São Martinho do Bispo

São Martinho do Bispo e Ribeira de Frades (officially União das Freguesias de São Martinho do Bispo e Ribeira de Frades) is a civil parish in the municipality of Coimbra, Portugal. The population in 2021 was 15,322, in an area of 24.68 km2. It was the result of two freguesias joining on 28 January 2013; São Martinho do Bispo and Ribeira de Frades.

The Escola Superior Agrária de Coimbra (ESAC), in English the Agrarian School of Coimbra, is a state-run polytechnic higher education school of agriculture, based in Coimbra, Portugal. The oldest of the Coimbra Polytechnical Institute's (IPC) autonomous institutions, it has also IPC's largest campus.

Choupal National Forest (Portuguese: Mata Nacional do Choupal) is a national forest in Coimbra, Portugal. It is a short distance from the city downtown and runs alongside the Mondego River. The forest has trails for jogging, walking, cycling and horse-riding.This grove of poplar trees (choupos, whence choupal "poplar grove"), was planted in an attempt to stop the floods of the Mondego river. In 1791, the engineer and Padre (Father, priest) Estêvão Cabral directed a big project that was meant to decrease the levels of silt in the river. The trees of Choupal were therefore planted to allow a better settling of the riverbed. Since the 19th century many other trees, including planes (sycamores; Platanus orientalis), beeches, laurels, and eucalyptus have grown in the area. Today the forest is a popular place for recreation, exercise and picnics.

The Centro de Estágios da Académica (formerly known as Academia Dolce Vita for sponsoring reasons) is the training facility and youth academy of Associação Académica de Coimbra - O.A.F. football club.The facility includes one grass field and two synthetic turf training fields, as well as a support building featuring staff's offices, bedrooms, medical care, jacuzzi, fitness and massage centers. The Centro de Estágios da Académica was founded in 2007 and is located in Campos do Bolão, Coimbra. It was built by engineering company A. Baptista de Almeida.

Ribeira de Frades is a former civil parish in the municipality of Coimbra, Portugal. The population in 2011 was 1,902, in an area of 310 km2. On 28 January 2013 it merged with São Martinho do Bispo to form São Martinho do Bispo e Ribeira de Frades. It was one of the only freguesias with enclaves and exclaves. After the merging its enclave was maintained.

Santa Cruz is a former civil parish in the municipality of Coimbra, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Coimbra (Sé Nova, Santa Cruz, Almedina e São Bartolomeu). In 2001, its population was 6866 inhabitants, in an area of 5.56 km² that parallels the north (right) margin of the Mondego River, extending to the village of Adémia in Trouxemil (its density is approximately 1235 inhabitants per km²).

Santa Clara e Castelo Viegas is a civil parish in the municipality of Coimbra, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Santa Clara and Castelo Viegas. The population in 2011 was 11,624, in an area of 17.63 km².

The Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova (Portuguese: Mosteiro de Santa Clara-a-Nova) is a monastery in Coimbra, Portugal. It was built to replace the mediaeval Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Velha, located nearby, which at the time was prone to frequent flooding by the waters of the Mondego river. The monastery was built in the 17th and 18th centuries and is classified as a National Monument. It is located in the Santa Clara parish.

The Coimbra University Stadium (Portuguese: Estádio Universitário de Coimbra), or EUC, is an extensive sports complex of the University of Coimbra on Mondego's left bank, in Santa Clara parish, in the city of Coimbra, Portugal. The stadium was opened in 1963.It has 2 football (soccer) fields, one of them with an athletics track, a rugby union field, gymnasiums, tennis courts, a Radio-Controlled car track, and two multisports pavilions for play indoor sports such as basketball, handball, rink hockey, and volleyball. The Faculdade de Ciências do Desporto e Educação Física da Universidade de Coimbra, the sports sciences faculty of the University of Coimbra, is located there, and includes library and restaurant for the student community.

São Bartolomeu is a former civil parish in the municipality of Coimbra, Portugal. The population in 2011 was 627 in an area of 0.17 km2, meaning it's the least populated bairro in Coimbra. On 28 January 2013 it merged with Sé Nova, Santa Cruz, and Almedina to form Coimbra (Sé Nova, Santa Cruz, Almedina e São Bartolomeu). It's home to the Igreja de Santiago and Ponte de Santa Clara.

The Portugal dos Pequenitos (translated as Portugal of/for the Little Ones) is a miniature park in the civil parish of Santa Clara e Castelo Viegas, in the municipality of Coimbra, in the Portuguese district of Coimbra. The park consists of diminutive versions of Portuguese houses and monuments, and has pavilions dedicated to the former Portuguese colonies.

The Palácio da Justiça is a historic building located in central Coimbra, Portugal, presently housing the city's Law Courts. It was formerly a religious house of the Dominican Order under the name College of St. Thomas (Portuguese: Colégio de São Tomás) and, whilst the private residence of the Counts of Ameal, was known as Palácio Ameal. Both of its former designations are still current in colloquial use.
