Martello Court is a residential building and one of the tallest buildings in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is 64 metres (210 ft) high, with 23 floors. It is on Pennywell Gardens in Muirhouse, in the north-west of the city. It was known as the Terror Tower in the 1970s and 1980s because of the crime around it.

Blackhall is a suburb in the north west of the Scottish capital city Edinburgh. It is a mainly residential area with amenities including a library and a small number of shops.

Craigcrook is a suburb of Edinburgh, Scotland, best known for Craigcrook Castle. It is fairly affluent, and lies on the north east slopes of Corstorphine Hill. It is near Clerwood, and Blackhall. Davidson's Mains lies to the north, separated from the district by the A90 - Queensferry Road. Apart from Craigcrook Castle and a few isolated farm buildings the area was featureless until 1920, when it became part of the several open lands (including Craigentinny and Drylaw) acquired by the then Edinburgh Corporation and used for low density bungalow development. The low density and distance from the city centre renders the area difficult to support local small shops and public transport. There are no supermarkets whatsoever within the district, but the adjoining districts of Davidson's Mains and Blackhall (Craigleith) cater to local needs.

Craigcrook Castle is a 6,701 square feet (622.5 m2) castle giving its name to the Craigcrook district of Edinburgh, about 3 miles (4.8 km) west of the centre of Edinburgh, Scotland. The castle is primarily of the 17th century, though with later additions. In the 19th century, it was the home of Francis Jeffrey, Lord Jeffrey, and became known for its literary gatherings. It is a category B listed building.

Craigroyston Community High School is a non-denominational community secondary school in Edinburgh. The current headteacher is Shelley McLaren.

Silverknowes is a district of Edinburgh, Scotland. Silverknowes lies to the northwest of the city. The district contains over 2000 homes, ranging in size from bungalow to semi-detached housing, much of it built during the mid-twentieth century. It holds the EH4 postcode. Silverknowes is surrounded by Davidson's Mains (former village) to the south, Barnton, Lauriston to the west, and Muirhouse to the east.

The Mary Erskine School, popularly known as "Mary Erskine's" or "MES", is an all-girls private secondary school in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was founded in 1694 and has a roll of around 750 pupils. It is the sister school of the all-boys Stewart's Melville College (SMC) with which MES shares a coeducational nursery and junior school for pupils aged 3–11.The majority of its pupils live in the surrounding area (Edinburgh, Lothian and Fife) but boarding facilities are available. About 3% of the pupils are boarders. The school is non-denominational but claims to have a broadly Christian outlook. Both MES and SMC are managed by the Merchant Company of Edinburgh which is also responsible for the city's George Watson's College. In 2014 the combined Erskine Stewarts Melville school claimed to be the largest independent school in Europe.Although the school is single sex, some activities, although not teaching, are carried out jointly with the boys from SMC. The sixth (final) year of the school is co-educational.

Civil Service Strollers Football Club are a senior non-league football team from Edinburgh, Scotland currently playing in the Lowland League. The Strollers play their home games at Christie Gillies Park. Their home strip colours are red, with white shorts and red socks. The team is currently managed by Gary Jardine.

Davidson's Mains is a former village and now a district in the north-west of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is adjacent to the districts of Barnton, Cramond, Silverknowes, Blackhall and Corbiehill/House O'Hill. It was absorbed into Edinburgh as part of the boundary changes in 1920 and is part of the EH4 postcode area. Locals sometimes abbreviate the name to D'Mains or even simply Dmains.

The Granton Shrimp Bed is a fossil-bearing deposit exposed on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth near Edinburgh, in Scotland. It is classified as a Konservat-Lagerstätten because of the exceptional quality of preservation of the fossils and is dominated by crustaceans; the deposit dates back to the Lower Carboniferous, some 359 to 323 million years ago.

Ravelston is an affluent area of Edinburgh, Scotland, to the west of the city centre, the east of Corstorphine and Clermiston, the north of Murrayfield, West End and Roseburn and to the south of Queensferry Road (the A90). Ravelston is often considered to be part of the larger neighbouring area of Murrayfield. The area is primarily made up of fairly large detached and semi-detached family homes, as well as modern apartments and many bungalows. To the east of Ravelston Terrace is the Dean Path and Water of Leith Walkway, while to the west lies Ravelston Dykes Golf Club, sandwiched between Ravelston and Corstorphine Hill. Ravelston is home to the Mary Erskine School, an independent school incorporated into Stewart's Melville College which is on the far east side of Ravelston, both owned by the Merchant Company of Edinburgh. The former Faith Mission Bible College was in a Victorian house in Ravelston from 1886 to 1986, before moving to Gilmerton. Ravelston Garden is a 1930s listed building in the area. There are also other notable buildings including the slightly older Ravelston Lea, a large detached villa typical of the better housing in the area.
