North Columbus Commercial Historic District

Old North Columbus is a neighborhood located just north of the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. It was founded in 1847 where, at the time, it was a stand-alone city out of the confines of Columbus until it was incorporated into the City of Columbus in 1871. In its early years the city was a popular stagecoach stop with people traveling from Worthington to Columbus. Today Old North Columbus is popular for its local music and its unique "untouched architecture" which is reminiscent of its old roots.

The Open Air School is a historic building in the Tuttle Park area of Old North Columbus in Columbus, Ohio. The building was constructed as a school, and today houses local a café, bar, a fitness center, and event space. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. The former open air school building first housed students at risk of catching tuberculosis. Because of this, the building has large windows, gathering spaces, outdoor areas, and nearby wilderness. It replaced an older open air school building on the site, built in 1913. The 1927 building subsequently held Neil Avenue Elementary, from 1956 to 1975. It then held Columbus City Schools administrative offices, and later sat vacant for years. Around 2019, a $6.1-million renovation plan was announced, for the site to hold a mix of businesses. Proposed tenants included a coffee shop, fitness center, a restaurant, and offices. In 2022, a local brewery opened a restaurant and bar, called Understory, on-site.The 30,586 sq ft (2,841.5 m2) building sits on 1.2 acres (0.49 ha). It was designed by Howard Dwight Smith, architect of the Ohio Stadium, and was built in 1927. Its Italian Renaissance Revival style is constructed of reinforced concrete and has a brick and terra cotta facade.

Columbus North High School is a public high school building located on the north side of Columbus, Ohio at 100 E. Arcadia Avenue. It is part of the Columbus City School District. The school was closed in 1979 due to declining enrollment.In December 1921, the Columbus Board of Education purchased a thirteen-acre tract of land on Arcadia Ave., which included the old Columbus Sewer Pipe Factory, for $39,000. Famed architect, Frank Packard designed the building, of Tudor Revival architecture, costing approximately $1,000,000. Construction began in 1923 and the building opened on September 2, 1924. It graduated its first class in January 1925.The North High School building served as an adult education center for many years. From 2006-2008 the North building was used as swing space by East High School during the renovation of the East High School building. Linden-McKinley High School used the building as swing space from 2009-2011 during the renovation of the Linden-McKinley building. From 2012–2019, the North High School building was the home of Columbus North International High School. Columbus North International moved to the former Brookhaven High School building in 2019. The North High School building was renovated, and is now home to Dominion Middle School. Bishop Watterson High School rents use of the stadium at North High School from Columbus City Schools for their home football games. North High School won the first state Ohio High School Athletic Association track and field championship shortly after the formation of the association. The school also had an undefeated football season in 1918 under Coach Errett Selby.

The University District (or University Area), is a 2.8-square-mile (7.3 km2) area located 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Downtown Columbus, Ohio that is home to the main campus of Ohio State University, the Battelle Institute, and Wexner Medical Center. It is generally accepted as the area bounded to the north by Clintonville at Glen Echo Ravine; to the south by the Short North at 5th Avenue; to the west by the Olentangy River and to east by the Conrail railroad tracks. Points of interest include, but are not limited to, the Ohio Stadium and Old North Columbus. The district is Columbus' most densely populated area and contains more than 650 businesses, human service agencies, churches, and schools. University District businesses include boutiques, mixed retail, several tattoo studios, the Gateway Film Center, and a diverse range of restaurants and bars.

Loop the Loop was an early looping steel roller coaster which operated at Olentangy Park in Columbus, Ohio during the first decade of the 1900s. It was one of the first looping roller coasters to operate in North America, and it was designed and built by noted inventor Lina Beecher.

Olentangy Park was a trolley park, a type of amusement park, in Clintonville, Columbus, Ohio, operating from 1880 to 1937.

The Wilma H. Schiermeier Olentangy River Wetland Research Park is an experimental wetland complex located adjacent to the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, United States and is part of the School of Environment and Natural Resources at the university. Begun in 1992, the park has developed into a multitude of different habitats and setups which are used by OSU faculty and students for research. Additionally, the general public is welcome to enjoy independent tours of the area during daylight hours. Guided tours are also available upon request.

Medary Avenue Elementary School is a school building in the Old North Columbus neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The building was constructed in 1892 and was designed by prolific school architect David Riebel.

The Gilbert H. Hamilton House is a historic building in the Glen Echo neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992 and the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 2018. The house, completed in 1927, overlooks the Glen Echo Ravine. It was built for Gilbert H. and Caroline J. Hamilton; the family lived there until 1952.

The Oakland & Northwood Avenue Area (sometimes referred to as Northwood Park) is located in the northern University District in Columbus, Ohio and is bounded by Patterson Avenue to the north and Northwood Avenue to the south & Pearl Alley to the west and Indianola Avenue to the east . It is sometimes considered to go as far north as Blake Ave. The Northwood & Oakland Avenue Area was settled between the early 1900s and the 1940s, making it one of the first subdivisions to be built on the then "outskirts" of the City of Columbus. The homes are traditionally American Four Square with some Classical, Prairie, Colonial, and Craftsman mixed in to create a unique tree lined neighborhood. The neighborhood is known for its strong sense of community, large homes, beautiful gardens and brick alleys. It also has a very high percentage of owner-occupancy. Northwood Park is listed on the Columbus Register of Historic Properties as the Northwood Park Historic District. It was added on February 8, 1989, with the designation CR-45.

WOSU-FM (89.7 FM) is a non-commercial educational radio station licensed to Columbus, Ohio, featuring a public radio news and information format known as "89.7fm NPR News". Owned by The Ohio State University, the station serves the Columbus metro area and has multiple repeaters throughout Ohio, making the station a multiple transmitter station.WOSU-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 40,000 watts. Its transmitter is on West Dodridge Road in Columbus, near the Olentangy River.

The Tom W. Davis Tower is a clock tower at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. It is located near the North Recreation Center and features a 20x40 foot light-emitting diode display and a large clock. It was completed in autumn of 2017. The tower displays inscribed quotes from William McKinley, John F. Kennedy, and Roberto Clemente at its base.
