King William Historic District

The Carl Wilhelm August Groos House is located in the Bexar County city of San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas. It was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1977. Designed by Alfred Giles in 1880, the building contractor was John H. Kampmann. Giles used a Victorian Gothic Revival on this limestone home. Groos had immigrated from Germany to Texas in 1848, at which time he and his brothers started a freighting firm. In 1871, he built the Carl W. A. Groos House in New Braunfels. In 1872, he and his family settled in San Antonio. Groos married Hulda Amalie Moureau and became a founding member of the Groos National Bank. In 1880, Groos hired Giles to build his San Antonio home. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Bexar County, Texas as a contributing structure of the King William Historic District . Groos died in 1893. In 1957, the house was purchased by the San Antonio Council of the Girl Scouts of the USA. The Girl Scouts sold the home to Charles Butt. It has been restored and is in private ownership.

The Norton–Polk–Mathis House, also known Villa Finale, is a historic house in San Antonio, Texas, United States. Local merchant Russel C. Norton began construction on the house in 1876. The house was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1971.It is a contributing property to the King William Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is also a National Trust Historic Site, the only one in Texas.The house was remodeled with additions of a second story, rear gallery, and Italian Renaissance Revival Tower. Other owners included rancher Edwin Polk and cattleman Ike T. Pryor. The house was then turned into a boarding house until 1967, when it was purchased by local civic leader Walter Nold Mathis. Mathis spent two years restoring the house and named it Villa Finale as he planned on it being his last home. He then purchased fourteen other homes in the King William neighborhood, restored them and sold them to others whom he hoped would continue to preserve them. The home was donated to the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2004 which operates it as a museum.

The Edward Steves Homestead is located in the Bexar County city of San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas. It was designed by architect Alfred Giles and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. The main house was donated to the San Antonio Conservation Society in 1952. The organization completely restored the main house as a museum and now conducts daily tours. The complete homestead property consists of four individual structures: the main house museum, the carriage house, the river house, and the servants' quarters. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Bexar County, Texas, as a contributing structure of the King William Historic District.

The San Antonio Downtown and River Walk Historic District is an amalgamation of residential and commercial sites. 197 contributing properties and 50 non-contributing properties were taken into consideration when evaluating the area for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and also for the Recorded Texas Historic Landmarks (RTHL). The more than a century of economic growth and business/tourist development beginning in the mid-19th century is reflected in the city's architecture.The commercial buildings showcase a wide variety of architectural styles and movements. Among the prominent architects who were involved in designing this area of San Antonio were Atlee Ayres, Alfred Giles, James Riely Gordon, Robert H.H. Hugman, Herbert M. Greene, Adams & Adams (Carleton W. Adams and his uncle Carl C. Adams) and Millard Sheets.Listed below are 37 properties denoted as significant to the designation of the National Register of Historic Places listings in Bexar County, Texas. Four of the properties are also included on La Villita historic district. The 214-acre geographical boundaries covered by this NRHP designation are the San Antonio River Walk and surrounding blocks, bounded by Cameron, Augusta, Sixth, Bonham, losoya and Tolle Place.

Alamo Methodist Church is a historic Methodist church building at 1150 S. Alamo Street in San Antonio, Texas. It was built in 1912 in a Mission/Spanish Revival style. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Guenther House is a restaurant, museum and store located at 205 E. Guenther Street in the King William neighborhood of the Bexar County city of San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas. Currently operated by C. H. Guenther and Son. Inc., the home was originally built as a private residence in 1859 by Pioneer Flour Mills founder Carl Hilmar Guenther. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Bexar County, Texas on October 11, 1990.

The Anton Wulff House is located in the Bexar County city of San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas. It was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1976. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Bexar County, Texas as a contributing structure of the King William Historic District . The house has been the headquarters of the San Antonio Conservation Society since 1975. German immigrant businessman Wulff was a city alderman, San Antonio's first park commissioner, and the man who designed the layout and beautification of Alamo Plaza.

The Conservation Society of San Antonio (legally incorporated as the San Antonio Conservation Society) is located in the Bexar County city of San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas. Founding members were Emily Edwards, who became the organization's first president, and Rena Maverick Green. The organization was formed on March 22, 1924, and officially incorporated on July 8, 1925. The Society is currently headquartered in the Anton Wulff House, which they saved from destruction in 1974. The home was built 1869–1870 by German immigrant Anton Wulff, who became the city's first Park Commissioner.

It is a translator of Blanco-licensed UniMás owned-and-operated station KNIC-DT (channel 17) which is owned by TelevisaUnivision; it is also sister to San Antonio–licensed Univision station KWEX-DT (channel 41). KCOR-CD's transmitter is located on César E. Chavéz Bouelvard in downtown San Antonio; its parent station shares studios with KWEX-DT on Network Boulevard on the city's northwest side.

San Antonio Independent School District is a school district based in San Antonio, Texas, United States.San Antonio ISD ranks is the 13th largest of Texas' 1,057 school districts. The District encompasses 79 square miles with a total population of 306,943 (2010 U.S. Census). San Antonio ISD serves the Downtown, Midtown, and inner city areas of the city of San Antonio and a small portion of the city of Balcones Heights. With over 48,720 students (as of 2018), the district is the third largest school district in the Bexar County area.

Downtown San Antonio is the central business district of San Antonio, Texas, United States. It also serves as the urban core of Greater San Antonio, a metropolitan area with nearly 2.5 million people. In addition to being encircled by Loops 1604 and 410, Downtown San Antonio is encircled by three Interstate freeways: I-35, I-37, and I-10. Together, the three highways create a rectangular route around the city's urban core: I-35 to the north and west, I-37 to the east, and I-10 to the south. The rectangular loop has a nine-mile circumference and is known as the "Downtown Loop" or "Central Loop", which encompasses both it and Southtown.
