Court was extended in 1609 by the Marquis of Winchester.To the southwest of the village are Warren Hill and the woods of Hooke Park on its western flanks.

West Dorset was a local government district in Dorset, England. The district was formed on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, and was a merger of the boroughs of Bridport, Dorchester and Lyme Regis, along with Sherborne urban district and the rural districts of Beaminster, Bridport, Dorchester and Sherborne. Its council was based in Dorchester. The district and its council were abolished on 1 April 2019 and, together with the other four districts outside the greater Bournemouth area, replaced by a new Dorset unitary authority.
