Dutchess Community College

WEOK (1390 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Poughkeepsie, New York and serving the Mid-Hudson Valley. The station is owned by Townsquare Media and airs a Spanish-language adult hits radio format, known as "Juan 95.7." By day, WEOK is powered at 5,000 watts. But to protect other stations on 1390 AM at night, it reduces power to 106 watts at sunset, using a directional antenna at all times. The transmitter is adjacent to the Townsquare complex on Pendell Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie. It uses a two-tower array. Programming is also heard on two FM translators, both at 95.7 MHz, one in Poughkeepsie and one in Middletown.

Violet Avenue School is a historic school building located at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York. It was built in 1939–1940, and is a two-story, five part, Colonial Revival style school building with load-bearing bluestone walls. It consists of a central tetrastyle portico entry block flanked by four wings. The central section features a central two-story classical portico with four columns with Corinthian order capitals and a prominent domed cupola. The school was built under the auspices of the Public Works Administration and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was influential in the design.: 4, 10 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

The Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie, New York was a building and a psychiatric facility for adults operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health. It was closed in January 2012, and patients were moved to Rockland Psychiatric Center.It was located at 10 Ross Circle, in Poughkeepsie, not far from the defunct Hudson River State Hospital. The property continues to serve as an Office of Mental Health field office.

Mader House is a historic home located at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York. It was built about 1925 and is a 1+1⁄2-story, three-bay-wide bungalow-style dwelling with a low-pitched roof. It is sheathed in pink stucco and sits on a raised basement. It features a spacious front porch and large multi-paned windows.It was designed by architect Percival M. Lloyd. Lloyd has nine buildings on the National Register, including the Hudson Valley's first skyscraper - a six story bank building also in Poughkeepsie. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Smith Metropolitan AME Zion Church is a historic African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church located at Smith and Cottage Streets in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York. It is the oldest predominantly African-American church in Dutchess County, NY. The church was a part of The Underground Railroad led by Civil Rights leader Harriet Tubman. The first black female judge in America, Ms. Jane Bolin, was a member of this church, along with other influential people. The church has experienced phenomenal new growth under the leadership of their Pastor, Reverend Edwrin Sutton. The Church as a ministry began in 1836. The church building was built between 1908 and 1910, with the parsonage added in 1914. The one-story, rectangular Gothic Revival church has an attached two-story bell tower topped by a pyramidal roof and a raised basement. The brick building features pointed arched openings and stained glass windows.: 2 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

The Hudson River State Hospital is a former New York state psychiatric hospital which operated from 1873 until its closure in the early 2000s. The campus is notable for its main building, known as a "Kirkbride," which has been designated a National Historic Landmark due to its exemplary High Victorian Gothic architecture, the first use of that style for an American institutional building. It is located on US 9 on the Poughkeepsie-Hyde Park town line. Frederick Clarke Withers designed the hospital's buildings in 1867. Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmsted designed the grounds. It was intended to be completed quickly, but went far over its original schedule and budget. The hospital opened on October 18, 1871 as the Hudson River State Hospital for the Insane and admitted its first 40 patients. Construction, however, was far from over and would continue for another 25 years. A century later, it was slowly closed down as psychiatric treatment had changed enough that large hospitals were no longer needed, and its services had been served by the nearby Hudson River Psychiatric Center until that facility's closure in January 2012. The campus was closed and abandoned in 2003 and fell into a state of disrepair. Authorities struggled with the risk of arson and vandals after suspicion of an intentionally set fire. The male bedding ward, south of the main building, was critically damaged in a 2007 fire caused by lightning. The property was sold to an unnamed buyer in November 2013. The site is currently being developed as a $300 million mixed-use project called Hudson Heritage, which will include 750 residential units, commercial space, medical office space, a hotel, and a conference center.

Dixon House is a historic home located at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York. It was built between 1862 and 1867, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, Gothic Revival style frame dwelling. It features pointed arched windows, a projecting bay, and two-bay front porch with curved brackets and square columns.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Poughkeepsie Almshouse and City Infirmary is a historic almshouse and infirmary complex located at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York. The complex includes five contributing buildings. The almshouse buildings has a three-story, seven-bay, main block flanked by matching two-story, five-bay, wings. It was built in 1868 of brick with wood trim and features Italianate style details. J.A. Wood is credited as the building's architect. The City Infirmary building was built in 1907 and enlarged in 1936. It is a two-story brick and stone building and features a two-story, flat roofed, semi-circular entrance portico. The infirmary closed in 1972. Also on the property are a carriage house, barn, laundry building, combination barn / ice house, and shed. It has been adaptively reused as a satellite campus for Adelphi University. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The station is owned by iHeartMedia and broadcasts at 1,000 watts from a two-tower array adjacent to its radio studios in the Arlington section of the Town of Poughkeepsie. It uses a directional antenna in the daytime, but changes to a non-directional antenna at night, an unusual switch from standard practice where many AM stations are non-directional by day and directional at night. Programming is also heard on FM translator W253BV at 98.5 MHz and on WJIP 1370 AM in Ellenville, New York. Weekdays begin with a local morning show, "Hudson Valley Focus Live with Tom Sipos." The rest of the day features nationally syndicated shows, mostly from co-owned Premiere Networks, including Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Clay Travis & Buck Sexton, Jesse Kelly, Coast to Coast AM with George Noory and This Morning, America's First News with Gordon Deal. Weekends feature shows from Kim Komando, At Home with Gary Sullivan, Leo Laporte-The Tech Guy, Bill Handel on the Law, Sunday Nights with Bill Cunningham, Somewhere in Time with Art Bell and The Jesus Christ Show. Some weekend hours are paid brokered programming. Most hours begin with world and national news from Fox News Radio.
