Saitama (city)

Urawa (浦和区, Urawa-ku) is one of ten wards of the city of Saitama, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and is located in the northeastern part of the city. Urawa-ku is the governmental center of Saitama City and houses most of the city's administrative offices including the city hall, as well as the offices of Saitama Prefectural government. Also, there are several newspaper branch offices and three broadcasting stations.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Saitama (Latin: Saitamaen(sis), Japanese: カトリックさいたま教区) is a diocese located in the city of Saitama in the Ecclesiastical province of Tokyo in Japan.

The Cathedral of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus (Japanese: 幼いイエスの聖テレジア司教座聖堂), also called the Urawa Church, is a parish of the Roman Catholic Church in Urawa, Saitama prefecture, Japan. It is seat of the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saitama. (Dioecesis Saitamaensis; カトリックさいたま教区) Founded in 1940, it is dedicated to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, a French Discalced Carmelite canonized in 1925 and proclaimed a Doctor of the Church in 1997 by Pope John Paul II. It was elevated to cathedral status in 1957 upon the erection of the Diocese of Saitama, by the papal bull "Qui superna Dei" of Pope Pius XII.

Urawa (浦和市, Urawa-shi) was a city located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. On May 1, 2001, Urawa was merged with the cities of Ōmiya and Yono to create the city of Saitama. Since April 1, 2003, the area of former Urawa City has been divided into 4 wards: Urawa-ku, Midori-ku, Minami-ku and Sakura-ku of Saitama City. The city hall and the prefectural government building are located in Urawa-ku.

Urawa-shuku (浦和宿, Urawa-shuku) was the third of the sixty-nine stations of the Nakasendō. It is located in Urawa-ku in the present-day city of Saitama, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Its stone ruins can be found 300 meters from Tsuki Shrine (調神社 Tsuki Jinja). Presently, there is a flea market that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every month in Urawa-shuku's Tsuki Shrine.

As of 1 March 2021, the ward had an estimated population of 192,143 and a population density of 14,000 persons per km². Its total area was 13.82 square kilometres (5.34 sq mi).
