Newland Road Site, also known as The Nine Foot Brick Road, is a historic archaeological site located near Morgan's Corner, Pasquotank County, North Carolina. The site consists of two remnant portions of a nine-foot wide highway constructed with brick and constructed in 1921–1922.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Pasquotank County High School is a school in Elizabeth City, Pasquotank County, North Carolina, USA. PCHS's mascot is the Panther. Its school colors are navy blue and silver. It is one of three high schools in the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools system; the other (sometimes considered a rival) is Northeastern High School. PCHS was established in 2000 to relieve the population of Northeastern High; however, all members of the senior class of 2001 remained at Northeastern, making the class of 2002 the first graduating class of Pasquotank County High. The class of 2004 was the first group of students to start at the school as freshmen and graduate from there, spending all four years as PCHS Panthers.

Morgan House is a historic home located in Pasquotank County, North Carolina. It was built circa 1826 for Samuel Holstead, and is a two-story, three-bay, Federal style, temple-form frame dwelling. It sits on a brick pier foundation, with a three-part form-a central section flanked by porches. The front facade features a "dwarf portico" supported by two pairs of vernacular Doric order columns that carry an arched central bay.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Battle of South Mills, also known as the Battle of Camden, took place on April 19, 1862 in Camden County, North Carolina as part of Union Army Maj. Gen. Ambrose E. Burnside's North Carolina expedition during the American Civil War. Learning that the Confederates were building ironclads at Norfolk, Burnside planned an expedition to destroy the Dismal Swamp Canal locks to prevent transfer of the ships to Albemarle Sound. He entrusted the operation to Brig. Gen. Jesse L. Reno's command, which embarked on transports from Roanoke Island on April 18. By midnight, the convoy reached Elizabeth City and began disembarking troops. On the morning of April 19, Reno marched north on the road to South Mills. At the crossroads a few miles below South Mills, elements of Col. Ambrose R. Wright's command delayed the Federals until dark. Reno abandoned the expedition and withdrew during the night to the transports at Elizabeth City. The transports carried Reno's troops to New Bern where they arrived on April 22. Union forces later pushed Confederate units out of the coastal areas, which they occupied for the duration of the war.

William Riley Abbott House is a historic plantation house located near South Mills, Camden County, North Carolina. It was built about 1850 with the profits of the forced labor of about 40 enslaved people, and is a two-story, five-bay, Greek Revival-style frame dwelling. It has a vernacular Colonial Revival style portico that dates from the 1920s.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

South Mills is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Camden County, North Carolina, United States. Its population was 454 as of the 2010 census. South Mills has a post office with ZIP code 27976, which opened on March 2, 1840. The community is located near U.S. Route 17, and U.S. Route 17 Business and North Carolina Highway 343, and future Interstate 87 (North Carolina) pass through the community. The community derived its name from a watermill which operated near the original town site.The William Riley Abbott House, Dismal Swamp Canal, and Morgan House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Northeastern High School (often abbreviated NHS) is a public school located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, in the United States. It was founded in 1969, replacing Elizabeth City High School, P.W. Moore High School, and Central High School. Northeastern's mascot is the Eagle. Its school colors are green and gold. It is one of two high schools in Pasquotank County; the other is Pasquotank County High School.

Norfolk Southern Passenger Station is a historic train station located at Elizabeth City, Pasquotank County, North Carolina. It was built in 1914 by the Norfolk Southern Railway, and is a long one-story brick building with eclectic Mission Revival style design elements. It measures 98 feet by 36 feet, with a small projecting control booth. It is topped by a tall hipped roof sheathed in clay tile. Passenger service at Elizabeth City ceased in early 1948, and the building subsequently housed a variety of commercial businesses.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Old Brick House is a historic home located at Elizabeth City, Pasquotank County, North Carolina. It was built about 1750, and is a 1+1⁄2-story frame dwelling with brick gable ends. It sits on a raised brick basement, has a gable roof with dormers, and two interior end chimneys with molded caps. The interior features a richly carved mantel with an elaborate broken ogee pediment. It is one of the few brick-end buildings in the state. It is a member of the small group of 18th century frame houses with brick ends in northeast North Carolina; the group includes the Sutton-Newby House and the Myers-White House. Local legend held that the house was built and first occupied by the pirate Blackbeard, though in reality he had been dead since 1718.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Milford, also known as the Relfe-Grice-Sawyer House, is the oldest two-story brick home located near Camden, Camden County, North Carolina, United States. Its 1746 construction date is carved on a brick on the interior face of the north chimney & was confirmed by dendrochronology test in the 1990s. The formal two-story brick gabled structure, two bays deep and three bays wide, has interior end chimneys terminating in molded caps.The brickwork is of Flemish bond with glazed headers, featuring three-course stringers of Flemish bond between the first and second stories and at the base of the gables. The use of one-to-three common bond in the brick of the south gable represents the earliest known example of this type of bonding in North Carolina. The north gable probably corresponds, but the entire north side is now concealed by stucco. Tumbling of the brick occurs along the rakes of the south gable. Tumbled bricks are usually placed at right angles to the gable slope, and the vertical placement of these bricks is, according to Thomas Waterman in The Early Architecture of North Carolina, found in only one other structure, the Wallop house in Accomack County, Virginia.The west facade formerly functioned as the principal front, but the main entrance is located now in the central bay of the east facade. The doorway as well as the windows of the first story are ornamented only by flat arches serving as lintels. The windows of the second story, set quite close to the cornice, are completely plain. The lintels are formed of rowlocks which originally surmounted the south gable windows are still visible, although the windows are now much smaller.The great plaster cove cornices, believed by Waterman to be unique in colonial architecture south of Maryland, further enhance the monumentality of the house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
