Stretch Island

Stretch Point State Park is a public recreation area occupying eight acres (3.2 ha) of land on the northern tip of Stretch Island in Mason County, Washington. The state park is only accessible by boat and is administered as a satellite of Jarrell Cove State Park.

It was part of the former Allyn-Grapeview CDP that was broken up into Allyn and Grapeview in 2010. Grapeview is connected to State Route 3 via Grapeview Loop Road. Reach Island, or Treasure Island, is an island in Case Inlet in the southern part of Puget Sound in the state of Washington, United States. The island's original name was Oak Island, but was later renamed it Reach Island due to its southern neighbor Stretch Island. It forms part of the unincorporated Mason County community of Allyn-Grapeview. The island has a land area of 0.36755 km2 (90.82 acres) and a population of 119 persons, as of the 2010 census.

Allyn-Grapeview is a former census-designated place (CDP) in Mason County, Washington, United States. At the 2010 census, the CDP was separated into Allyn and Grapeview. The combined 2010 population of the two new CDPs was 2,917. The community-based monthly newspaper called the North Bay Review, services the Allyn-Grapeview area. Allyn's main road and thoroughfare is State Route 3 with Grapeview connected to Route 3 via Grapeview Loop Road. Grapeview is home to a small Puget Sound Maritime Museum, and the Fair Harbor Marina.

Herron Island is an island in central Case Inlet in the southern part of Puget Sound in the U.S. state of Washington. The Pierce County island has a land area of 1.2326 km² (304.57 acres) and a population of 151 persons as of the 2010 census. Herron Island is one of the few privately owned islands in Puget Sound. All access to the island is by boat, mostly aboard the HMC ferry, the "Charlie Wells", and a guest pass signed by an HMC member is necessary to board the ferry. The island is 1.25 miles (2.01 km) long, and 1/2 mile (800 m) across. Corporate properties include the North Beach Park and small boat docks, the South Beach (undeveloped), roads and rights of way, Goodpastor Park and adjacent wetlands, Community Building and Fire Station, water system, ferry and ferry docks, as well as numerous greenbelt lots throughout the island. All other land is privately owned. Ownership of waterfront lots includes the tidelands down to the mean sea level.

The Key Peninsula lies along Puget Sound to the south of Kitsap Peninsula in the U.S. state of Washington. It is part of Pierce County and is bordered to the west by Case Inlet and to the east by Carr Inlet. The peninsula is approximately 16 miles (26 km) long and has two Washington State Parks.

Case Inlet, in southern Puget Sound in the U.S. state of Washington, is an arm of water between Key Peninsula to the east and Harstine Island to the west. Its northern end, called North Bay, reaches nearly to Hood Canal, creating the defining isthmus of Kitsap Peninsula. Case Inlet is the boundary between Pierce County and Mason County. The southern end of Case Inlet connects to Nisqually Reach, part of the southern basin of Puget Sound. Herron Island lies in Case Inlet. Case Inlet was named by Charles Wilkes of the Wilkes Expedition of 1838–1842, to honor Augustus L. Case, one of the expedition's officers. From the 1870s to the 1920s, transportation needs of the communities along Case Inlet were served by a small flotilla of steamboats.

Vaughn is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Pierce County, Washington, United States. Vaughn is located on Vaughn Bay in the northwestern Key Peninsula. Vaughn has a post office with ZIP code 98394.Vaughn was named for W.D. Vaughn, who settled in the area around 1851.Vaughn was once an important port for the Key Peninsula. Jarrell Cove State Park is a Washington state park on Harstine Island in south Puget Sound. It consists of 67 acres (27 ha) of forest with 3,500 feet (1,100 m) of saltwater shoreline. Park activities include camping, hiking, biking, boating, scuba diving, fishing, swimming, waterskiing, clamming, crabbing, field sports, beachcombing, windsurfing, birdwatching, wildlife viewing, and horseshoes.Jarrell Cove State Park administers five satellite state parks: Eagle Island, Harstine Island (a day-use park 2 miles (3.2 km) from Jarrell Cove with beach access via a 0.5-mile (0.80 km) trail), Hope Island, McMicken Island, and Stretch Point.The park was established in 1953 and gradually expanded in the 1960s. It was initially known as Gerald Cove State Park, but the spelling was corrected in 1966 upon the request of the Hartstene Island Grange.

Home is a census-designated place in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The 2010 Census placed the population at 1,377. The community lies on the Key Peninsula and borders the waters of Carr Inlet, an extension of Puget Sound. Home is now primarily a town of beach homes, although around the turn of the twentieth century, it was considered a model, utopian community of anarchists.

Home Colony was an anarchist colony on Puget Sound in Washington State from 1898 to 1909. Its founders were members of a former Bellamyite colony who bought 26 acres and formally organized as the Mutual Home Association in January 1898. Colonists purchased one or two acres and the proceeds purchased new land for the colony. Its colonists lived as individuals rather than cooperatively and tolerated a wide degree of social practices, including free love, free speech. They organized few cooperative institutions aside from a cooperative store (1902), some mutual construction projects, and a weekly anarchist paper, Discontent: Mother of Progress. When the newspaper was fined for obscenity, they replaced it with The Demonstrator. The original 40 colonists grew to 91 by 1900 and 155 by 1906. The colony's numerous visiting speakers included Emma Goldman. Following 1909 changes to the association's articles of incorporation allowed land to transfer from their mutual trust to private ownership, Home declined as a cooperative community but remained a home for anarchists.
