Leicester Carriage Sidings are located in Leicester, Leicestershire, England, on the eastern side of the Midland Main Line to the north of Leicester station.

Highfields is an inner city area of Leicester, England. It is one of the highest areas in the city, on high ground southeast of the city centre. To the west the area is bounded by the Midland Main Line, to the south by London Road (A6), and to the east by East Park Road. To the north is Spinney Hills, though there is no clear boundary between the two areas, and Spinney Hills (which extends northwards to Humberstone Road) is often considered to be part of Highfields. The neighbourhood is within walking distance of the city centre of Leicester and offers many amenities for religious, social, cultural and commercial activities. The population is split between the Spinney Hills, Wycliffe and Stoneygate wards of the Leicester City Council. A section of the area running between London Road, Evington Road and St Peter's Road was designated as the South Highfields Conservation Area in April 1981. This conservation area originally had an area of approximately 22.20 hectares. The boundaries of the conservation area were reassessed in 2003, and it was reduced to approximately 20.55 hectares.Highfields is bounded by London Road and Evington Road meaning that it has a large amount of amenities on its doorstep. Notably this includes the railway station, many Mosques (the biggest includes a leisure centre within its grounds), Churches, Temples, a modern health centre, nurseries, schools, local shops, restaurants, community centres and banks. The area also has a public library which is located on Melbourne Road.

The A594 Central Ring is the name of Leicester's central distributor road network.With the continuing regeneration of the inner city, the Central Ring has become a route within the city centre rather than one that encloses it; especially near the New Walk/Freemen's/University of Leicester and the Bede Island/Waterside/De Montfort University districts, to the south and west of the urban core respectively.

Leicester railway station (formerly Leicester Campbell Street and Leicester London Road) is a mainline railway station in the city of Leicester in Leicestershire, England. The station is managed by East Midlands Railway and owned by Network Rail. The station is served by CrossCountry and East Midlands Railway services. Leicester station was opened in 1840 by the Midland Counties Railway, and rebuilt in 1894 and 1978. It is on the Midland Main Line, which runs from London St Pancras to Sheffield and Nottingham. It is 99 miles 7 chains (159.5 km) north of London St Pancras.

Phoenix Cinema and Arts Centre is a cinema, art gallery and café bar in the city centre of Leicester, England. The two modern cinema screens show everything from micro-budget independent films to the latest Hollywood blockbusters, and there are often festivals and events. The regularly changing art programme presents work by local and international artists, and the education programme provides courses for people of all ages to learn about, and create their own, film and art. During 2014-2015 the venue hosted over 200,000 visitors.Phoenix is a charity with an overarching aim to 'bring inspiring film and art to all' and was established in 1989. This mission is enacted through its education programme, grants and events to develop upcoming artistic talent and efforts to widen access to cinema, especially through its travelling community cinema. Much of this work is financed through its mainstream cinema ticket sales and its cafe-bar, with sales in these areas increasing by around 10% during 2014-2015.The venue is currently situated in the Phoenix Square building. Work began on constructing the £21.5 million scheme in November 2007 and was completed in Autumn 2009: Phoenix Square officially opened on 19 November 2009. The cinema replaces the Phoenix Arts Centre, and maintains strong links with De Montfort University. The building houses a digital exhibition space and digital production facilities, two cinema screens, a screen room and screen lounge. Space is provided for 37 new creative businesses, as well as a cafe/bar open to the public. The venue was formerly known as Phoenix Square, and has been previously referred to as Leicester Digital Media Centre.

Athena is a Grade II-listed events venue in the cultural quarter of Leicester City Centre, England. Built originally as an Odeon Cinema in 1936, it closed for most of the 1990s and remained vacant up until 2005, where the building was restored as a multi-discipline events venue.

The Curve Theatre is a theatre in Leicester, England, based in the cultural quarter in Leicester City Centre. Before being named Curve, it was referred to as Leicester Performing Arts Centre. It is adjacent to the Leicester Athena conference and banqueting centre.

Summer Sundae Fringe Festival (also called the Summer Sundae Fringe) was an annual music festival, running from 2006 to 2010 and held in Leicester, England, which focused on showcasing artistic talents and communities within the city of Leicester. It was created by Andy Black and Richard Haswell and subsequently run and organised with the help of the Leicestershire based music forum Pineapster, who strove to organise promoters, venues, organisers and musical acts to organise and run their own events in promotion of their own talents and showcase the best of the cities talent whilst fundraising for charity. The festival began as a one off warm up party in 2006 and grew year on year (until 2010), to a two-week showcase of musical talents, in a wide variety of venues and locations across Leicester. The fringe festival was scheduled to occur annually across the first two weeks of August each year. The fringe traditionally culminated with a series of warm up parties, across Leicester city centre, occurring on the Thursday evening before the start of the Summer Sundae Weekender event. These warm up parties are formally titled 'Fringe Thursday', and are linked by an open top bus service, included within ticket price, which provides party goers with transport to move them from event to event. All artists appearing at Fringe Thursday events donated their time and services for free. Tickets were sold for Fringe Thursday and had to be exchanged for a wristband to allow bus entry. The event occurred for the last time in 2010.

De Montfort Hall is the largest music and performance venue in Leicester, England. It is situated adjacent to Victoria Park and is named after the "Father of Parliament", Simon de Montfort, Earl of Leicester.
