Milltown is a village in Derbyshire, England. It is located 1 mile south east of Ashover and is part of Ashover civil parish. To the north of the village is Milltown Quarry, now closed. It is a small quarry, which was open for limestone extraction. Milltown once had a station on the Ashover Light Railway, which closed in 1936. The listed Milltown Methodist Church is located in the village.

Dale Bank railway station served the hamlet of Dalebank, Derbyshire, England, from 1925 to 1936 on the Ashover Light Railway.

Milltown Methodist Church (known alternatively as Milltown Chapel, Milltown Primative Methodist Chapel and Ashover Hay Primative Methodist Chapel) is a now-closed, listed Methodist chapel in the village of Milltown, Derbyshire. The chapel was founded by Hugh Bourne who formed a society in the district. The building, which also has a graveyard (though this no longer present), was opened in 1824, and was expanded in 1870. The building is built from coursed gritstone with a roof of Welsh slate. The chapel became Grade II listed in 1995. Worship ceased at an unrecorded date after c. 2007.

Ashover is a village and civil parish in the English county of Derbyshire. It is in the North East Derbyshire district of the county. The population of the civil parish taken at the 2011 Census was 1,905. It sits in a valley, not far from the town of Matlock and the Peak District national park. The centre of the village is a conservation area. The River Amber flows through the village. Although Ashover is a small settlement, the actual ward boundaries of the village extend for many miles, including the nearby settlements of Alicehead, Alton, Ashover Hay, Farhill, Kelstedge, Littlemoor, Milltown, Spitewinter, Stone Edge and Uppertown. The two major roads, running through the parish, are the A632 from Matlock to Chesterfield, and the A615 from Matlock to Alfreton. The area along that part of the A615 is named Doehole. Slack is a small hamlet, within the parish, which is south west of Kelstedge on the A632; nearby to there, on Robridding Road (off Wirestone Lane), is the Eddlestow Lot Picnic Site, which has been developed in the former Wirestone Quarry: it is surrounded by heathland vegetation. The picnic site provides a good base to explore the local Public Rights of Way. Circular walks are waymarked from the car park, a leaflet is available by contacting the County Council. There is public access into many of the adjacent Forestry Commission owned woodlands. The site has plants including heather and bilberry. The other numbered roads in the parish are the B5057 from near North Brittain to Stone Edge, the B6036 between Kelstedge and Dalebank running past Ashover itself, and the B6014 from near Butterley to just past Ashover Hay. Fallgate is a hamlet beside the River Amber, in the south-east corner of the parish, off the B6036 to Woolley Moor and Handley.

Littlemoor is a small village near the town of Chesterfield. Its population is around 100. It is the closest village to Ashover Rock (otherwise known as the Fabrick), Ashover. Every year, near Christmas time carol singing takes place in the village green. There is an old chapel in the centre of the village which is now a holiday home. The houses in Littlemoor are a mix of mostly bungalows and semi-detached houses.

Woolley Moor is a small village in the North East Derbyshire district of Derbyshire, England. Its amenities include a school, a church and a public house called the White Horse. Almost all of the villagers work outside the village although there are two family run dairy farms creating employment for a handful of people.

Rattle is a hamlet in the English county of Derbyshire. It is part of the village of Ashover. This portion of the village was the centre of stocking frame working in Ashover and probably derives its name from the noise made by the machines. The frames were owned and operated by individual families who converted the top floors of their already cramped cottages to accommodate the large, complex machines. Raw materials, such as silk or cotton, where obtained from a local entrepreneur. He would then collect the finished stockings and pay the machinist a piece rate, usually very low. In the 18th century and 19th century, most of the cottages then existing in Rattle housed at least one spinning or weaving frame. Today, the only surviving 'weaver's cottages' are at the junction of Chapel Hill and Hill Road.

Alton is a very small village in Derbyshire, England. Alton is in the civil parish of Ashover, and is around 2 miles away from Clay Cross although it is not part of the town. The village does not have a church, a school or a public house; the nearest public house is in Ashover. Being a rural community, Alton is surrounded by several farms. Alton also has easy access to local landmark Ashover Rock, or the Fabrick as it is locally known.
