The Granton Shrimp Bed is a fossil-bearing deposit exposed on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth near Edinburgh, in Scotland. It is classified as a Konservat-Lagerstätten because of the exceptional quality of preservation of the fossils and is dominated by crustaceans; the deposit dates back to the Lower Carboniferous, some 359 to 323 million years ago.

Martello Court is a residential building and one of the tallest buildings in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is 64 metres (210 ft) high, with 23 floors. It is on Pennywell Gardens in Muirhouse, in the north-west of the city. It was known as the Terror Tower in the 1970s and 1980s because of the crime around it.

The murder of Sheila Anderson (1955/1956 – 7 February 1983) was the 1983 murder of a sex worker in Edinburgh which has been described as "one of Scotland's most notorious unsolved murders". 27-year-old mother Anderson was found run over, possibly repeatedly, on the promenade at Gypsy Brae after she had sex with a client there. Anderson was known to have been confrontational with clients and for having stood in front of their cars if they refused to pay, leading investigators to conclude that she may have been run over after such a disagreement. Forensics showed that the killer's car was painted red and also would have been heavily damaged by the act, with police still appealing for anyone who remembers their partner suspiciously coming home with a damaged car around 1983 to come forward. Appeals have also been made for information from anyone who was given a sexually transmitted disease by their partner around this time, since it was found that there was a 50% chance the killer would have had to seek treatment for one after the murder. Anderson's missing bag was found dumped after the killing at a car park by the A1 road going south from Edinburgh into England, suggesting that her killer may have travelled back to England after the murder. A full DNA profile of the killer was isolated in 2009, leading to renewed hopes that the killer could be caught and new appeals on Crimewatch. The case has also been noted for the long-term impact it had nationally in terms of changing police attitudes and procedures in regards to sex workers, and the case continues to receive publicity.

Edinburgh College (Scottish Gaelic: Colaiste Dhùn Èideann) is a further and higher education institution with campuses in Edinburgh and Midlothian, Scotland. It serves the Edinburgh Region, Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian, and is the largest college in Scotland. It was formed on 1 October 2012 as part of the merger of Edinburgh's Jewel and Esk, Telford, and Stevenson colleges. The college has four campuses, all of which were previously the campuses of the constituents of the merger: Jewel and Esk's College Milton Road (Jewel) Campus and Eskbank Campus (Now referred to as "Edinburgh College, Milton Road Campus" and "Edinburgh College, Midlothian Campus"); Edinburgh Telford College (Now referred to as Edinburgh College, Granton Campus); and Stevenson College Edinburgh (Now referred to as Edinburgh College, Sighthill Campus)

Silverknowes is a district of Edinburgh, Scotland. Silverknowes lies to the northwest of the city. The district contains over 2000 homes, ranging in size from bungalow to semi-detached housing, much of it built during the mid-twentieth century. It holds the EH4 postcode. Silverknowes is surrounded by Davidson's Mains (former village) to the south, Barnton, Lauriston to the west, and Muirhouse to the east.

Granton Gasworks railway station was a private railway station built to serve the Granton Gasworks in Granton, Edinburgh, Scotland that operated from 1902 to 1942. After laying vacant for decades, the station was brought back into use in 2023 as Granton Station Creative Works, a creative enterprise hub operated by the arts charity Wasps.

Drylaw is an area in the north west of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, located between Blackhall and Granton. It forms the community of Drylaw–Telford. Drylaw used to belong to the younger branch of the Foresters of Corstorphine. Formerly the estate of Drylaw House, built in 1718, the home of the Loch family, the area became the site of a major housing scheme in the 1950s designed to rehouse the occupants of Leith. It is on the A902 road. Its name comes from the Scots language and means "hill without a spring".

Blackhall is a suburb in the north west of the Scottish capital city Edinburgh. It is a mainly residential area with amenities including a library and a small number of shops.

Caroline Park is a 17th-century mansion in the Granton area of Edinburgh. It was constructed between 1683 and 1696 for Sir George Mackenzie, 1st Viscount Tarbat, and his wife Anna. It is protected as a category A listed building for its "sophisticated French-influenced principal (south) elevation and some very fine intact internal features".
