Nea Peramos (Greek: Νέα Πέραμος), before the 1990s Megalo Pefko (Greek: Μεγάλο Πεύκο), is a suburb and a former municipality in West Attica, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality Megara, of which it is a municipal unit.

Revythousa (Greek: Ρεβυθούσα) is a small, uninhabited island in the Saronic Gulf, with an area of 0.18 square kilometers. It is located 500 meters south of the coast of Agia Triada, in the bay of Pachi Megara and 900 meters west of Salamis. Revitousa administratively belongs to Salamis since 2001.

The Revithoussa LNG Terminal is the only LNG terminal in Greece. It is located on the islet of Revithoussa (or Revithousa, or Revythousa), in the Gulf of Megara, west of Athens. It was completed in 1999 and is operated by DESFA SA, which is a fully owned subsidiary of DEPA. The gas is supplied under contract from Algeria's Sonatrach, of between 0.51 and 0.68 billion cubic meters annually until 2021. There is also a contract with Italy's Eni to supply gas, though not currently used.

The MS Mediterranean Sky was a combination-passenger liner built in 1953 for Ellerman Lines' service between London and South Africa. Originally named MS City of York, she was sold in 1971 to Karageorgis Lines, converted to a cruiseferry and renamed.

Salamis Bay (Greek: Όρμος Σαλαμίνος) is a bay on the west coast of Salamis Island, Greece. It connects with the Saronic Gulf to the west. Its maximum length is approximately 9 km from northeast to west. Cape Petriti forms its southwestern end. The main town of the island, Salamina, is on the northeastern end of the bay. The village Aianteio is on its south coast. The bay is surrounded by steep hills.

Mandra-Eidyllia (Greek: Μάνδρα-Ειδύλλια) is a municipality in the West Attica regional unit, Attica, Greece. The seat of the municipality is the town Mandra. The municipality has an area of 426.197 km2.

Salamina (Greek: Σαλαμίνα, Katharevousa: Σαλαμίς, romanized: Salamís) or Kοullοuri (Greek: Κούλλουρη; Arvanitika: Kuluri) is the largest city and a former municipality on Salamina Island in Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality of Salamina, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit.It is part of the Islands regional unit of the Attica region. The city lies in the northwestern part of the island. It had a population of 25,370 inhabitants at the 2011 census, some of them are Arvanites. It was the municipal seat of the former municipality of Salamina, which had a land area of 80.992 square kilometres (31.271 sq mi) and comprised about 84 percent of the island (all except the easternmost central coast, which comprised the former municipality of Ampelakia). The population of the municipal unit was 31,776 in 2011. It includes several towns, the largest of which are Aiánteio (pop. 4,860), Stenó (198), Kanákia (206), Peristéria (206), Batsí (235), Kolónes (153), and Pérani (226).

Mandra (Greek: Μάνδρα), is a town and former municipality in West Attica, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Mandra-Eidyllia, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 205.770 km2. The population of the municipal unit was 12,888 at the 2011 census.

The 1999 Athens earthquake occurred on September 7 at 14:56:51 local time near Mount Parnitha in Greece with a moment magnitude of 6.0 and a maximum Mercalli intensity of IX (Violent). The proximity to the Athens metropolitan area resulted in widespread structural damage, mainly to the nearby suburban towns of Ano Liosia, Acharnes, Fyli, Thrakomakedones, Kifissia, Metamorfosi, Kamatero and Nea Filadelfeia. More than 100 buildings (including three major factories) across those areas collapsed trapping scores of victims under their rubble while dozens more were severely damaged. With damage estimated at $3–4.2 billion, 143 people were killed, and up to 1,600 were treated for injuries in Greece's deadliest natural disaster in almost half a century.

Attica Prefecture (Greek: Νομὸς Ἀττικῆς) was a prefecture of Greece, first established in 1833 and disestablished for the last time in 1987. The prefecture was coextensive with the present-day Attica region.

Attica (Greek: Αττική, Ancient Greek Attikḗ or Attikī́, Ancient Greek: [atːikɛ̌ː] or Modern: [atiˈci]), or the Attic Peninsula, is a historical region that encompasses the entire Athens metropolitan area, which consists of the city of Athens, the capital of Greece and the core city of the metropolitan area, as well as its surrounding suburban cities and towns. It is a peninsula projecting into the Aegean Sea, bordering on Boeotia to the north and Megaris to the west. The southern tip of the peninsula, known as Laurion, was an important mining region. The history of Attica is tightly linked with that of Athens. In ancient times, Attica corresponded with the Athens city-state. It was the most prominent region in Ancient Greece, specifically during the Golden Age of Athens in the classical period. Ancient Attica (the classical Athens city-state) was divided into demoi, or municipalities, from the reform of Cleisthenes in 508/7 BC, grouped into three zones: urban (astu) in the region of Athens main town, and Piraeus (the port), coastal (paralia) along the coastline, and inland (mesogeia) in the interior. The modern administrative region of Attica is more extensive than the historical region, and includes Megaris as part of the regional unit of West Attica, the Saronic Islands and Cythera, as well as the municipality of Troizinia on the Peloponnesian mainland.

Salamis ( SAL-ə-miss; Ancient Greek and Katharevousa: Σαλαμίς, romanized: Salamís) or Salamina (Modern Greek: Σαλαμίνα, romanized: Salamína) is the largest Greek island in the Saronic Gulf, about two kilometres (one nautical mile) from the coast of Piraeus and about 16 km (8+1⁄2 nmi) west of central Athens. The chief city, Salamina, lies in the west-facing core of the crescent on Salamis Bay, which opens into the Saronic Gulf. On the eastern side of the island is its main port, Paloukia, the second largest port in Greece in terms of size, after the port of Piraeus.
