Arzila (Coimbra)

Ameal is a former civil parish in the municipality of Coimbra, Portugal. The population in 2011 was 1,682, in an area of 11.25 km2. On 28 January 2013 it merged with Taveiro and Arzila to form Taveiro, Ameal e Arzila.

Estádio Municipal Sérgio Conceição (Sérgio Conceição Municipal Stadium) is a football stadium in Taveiro, in the city of Coimbra, Portugal. Built in 2002, it has 2500 seats and was named after Sérgio Conceição, a football player born in Coimbra. The stadium belongs to the municipality of Coimbra and is the home ground for the football teams of two local sports clubs: Clube de Futebol União de Coimbra and União Desportiva Taveirense. Académica de Coimbra's home ground, the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra, was rebuilt, expanded, and modernized to host some UEFA Euro 2004 matches, and because of it, during most of the 2002/2003 season Académica de Coimbra played their home games at this stadium.

Taveiro, Ameal e Arzila (officially União das Freguesias de Taveiro, Ameal e Arzila) is a civil parish in the municipality of Coimbra, Portugal. The population in 2021 was 3,997, in an area of 24.34 km2. It was formed on 28 January 2013 by the merging of freguesias Taveiro, Ameal, and Arzila. It's one of the few freguesias with an exclave (which is in the territory of São Martinho do Bispo e Ribeira de Frades).

Ribeira de Frades is a former civil parish in the municipality of Coimbra, Portugal. The population in 2011 was 1,902, in an area of 310 km2. On 28 January 2013 it merged with São Martinho do Bispo to form São Martinho do Bispo e Ribeira de Frades. It was one of the only freguesias with enclaves and exclaves. After the merging its enclave was maintained.

The population in 2021 was 15,322, in an area of 24.68 km2. It was the result of two freguesias joining on 28 January 2013; São Martinho do Bispo and Ribeira de Frades.

Ançã is a Portuguese village and parish in the municipality of Cantanhede, with an area of 18.1 km² and 2,625 inhabitants (2011). It has a population density of 145 inhabitants / km². It integrates in the district of Coimbra, being located approximately 10 km from the district capital. Historically and culturally, Vila de Ançã is linked to Baixo Mondego and not to Gândara or Bairrada, ethnographic regions that comprise the municipality of Cantanhede. Only Ançã wine can be considered, due to its characteristics, as part of the Bairrada wine region. The noble and preserved historic center of Ançã is an architectural complex of unquestionable value - in the style of the Marquis of Cascais, lord of Vila de Ançã. A dynamic space of increasing attractiveness, in which restaurants and nightlife stand out. In addition to the Bolo de Ançã, other gastronomic offerings are added. The Leitão à Bairrada, the Chanfana and its wine products are very popular. Jaime Cortesão's birthplace, which he still honors today with the name of one of its main streets and a monument with his bust. It is also the birthplace of the writer Augusto Abelaira. The Fonte de Ançã or Fonte dos Castros is known for being a rare spectacle, with a flow rate exceeding 20,000 liters per minute, origin of stories and legends. The spring water feeds the Natural Pool of Ançã, whose water is constantly flowing. Even more famous is the Pedra de Ançã, present in important monuments, such as the Monastery of Batalha, which attracted great sculptors to Coimbra. Outside the village, Ançã is also composed of the localities of Granja, Ameixoeira and Gândara.
