The Griggs House was a historic home located in Granite, Maryland. It was a two-story house constructed in the mid-19th century. The home is associated with the film, The Blair Witch Project. The house was a built in the style of Federal architecture, as a two-story stucco faced post and beam wood construction house on a stone foundation. It was two bays by three bays wide, and situated near the Smith/Sumwalt house and the Granite quarry which the town was renamed for. The house was visible on the 1877 Baltimore County Atlas. In 1984, the Department of Natural Resources conducted a historical survey of the Griggs property that resided on parkland of Patapsco Valley State Park. The property was not in use by this time and had interior details removed by vandals.In 1999, the house was used for the climactic ending of The Blair Witch Project. After filming, the State of Maryland announced it would demolish the historic home. As fans were visiting the abandoned house, its condition deteriorated. Funds were raised to save the building based on the success of the movie, and the State released press announcements that the property would be spared. However, the house was demolished soon afterwards without an announcement.

Granite is an unincorporated community in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. Originally known as Waltersville, it was renamed Granite in recognition of its principal product (the Woodstock Quartz Monzonite was quarried). The village was the center of this industry, which during its peak in the late 19th century provided building materials for major projects throughout the eastern seaboard. The Granite Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.The Nike Missile Base BA-79 was located in Granite. It was active from 1954 to 1974. In 1999, final scenes of The Blair Witch Project were filmed in the Griggs House in Patapsco Valley State Park. The state planned on demolishing the historic structure until publicity from the movie brought contributors for its preservation. The house was demolished at a later date without an announcement.

Granite Historic District is a national historic district in Granite, Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. It comprises the focus of a rural quarrying community located in the Patapsco Valley of western Baltimore County, Maryland. It includes two churches, a school, a social hall, former commercial buildings, and houses and outbuildings, representing the period from the initial settlement of the area about 1750 through the early 20th century, when the village achieved its present form. The district also includes the former Waltersville quarry, one of two major granite operations in the region during the period. Granite from the Waltersville and Fox Rock quarries was utilized in construction of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad in the 1830s, and later in such projects as the Library of Congress, old Treasury Building, and parts of the inner walls of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., and numerous other projects in Baltimore city and county.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Woodstock College was a Jesuit seminary that existed from 1869 to 1974. It was the oldest Jesuit seminary in the United States. The school was located in Woodstock, Maryland, west of Baltimore, from its establishment until 1969, when it moved to New York City, where it operated in cooperation with the Union Theological Seminary and the Jewish Theological Seminary. The school closed in 1974. It was survived by the Woodstock Theological Center, an independent, nonprofit Catholic research institute located at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Branton Manor is a historic home located at Sykesville, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It is two stories with a gable roof and a large stone interior chimney at the east end. The overall exterior appearance of the house is quite mixed, with each section having a different style and roofline. The oldest section dates to approximately 1766.Branton Manor was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Choate House is a historic home located at Randallstown, Baltimore County, Maryland. It is a 2+1⁄2-story gable-roofed stone building built in 1810, with a porch and dormers added in the 1880s. The Italianate style was probably applied in the 1880s and include a full-length porch.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Shervettes Corner is an unincorporated community in Carroll County, Maryland, United States, lying between Eldersburg and Randallstown. It is surrounded on three sides by Liberty Reservoir, south of Maryland Route 26. It is located east of the Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Liberty Reservoir is a reservoir west of Baltimore, Maryland; about a mile north of Patapsco Valley State Park's McKeldin area. It is owned by the City of Baltimore Department of Public Works, but is located outside the city, and it divides Baltimore and Carroll Counties.

Ivy Hill is a historic home and farm and plantation located in Marriottsville, Howard County, Maryland. The property was part of General William Hammond Marriott's property. Marriott would later become Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates in 1822. During the Civil War the farm was searched as the potential hiding place of 1st Maryland Infantry, CSA General Bradley Tyler Johnson, who was in the attic at the nearby Mt. Pleasant Farm.

Soldiers Delight Natural Environmental Area is a nature reserve near Owings Mills in western Baltimore County, Maryland, U.S. The site is designated both as a Maryland Wildland (1,526 acres) and as a Natural Environment Area (1,900 acres) and is part of the Maryland Wildlands Preservation System. The site's protected status is due to the presence of serpentine soil and over 39 rare, threatened, or endangered plant species along with rare insects, rocks and minerals.
