Memphis International Airport (IATA: MEM, ICAO: KMEM, FAA LID: MEM) is a civil-military airport located seven miles (11 km) southeast of Downtown Memphis in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States. It is the primary international airport serving Memphis. It covers 3,900 acres (1,600 ha) and has four runways.It is home to the FedEx Express global hub, often referred to as the FedEx Superhub or simply the Superhub, which processes many of the company's packages. Nonstop FedEx destinations from Memphis include cities across the continental United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and South America. From 1993 to 2009, Memphis International had the largest cargo operations of any airport worldwide. It dropped to the second position in 2010, just behind Hong Kong. It still remained the busiest cargo airport in the United States and in the Western Hemisphere, until 2020, when it once again became the world's busiest cargo handling airport due to the surge in ecommerce partly caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.The airport averages over 80 passenger flights per day. The 164th Airlift Wing of the Tennessee Air National Guard is based at the co-located Memphis Air National Guard Base, operating C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft.

Memphis Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZME) (radio communications, "Memphis Center") is one of 22 United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Area Control Centers and is located at 3229 Democrat Rd, Memphis, Tennessee 38118, United StatesThe primary responsibility of Memphis Center is sequencing and separation of over-flights, arrivals, and departures in order to provide safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of aircraft filed under instrument flight rules (IFR). Memphis Center is the 11th busiest ARTCC in the United States. Between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017, Memphis Center handled 2,145,204 aircraft operations. Memphis Center covers approximately 120,000 square miles of the Midwestern United States and Southern United States, including parts or all of Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Memphis Center lies adjacent to five Air Route Traffic Control Centers: Fort Worth Air Route Traffic Control Center, Atlanta Air Route Traffic Control Center, Houston Air Route Traffic Control Center, Kansas City Air Route Traffic Control Center, and Indianapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center. ZME overlies or abuts many approach control facilities (including Memphis, Fayetteville, Nashville, Huntsville, Jackson, Little Rock, Chattanooga, and Columbus AFB).

South Memphis, one of the oldest portions of Memphis, Tennessee, is a community stretching from Midtown and Downtown to the Mississippi state line. In its early days, it was primarily an agrarian community. But South Memphis is known for its plentiful houses of worship including Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Westwood, St. Andrew AME Church, Washington Chapel CME Church, East Trigg Baptist Church, White's Chapel AME Church, Union Valley Baptist Church, Enon Springs Baptist Church, Warner Temple AME Zion Church, Unity Baptist Church, Ford's Chapel AME Zion Church, St. Augustine Catholic Church, and Monumental Baptist Church, just naming a few.

Hillcrest High School is a public high school (grades 9–12), located in Memphis, Tennessee and is served by the Green Dot Public Schools system. The school has an enrollment of 525 students. The vast majority of students are African American. The school was previously operated by Memphis City Schools district, after MCS merged with the Shelby County Schools in July 2013.

Oakville was a community in Tennessee located just east of the current site of the Memphis International Airport. It was centered along the Route of US 78 (Lamar Avenue) just a little northeast of the intersection with Getwell Road. In 1950, it had a population of 2,000. In 1958, Nonconnah Creek just to the north of Oakville, came very close to being the southern boundary of Memphis. Oakville was located along the SLSF railway, about five miles northeast of the Capleville community. Oakville has since been annexed by Memphis as part of that city's expansion.

Southland Mall is a regional shopping mall in the Whitehaven neighborhood of South Memphis, Tennessee. It was built in 1966, becoming the first enclosed mall in the Mid-South. It is managed and owned by Namdar Realty Group. There are over 60 stores. There are two vacant anchors last occupied by Macy's and Sears. On January 9, 2015, it was announced that Macy's would be closing as part of a plan to close 14 stores nationwide. The store closed in early Spring 2015.On November 8, 2018, it was announced that Sears would also be closing in February 2019 as part of a plan to close 40 stores nationwide which left the mall with no anchors.

Graceland is a mansion on a 13.8-acre (5.6-hectare) estate in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, once owned by American singer Elvis Presley. Presley is buried there, as are his parents, paternal grandmother, grandson, and daughter. Graceland is located at 3764 Elvis Presley Boulevard in the Whitehaven, Memphis neighborhood, about nine miles (14 kilometres) south of central Memphis and fewer than four miles (6.4 km) north of the Mississippi border. It was opened to the public as a house museum on June 7, 1982, and attracts more than 650,000 visitors annually.Graceland was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on November 7, 1991, becoming the first site recognized for significance related to rock music. It was declared a National Historic Landmark on March 27, 2006, also a first for such a site. Elvis's father, Vernon, first inherited Graceland after his death on August 16, 1977. Lisa Marie Presley inherited Graceland after she turned 25 years old, according to a document which named Elvis's ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, as trustee. Following Lisa Marie's death on January 12, 2023, her eldest daughter, Riley Keough, became the sole trustee and owner.

Southaven is a city in DeSoto County, Mississippi, United States. It is a principal city in Greater Memphis. The 2020 census reported a population of 54,648, making it the 3rd most populous city in Mississippi and the 2nd most populous suburb of Memphis. Southaven is traversed north to south by the I-55/I-69 freeway. The city's name derives from the fact that Southaven is located south of Whitehaven, a neighborhood in Memphis.
