Center Island (Washington)

Center Island Airport (IATA: CWS, FAA LID: 78WA) is a private use airport located on Center Island, in San Juan County, Washington, United States. The airport is owned by the Center Island Association. It was included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.Center Island Airport is a "turf-gravel" runway approximately 1600 feet long by 100 feet wide.

Fortress Island is one of the San Juan Islands in San Juan County, Washington, USA. Located in Lopez Sound, the uninhabited, rocky island has a land area of 3.21 acres (1.30 hectares) and is almost completely devoid of vegetation. It is part of the Turtleback complex, a series of intrusive rocks in Lopez Sound formed out of crystallized molten magma that also includes Bird Rock, Low Island, and others.Fortress Island is part of the San Juan Islands National Wildlife Refuge and is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. As with almost all of the islands in the refuge, human access is prohibited and boats may not approach to within 200 yards (180 m).

Decatur Island is one of the San Juan Islands in Washington state, USA, located just east of Lopez Island across Lopez Sound and just south of Blakely Island across Thatcher Pass. Named by the Wilkes Expedition in 1841 for naval officer Stephen Decatur, it is 3.524 square miles (9.127 km²) in area.

Frost Island is an island in the San Juan Islands of the U.S. state of Washington. The approximately 70-acre (28 ha) island has no public electric service or land-line telephone service. There is a water-taxi that runs between the island and Anacortes.The name was given by Charles Wilkes during the Wilkes Expedition of 1838–1842, in honor of John Frost, the boatswain of the expedition's Porpoise.

Spencer Spit State Park is a public recreation area ran under the Washington State Parks. It covers one hundred and thirty-eight acres (56 ha) (a total of 7,840 feet of shoreline) on the eastern shore of Lopez Island in San Juan County, Washington. It overlooks the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The state park features two sand spits that enclose a salt chuck lagoon that provides a migratory stop for waterfowl, including Bonaparte's gulls. Other local fauna include great blue herons and kingfishers.

The Port Stanley School is located on Lopez Island, in the San Juan Islands (San Juan County), Washington, in the United States. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1994. The building was restored in 2003 and currently serves as an exhibit of the Lopez Island Historical Society and community space.

Flower Island is one of the San Juan Islands in San Juan County, Washington, USA. The uninhabited, rocky island has a land area of 4.6 acres (1.9 hectares) and is almost completely devoid of vegetation. Located off the coast from Spencer Spit State Park, it is a popular nesting location for gulls. Flower Island was occupied for two summers in the 1930s by Floyd and Ruth Schmoe and their children while Floyd Schmoe was studying at the Friday Harbor Laboratories. Because the island was not, at the time, listed on tax rolls, the Schmoes were able to claim squatters' rights.Currently, Flower Island is part of the San Juan Islands National Wildlife Refuge and is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. As with almost all of the islands in the refuge, human access is prohibited and boats may not approach to within 200 yards (180 m).

James Island is one of the San Juan Islands in San Juan County, Washington, United States. It lies in Rosario Strait just off the eastern shore of Decatur Island and west of the city of Anacortes. The entire island comprises James Island State Park of the Washington State Park System. It has a land area of 113 acres (46 ha) with 12,335 feet (3,760 m) of saltwater shoreline. The island has no potable water or residents. It has three different camping areas, each with at least one toilet. The camping areas combine for a total of 13 campsites and are connected by a loop trail. James Island was named by Charles Wilkes in 1841 to commemorate the naval hero Reuben James. The property was transferred from the federal government to the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission in 1964.

Lopez Island is the third largest of the San Juan Islands and an unincorporated town in San Juan County, Washington, United States. Lopez Island is 29.81 square miles (77.2 km2) in land area. The 2020 census population was 3,156, though the population swells in the summer, as second homes, rental houses, and campsites fill up.

Blakely Island (SENĆOŦEN: XEMXEMIȽĆ) in San Juan County, Washington is the sixth largest island in the San Juan Islands of Washington State, United States, encompassing a land area of 16.852 km2 (6.507 sq m). It is separated from Cypress Island to the east by Rosario Strait. The population was 56 persons as of the 2000 census. There is no immediate public access to Blakely Island and it can only be reached by private ferry or boat.
