Ss John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School is a coeducational secondary school located in Colne in the English county of Lancashire. The school is named after the Roman Catholic Saints John Fisher and Thomas More. The headteacher from September 2002 to July 2007 was Mr Brendan Conboy, who moved to Our Lady's Catholic College.

Colne Primet Academy (formerly Colne Primet High School) is a mixed secondary school located in Colne in the English county of Lancashire.Previously a community school, administered by Lancashire County Council, Colne Primet High School converted to academy status on 1 January 2013, and was renamed Colne Primet Academy. The school is now sponsored by the Pendle Education Trust, but continues to coordinate with Lancashire County Council for admissions. Colne Primet Academy offers GCSEs, BTECs and ASDAN courses as programmes of study for pupils.

Pendle is a constituency in Lancashire represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2010 by Andrew Stephenson, a Conservative. The constituency was newly created for the 1983 general election, being largely formed from the former Nelson and Colne constituency.

Castercliff is an Iron Age multivallate hillfort situated close to the towns of Nelson and Colne in Lancashire, Northern England. It is located on a hilltop overlooking the valley system of the River Calder and its tributaries, on the western edge of the South Pennines. On the upper part of the hill, triple rubble ramparts up to 1.5 metres (4 ft 11 in) high, separated by ditches of similar depth, surround the site on all sides except the north. On this side the defences consist mainly of a single rampart and ditch, but some short lengths of triple rampart and ditch are also found here. The inner rampart may have been timber-laced and revetted with stone and enclosed an oval area measuring approximately 115 by 76 metres (377 by 249 ft).The summit of the hill is 280 metres (920 ft) above sea level and the surrounding ground falls rapidly on all sides except the south east. Here a neck of land, dropping 18 metres (60 ft) from the summit, connects it to similarly high ground about 370 metres (1,200 ft) away. Streams spring from either side of the ridge and the deep valleys which they have cut, especially on the south, offer additional defence.Excavations during the 1970s appear to show that the site was not completed, and no evidence of occupation was unearthed. The site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The hillfort has been damaged by coal mining with old bell pits evident both inside and around the site.

Nelson power station supplied electricity to the town of Nelson, Lancashire and the surrounding area from 1892 to 1960. The power station was owned and operated by Nelson Corporation prior to the nationalisation of the British electricity supply industry in 1948. It was redeveloped in 1922 to 1925 to meet the increased demand for electricity.

Colne railway station serves the town of Colne, in Lancashire, England, which is situated close to Pendle Hill. The station, which is managed by Northern, is the eastern terminus of the East Lancashire Line. Trains from Blackpool South run through Preston and Blackburn to Burnley and Colne. Currently the station only has a single platform and a shelter. The old station was demolished in 1971, after the closure of the line from Colne to Skipton, which had occurred in the previous year.

Higherford is a village in the Pendle district of Lancashire, England. Although it is a village in its own right and shown on maps, it is sometimes confused with its larger neighbour Barrowford. Both villages meet each other on the A682 road, which runs through them from Nelson and towards Blacko and Gisburn. It is generally accepted that the boundary between the two villages is north of the road bridge over Pendle Water.

Colne Water is a river in eastern Lancashire. It is approximately 5.0 miles (7.987 km) long and has a catchment area excluding its major tributaries (the River Laneshaw, Wycoller Beck, Trawden Brook and Wanless Water) of 4.47 square miles (11.584 km2).Colne Water is formed at the Covey Bridge near Laneshaw Bridge by the confluence of the River Laneshaw and Wycoller Beck. From there, the river runs in a westerly direction toward the town of Colne, collecting Trawden Brook at Cottontree. It continues through Colne's south valley, meeting Church Clough Brook in the Waterside area and passing under the East Lancashire railway line viaduct and the A56 Burnley Road at Primet Bridge. It is joined by Guy Syke at the Greenfield Bridge and passes the town's sewage works as it leaves, shortly afterwards collecting Wanless Water and then Swinden Clough just before it passes under the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. It joins Pendle Water at the Lowerford part of Barrowford, just after the M65 motorway bridge.The name Colne possibly originates from the ancient British language, but the meaning is uncertain. It is thought that the town takes its name from the river. Water (OE wæter) is a common name for a stream, most often found in southern Scotland.

Colne () is a market town and civil parish in the Borough of Pendle in Lancashire, England. Located 3 mi (4.8 km) northeast of Nelson, 6 mi (9.7 km) north-east of Burnley, 25 mi (40 km) east of Preston and 30 mi (48 km) west of Leeds. The town should not be confused with the unrelated Colne Valley around the River Colne near Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. Colne is close to the southern entrance to the Aire Gap, the lowest crossing of the Pennine watershed. The M65 terminates west of the town and from here two main roads take traffic onwards towards the Yorkshire towns of Skipton (A56) and Keighley (A6068). Colne railway station is the terminus of the East Lancashire railway line. Colne adjoins the Pendle parishes of Foulridge, Laneshaw Bridge, Trawden Forest, Nelson, Barrowford and Blacko.

William Roberts and Company (later William Roberts and Sons) of Phoenix Foundry in Nelson, Lancashire, England, produced many of the steam engines that powered cotton weaving and spinning mills of Pendle and neighbouring districts. Industrial historian Mike Rothwell has called Phoenix foundry “Nelson’s most significant engineering site”.
