Saint-Laurent (electoral district)

Saint-Laurent is a provincial electoral district in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It comprises part of the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough and part of the Saint-Laurent borough of Montreal. It was created for the 1966 election from parts of Jacques-Cartier and Laval electoral districts. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged.

Saint-Laurent (French pronunciation: ​[sɛ̃ lɔʁɑ̃]) is a borough of the city of Montreal, Canada, located in the northern part of the island. Although it is no longer an independent city, it is still commonly known as Ville Saint-Laurent (City of Saint-Laurent) or by its initials, VSL. Saint-Laurent is the largest of Montreal's boroughs by land area. Its population was 98,828 inhabitants in 2016.

Place Vertu is a shopping mall in the borough of Saint-Laurent in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located on Côte-Vertu Boulevard, at the corner of Cavendish Boulevard. The mall is about 830,000 square feet (77,109.5 m2) in size, and has a high-rise building.

Bois-Franc is a residential neighbourhood in the borough of Saint-Laurent in Montreal that was designed by the architect Louis Sauer.

Cartierville Airport (formerly IATA: YCV, ICAO: CYCV) was an airport in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, now a borough of Montreal. The airport (Bois-Franc Field when it opened in 1911 and during World War I) was decommissioned in 1988 and turned into the Bois-Franc neighbourhood. It was located next to Route 117 (now Boul. Marcel Laurin, formerly Laurentian Blvd.) and the terminal buildings were accessed via Boul. Henri-Bourassa (formerly Rue Bois Franc), near the present Bois-Franc Train Station on the Deux Montagnes Commuter Rail Line.As the 10/28 runway's threshold was very close to Bois-Franc Boulevard (now Boul. Henri-Bourassa West), a traffic light was installed and automobile traffic was stopped by Air Traffic Control whenever a plane was about to take off from runway 28 or land on runway 10. In 1928 Reid Aircraft Company (and shortly by Curtiss Aeroplane & Motor Company as Curtiss-Reid) opened a plant to make Curtiss-Reid Rambler, then in 1935 Noorduyn opened an aircraft plant followed by Canadian Vickers in 1942. At one time, Canadair Plant One used the airfield to fly off completed CL-215, CL-415, Challenger bizjets and Canadair Regional Jets. The airport was closed to private and commercial passenger traffic in the 1980s when it became apparent that traffic from the nearby Dorval Airport was making it hazardous for chartered flights and flight schools to operate on the site. This left Bombardier as the sole user. Prior to Bombardier's acquisition of Canadair, Canadair had already acquired title to the airport, and had initiated a subdivision development planning.Among the aircraft test-flown there was the Canadair CL-84 Dynavert tilt-wing VTOL airplane.

Bois-Franc is a future Réseau express métropolitain (REM) interchange station in the Bois-Franc neighbourhood of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. REM service is expected to begin at the station in the fourth quarter of 2024.It was formerly commuter rail station on the Deux-Montagnes line until Exo ended service in 2020.

Congregation Beth Ora (Hebrew: קהלת בית אורה, lit. 'House of Light') is an Modern Orthodox synagogue serving the Ashkenazi Jewish community in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Canada.Founded in 1953 by William Weiss as "The Jewish Congregation of Saint Laurent", the synagogue adopted its constitution in 1956, and construction was finalized in 1957. The name was later changed to Beth Ora in 1959. The synagogue is a member of the Orthodox Union.

Terminus Côte-Vertu is an Exo bus terminus partly north and partly south of the Côte-Vertu Metro station. It is located in the borough of Saint-Laurent in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.Before this new terminus was built, all bus stops were located on the streets near the Metro station entrances. This created a lot of traffic jams on Côte-Vertu and Decarie boulevards. The buses heading to the West Island were inconveniently located at the Edouard-Laurin street entrance. The southern portion of the terminus occupies part of what was once the Edouard-Laurin Streetcar Terminus.

Cartierville is a former district in north end Montreal, Quebec, Canada, located in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville. Cartierville is bordered to the north by the Rivière des Prairies, to the south by the borough of Saint-Laurent, to the east across Autoroute 15 by Ahuntsic, and to the west by Bois-de-Saraguay Nature Park.

Côte-Vertu station is a Montreal Metro station in the borough of Saint-Laurent in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and serves the Orange Line. It opened on November 3, 1986 and has been the western terminus of the Orange Line since that date, having taken over from Du Collège station.

The Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal is a hospital in the Cartierville neighbourhood of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, bordering on Saint-Laurent. It is one of the largest teaching hospitals affiliated with the Université de Montréal, and one of the largest hospitals in Quebec. It is one of only three hospitals in the province with a Level 1 Trauma Center.

Decarie Hot Dog (French: Décarie Hot Dogs; founded 1969) is a diner counter restaurant and landmark located in Saint-Laurent, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on Decarie Boulevard, near its intersection with Côte-Vertu Boulevard (and Metro station and transit terminus). It specializes in hot dogs and french fries. It is famed for its fries, poutine and Montreal-style steamies and it is reputed to have one of the best poutines in Montreal, as well as in Canada. In addition it is reputed for having some of the best hot dogs in Montreal. As such, it has appeared in some guides about Montreal.Being a local landmark, several local celebrities have eaten at the restaurant, these include Rene Angelil, mayors of Montreal and mayors of Saint-Laurent, former leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Stephane Dion, pro-athletes of the local teams.With the development of the new public square, Place Rodolphe-Rousseau (named after artist Rudolphe Rousseau), associated with the metro station, across the street from the Decarie Hot Dog building, a full wall mural as painted onto the building. The artwork was painted by Dodo Ose of AShop Studio. The painting, L'Envol, a collaboration between the artist, Ville Saint-Laurent, the owners of Decarie Hot Dog, the Vriniotis family, was made to represent the owners' Greek heritage with the mythological topic of Pegasi. The Vriniotis family established the eatery, and as of its 50th anniversary, in 2019, still operates it. It retained the same menu for its first 50 years except for the addition of poutine in 1984. Also for its 50th anniversary, limited renovations were done to the restaurant, which itself is housed in a building that at the time was a century old.
