Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research

Founded on 18 March 2011, the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (MPI-IS) is one of the 86 research institutes of the Max Planck Society. With locations in Stuttgart and Tübingen, it combines interdisciplinary research in the growing field of intelligent systems. Intelligent systems are becoming increasingly important in many areas of life – as virtual systems on the Internet or as cyber-physical systems in the physical world. Artificial intelligent systems can be used in a broad range of areas, for instance in autonomous vehicles or to diagnose and fight diseases.

Patch Barracks is a U.S. military installation in Stuttgart, Germany. It is named after U.S. Army General Alexander M. Patch (1889–1945).

Alexander M. Patch American High School (also known as "Patch American High School" or "Patch High School") was an English language high school in Germany, on Patch Barracks southwest of Stuttgart, operated by DODEA (formerly known as DoDDS). Opened in 1979, its students were largely military dependents whose sponsors were assigned to units of the Stuttgart Military Community, including Patch Barracks, Robinson Barracks, Panzer Kaserne, and Kelley Barracks. The school was named after United States Army General Alexander McCarrell Patch (1889–1945), the commander of the Seventh Army during World War II. For its first 27 years, it was a secondary school (grades 7–12), and with the 1992 closure of Stuttgart American High School in Pattonville, it became the only DODEA (DoDDS) high school in the Stuttgart area. In the fall of 2006, the school's enrollment was reduced to a four-year high school (grades 9–12) due to projected increasing enrollment and middle schools created at nearby Panzer Kaserne and Robinson Barracks. Following its 36th year of service, PAHS closed in 2015, officially on 30 June. The new Stuttgart High School on Panzer Kaserne, just east of Böblingen, opened that fall and remains the only DoDEA (DoDDS) high school in the Stuttgart area.

The High Performance Computing Center (HLRS) in Stuttgart, Germany, is a research institute and a supercomputer center. HLRS has currently a flagship installation of a HPE Apollo 9000 system called Hawk 26 PFLOPS peak performance replacing the Cray XC40 system called Hazel Hen, providing ~7,4 PFLOPS peak performance. The Stuttgart Media University or Media University (German: Hochschule der Medien) is a state university of media studies in Stuttgart, Germany, offering nearly 30 accredited bachelor's and master's degree programs within three faculties.

The Bernhartshöhe (Bernhart's heights) is a mountain of 549 m (1,801 ft) in the [[Stuttgart-Vaihingen ]] Part of Stuttgart, covering the southwesternmost part of the city of Stuttgart, capital of the German Bundesland (state) of Baden-Württemberg. It is the city's highest point of elevation. Bernhartshöhe is directly adjacent to the crossing of the A 8 and A 81 motorways (Autobahnkreuz Stuttgart), two crucial traffic arteries of Southern Germany.

Stuttgart University station (German: Bahnhof Stuttgart Universität) is an underground station on the Stuttgart S-Bahn in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It was opened on 29 September 1985 to serve the development of the Pfaffenwaldring campus of the Stuttgart University in the district of Vaihingen, an Outer District of Stuttgart. It lies on the main line of the S-Bahn. Its neighbouring stations are Stuttgart Schwabstraße and Stuttgart Österfeld (since 1993). The station has been served since its opening by lines S1, S2 and S3.

Stuttgart Computer Museum (Computermuseum der Stuttgarter Informatik) is a collection of calculators, mechanical calculating machines, and analog and digital computers at the Vaihingen campus of University of Stuttgart, Germany established in 1997.Highlights of the collection include several DEC PDP-8 and DEC PDP-11 models, an IBM 1130, and a LGP-30 vacuum tube-based computer. Many items in the collection are in fully working condition and are available for demonstrations.

Österfeld station is located in the Stuttgart district of Vaihingen in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It was built in 1985 at the junction of the main line of the Stuttgart S-Bahn where it emerges from the Hasenberg tunnel and connects with the Stuttgart–Horb railway, which runs above ground. Attached to the station is a park-and-ride car park with 500 places, which is directly accessible from the A 831 autobahn. The station is otherwise only accessible by foot. Above the station is the STEP business park with numerous offices, including the headquarters of Debitel. Near the station are also the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure building and the Michael Bauer School (a Waldorf school).

Vaihingen station is located on the Stuttgart–Horb railway in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is served by regional services and Stuttgart S-Bahn lines S1, S2 and S3. It is also a hub for public transport to the Filder plain.

The Solituderennen (eng: Solitude race) motorsport events are held on the 11.4 km Solitudering race track near Stuttgart. The event and the track were named after the nearby Castle Solitude. Motorsports events were held there from 1903 to 1965. Due to the narrow track, initially mainly motorcycle events were held there until 1956. The track and the pits were widened in early 1957 and sports car racing was staged by the automobile club ADAC. Grand Prix motorcycle racing events were held at the track from 1952 to 1964, with the German motorcycle Grand Prix taking place there in even-numbered years: 1952, 1954, 1956, 1958, 1960, 1962 and 1964. From 1961 to 1964, non-Championship Formula One Grand Prix races were also held, in addition to previous Formula 2 and Formula Junior events. In 2003, a memorial event was held, with many former participants and vehicles.

Solitude Palace (German: Schloss Solitude) is a Rococo schloss and hunting retreat commissioned by Charles Eugene, Duke of Württemberg. It was designed by Johann Friedrich Weyhing and Philippe de La Guêpière, and constructed from 1764 to 1769. It is located on an elongated ridge between the towns of Leonberg, Gerlingen and Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg.
