Red Hills Lake County AVA is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) located in Lake County, California and was established by Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Treasury on September 10, 2004. The wine region lies along the southwestern shores of Clear Lake, separating Excelsior Valley to the east from Big Valley to the west. The hills lie at the foot of Mount Konocti, a volcano which last erupted 11,000 years ago, but which is still regarded as active. The terrain is rolling hills with elevations between 1,400 feet (430 m) and 3,000 feet (910 m) above sea level. Red Hills receives an average of 25 to 40 inches (635–1,016 mm) of rainfall annually.

Thurston Lake is a lake adjacent to the southeast side of the much larger Clear Lake. in Northern California. In the past, volcanic deposits formed a ridge separating Thurston Lake from Clear Lake. The lake is notably turbid, the result of clayey runoff from nearby Manning Flat.

The Boggs Lake Ecological Reserve is a nature reserve in Lake County, California. The land area is about one quarter of a square mile and contains a large vernal pool as well as endangered plants such as the Boggs Lake hedge-hyssop. Boggs Lake is managed by the Nature Conservancy and the California Department of Fish and Game. It is 8 miles (13 km) south of Clear Lake and has a small parking area and hiking trail loop. The protective fence and interpretive display boards were installed by the Nature Conservancy. The lake lies in a volcanic depression lined with a very fine covering of volcanic ash a few feet deep that has compacted to become impervious to water. The lake surface covers about 90 acres (360,000 m2) when it is full.Originally a plant preserve of 101 acres (0.41 km2) that resulted from the California Native Plant Society's (CNPS) efforts to save the land from development in 1973, it is today a protected area of sensitive habitat for several endangered plants and animals.

The Ely Stage Stop & Country Museum, or simply Ely Stage Stop, is an open-air museum in Kelseyville, California. It was founded in 2011 by the Lake County Historical Society and the County of Lake government.

Clearlake Riviera (formerly Clear Lake Riviera) is a census-designated place in Lake County, California. It lies at an elevation of 1755 feet (535 m). The population was 3,090 at the 2010 census.

Koi was the more southerly of the two main Pomo villages in the southeastern section of Clear Lake in Lake County, California, United States. Both it and the other triblet center, Elem, were located on islands near the shore and controlled territory on the mainland. It was located on Lower Lake Island, also called Indian Island.

Anderson Marsh State Historic Park is a California State Historic Park and nature reserve preserving a tule marsh, archaeological sites of the Pomo people, and historic ranch structures. It is located in Lake County, California, United States. Anderson Marsh is located at the head of Cache Creek on the southeast corner of Clear Lake, the largest natural lake completely within the borders of California. The park is between the cities of Lower Lake and Clearlake on State Route 53, north of Calistoga in the wine country. The park is open year-round.

Clearlake Highlands is a former unincorporated community now incorporated in Clearlake, in Lake County, California. It is located on the north shore of the southeast end of Clear Lake, just south of the village of Clearlake Park, 15 miles (24 km) east-southeast of Lakeport, at an elevation of 1348 feet (411 m).Clearlake was originally settled by Americans in the late 1860s. Prior to settlement by Americans the area was inhabited by Pomo Indians. Their artifacts and grave sites have been found along Cache Creek at the Southern city limit as well as the area around Borax Lake in the northwest portion of the city. Clearlake remained a farming and ranching community until the 1920s when it became a resort destination along with other areas in Lake County. A large portion of the area which was to become the City of Clearlake was subdivided in 1925. Most of the city lots are only 50' by 100' feet and none of the infrastructure was established at the time of subdivision. A majority of the roads were never paved and some only exist on paper. Clearlake has historically depended on tourism as its main industry with the attraction being Clear Lake. This has been a boom or bust cycle over the decades depending on several factors. Clear Lake is California's largest natural lake and boasts itself as being "The Bass Capital of the West".

The Clayton Fire was a wildfire that started on August 13, 2016 just south of Lower Lake in Lake County, California. The fire burned a total of 3,929 acres (15.90 km2) and destroyed 300 buildings, before it was fully contained on August 26. Damin Pashilk, a construction worker from Clearlake was arrested and facing 17 counts of arson related to the Clayton Fire and other fires.
