Wolin Smock Mill

Karsibór (formerly German: Kaseburg or Caseburg) is an island in the Szczecin Lagoon, Poland, which was created by the cutting of the Piast Canal which separated it from the island of Usedom. The island was named after its largest village (now district of the town of Świnoujście). In 1880, the Kaiserfahrt (Piast Canal) channel was opened providing a water route with a depth of 10 metres (33 ft) connecting the lagoon with the Baltic Sea bypassing the eastern part of the Świna arm (Old Świna) of the Oder River, allowing large ships quicker and safer enter the lagoon and the seaport of Szczecin than on the natural river. The canal, approximately 12 km (7.5 mi) long and 10 metres (33 ft) deep, was dug by the German Empire between 1874 and 1880, during the reign of the first Kaiser Wilhelm (1797–1888) after whom it was named. After the defeat of Germany in World War II, under the terms of the Potsdam Agreement, in 1945 the region became part of Poland, which renamed the canal after the Piast dynasty. There is a memorial to the British pilots of the No. 617 Squadron RAF, who were shot down by Germany in April 1945.

Warnie Kępy (formerly German: Warnitz-Wiesen or Warnitzwiesen) is a Polish island in Szczecin Lagoon, near Wolin. Warnie Kępy is uninhabited and has been placed under natural protection due to its many animal species and nesting grounds, especially those of birds.

Karsiborska Kępa (formerly German: Kaseburger Hutung) is an island near Świnoujście in north-western Poland. It is also the name of a nature reserve and bird sanctuary on the island. The island is known for being possibly the most important breeding area for the aquatic warbler. OTOP, the Polish Society for the Protection of Birds bought 1.8 square kilometres of the island. The whole island covers some 3 km2 and is the only reserve owned by OTOP. The number of aquatic warblers on the island depends on the water level and the available vegetation. There were between 55 singing males in the late 1990s. The island consists of large meadows, pastures, and it has large reed beds. Numerous other breeding birds include: marsh and Montagu's harriers, Eurasian curlew, common redshank and bearded tit. Other species include white-tailed eagle, black kite and lesser spotted eagle. On passage there are numerous flocks of geese, waterfowl, cranes and waders. The other forms of wildlife include wild boar and occasionally otter. The site is frequented by birders and is placed ideally for those driving to Poland via Germany.

Wielki Krzek is a Polish island in the Szczecin Lagoon, near Wolin, at the mouth of Świna, east of Karsibór. Wielki Krzek is uninhabited and is under natural protection on account of its many species of animals.

The Piast Canal (German: Kaiserfahrt, Polish: Kanał Piastowski) is a ship canal that connects the Szczecin Lagoon in the estuary of the Oder river with the Baltic Sea via the Świna river. The eastern part of the Świna is bypassed by the canal, providing a more convenient south-north connection for large ships from the Baltic to reach the industrial city of Szczecin (German: Stettin) more easily.

Lubin (Polish: [ˈlubin]; German: Lebbin) is a village on the Wolin island in the administrative district of Gmina Międzyzdroje, within Kamień County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland.It lies approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) south of Międzyzdroje, 26 km (16 mi) south-west of Kamień Pomorski, and 52 km (32 mi) north of the regional capital Szczecin. The village has a population of 340. There is a medieval stronghold and viewing point in Lubin.

Wapnica [vapˈnit͡sa] (German: Kalkofen) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Międzyzdroje, within Kamień County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland. It lies approximately 6 kilometres (4 mi) south of Międzyzdroje, 25 km (16 mi) south-west of Kamień Pomorski, and 53 km (33 mi) north of the regional capital Szczecin. The village has a population of 350.

The Świnoujście LNG terminal (also referred as Terminal LNG in Świnoujście, Polskie LNG Baltic LNG, or gazoport) is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal at Świnoujście, in the extreme north-west of Poland near the Polish-German border. The LNG terminal is operated by Polskie LNG S.A., a subsidiary of Gaz-System. The cornerstone for construction was laid on 23 March 2011 and it took its first LNG delivery on 11 December 2015. The terminal's regasification capacity is 5 billion cubic metres per annum (180 billion cubic feet per annum). The terminal is currently being expanded and once the expansion is complete in 2023, it will have a capacity of 7.5 billion cubic metres per annum (260 billion cubic feet per annum) and be able to satisfy about half of Poland's annual natural gas demand. Together with the 10 bcm of natural gas that Poland will (starting in 2023) receive annually from Norway via the Baltic Pipe natural gas pipeline, the Świnoujście LNG terminal will allow Poland to achieve its long-term goal of becoming fully independent of Russian natural gas, which had previously been the source of almost all of the country's natural gas.

It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) south of Międzyzdroje, 25 km (16 mi) west of Kamień Pomorski, and 55 km (34 mi) north of the regional capital Szczecin.

Świnoujście Lighthouse (Polish: Latarnia Morska Świnoujście) is an active lighthouse in Świnoujście, Poland. At a height of 212 feet (65 m) it is the fifteenth tallest "traditional lighthouse" in the world, as well as the tallest brick lighthouse, and the tallest in Poland. It is located on the east bank of the river Świna just inside the entrance.

German submarine U-803 was a Type IXC/40 U-boat built for Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II at Bremerhaven.
