White Rock Centre

Semiahmoo Shopping Centre ( SEH-mee-AH-moo) is an indoor shopping mall on the Semiahmoo peninsula in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Opened in 1980, the shopping centre is named after the nearby Semiahmoo Bay and is currently anchored by Save-On-Foods and Winners.

White Rock is a city in British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. It borders Semiahmoo Bay to the south and is surrounded on three sides by Surrey. To the southeast across a footbridge lies the Semiahmoo First Nation, which is within the borders of Surrey. Semiahmoo Bay and the Southern Gulf Islands in the Strait of Georgia are also to the south. White Rock is named for a large white boulder on its beach near the promenade, a glacial erratic that migrated south during the last glaciation. The 486-ton granite boulder was kept white by shellfish-eating seabirds whose guano covered the rock so much that 19th-century sailors used it as a beacon. It is now kept white through monthly applications of white paint by the city parks department and has been a graffiti target. The White Rock Pier is located nearby.

It was founded in 1940 as the first senior secondary school in South Surrey. The school serves grades eight through twelve.Semiahmoo is one of four public high schools on the peninsula, along with Earl Marriott Secondary School, Elgin Park Secondary School and Grandview Heights Secondary School. The school is named after the indigenous Semiahmoo people.

Earl Marriott Secondary (EMS) is a public high school in the Vancouver suburb of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada and is part of School District 36 Surrey. It is referred to as the 'Home of the Mariners'. It is located on the edge of city limits, on 16th Avenue (which straddles the border between Surrey and White Rock).

South Surrey Athletic Park is a popular recreational park in the White Rock/South Surrey community. The park is bound by 18th avenue to the south, 148th street to the east, 24th avenue to the North and Sunnyside Urban Acres Forest to the west. The park has three baseball diamonds, an indoor baseball training facility, tennis and volleyball courts, a number of grass and artificial turf soccer fields and an outdoor red urethane oval track. There are also four multi-purpose fields adjacent to Semiahmoo Secondary School that are commonly used for football, rugby and soccer. The park also has a skateboarding facility, an outdoor waterpark, a mountain bike park, a youth community centre and a Rotary Field house.South Surrey Athletic Park is home to two large establishments: Softball City, a softball complex with four diamonds that is host to the annual Canada Cup international women's fastpitch tournament, and South Surrey Arena, a hockey arena that is home to the South Surrey Eagles. Many other local teams play (or played) their home games at South Surrey Athletic Park, including: The White Rock Tritons of the B.C. South Surrey is a community within the City of Surrey, British Columbia, located on the Semiahmoo peninsula in the southern portion of the City of Surrey, sharing a border with the City of White Rock. Neighbourhoods of South Surrey include Crescent Beach, Crescent Heights, Elgin, Chantrell Creek, Morgan Creek, Grandview Heights, Hazelmere, Ocean Park, and Sunnyside. Most of South Surrey lies in White Rock's population centre.

The Campbell River passes through Surrey and Langley, British Columbia, Canada, entering Semiahmoo Bay at the Semiahmoo Indian Reserve, which lies between the City of White Rock and Peace Arch Park on the international boundary. Originally labelled Campbell Creek in 1917 by the Geographic Board of Canada, it was labelled Tahtaloo on International Boundary Survey sheet 2 (date not cited) (a toponym derived from Tah-tu-lo, the Semiahmoo endonym for their dialect of Straits Salish); variant spellings include Tahla too, Tah-la-loo, and Tah tu lo. It was probably named after Archibald Campbell, US commissioner in the joint negotiations to locate the international boundary 1857–1862, who had his camp at the mouth of the creek. It was identified in the field notes of Joseph Trutch's survey as Semiahmoo Creek in 1859. "Ta’talu" is the name used nowadays by the Semiahmoo First Nation residing in its vicinity.

South Surrey—White Rock (French: Surrey-Sud—White Rock) is a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2015. It encompass a portion of British Columbia previously included in the electoral districts of Fleetwood—Port Kells, Newton—North Delta, and South Surrey—White Rock—Cloverdale.South Surrey—White Rock was created by the 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution and was legally defined in the 2013 representation order. It came into effect upon the call of the 42nd Canadian federal election, on October 19, 2015.The 2017 by-election was won by Liberal candidate and former White Rock mayor Gordie Hogg. However, the Conservatives were quick to regain their seat with Kerry-Lynne Findlay winning the 43nd Canadian federal election, defeating Gordie Hogg who entered Parliament through a by-election.
