As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,426 and an area of 9.4 square kilometres (3.6 sq mi). Roddi borders the following municipalities: Alba, La Morra, Monticello d'Alba, Santa Vittoria d'Alba, and Verduno.

Pollentia, known today as Pollenzo (Piedmontese: Polèns), was an ancient city on the left bank of the Tanaro. It is now a frazione (parish) of Bra in the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont, northern Italy. In antiquity Pollentia belonged to the Ligurian Statielli, Augusta Bagiennorum (modern Roncaglia in the Comune of Bene Vagienna) being 16 km to the south. Its position on the road from Augusta Taurinorum (modern Turin) to the coast at Vada Sabatia (modern Vado Ligure, near Savona), at the point of divergence of a road to Hasta (modern Asti), gave it military importance. Decimus Brutus managed to occupy it an hour before Mark Antony in 43 BC. Here Stilicho on April 6, 402, fought the Battle of Pollentia with Alaric I, which though undecided led the Goths to evacuate Italy. The place was famous for its brown wool and pottery. Today it is home to the University of Gastronomic Sciences which offers undergraduate, graduate and masters programs focused on gastronomy and food tourism. According to the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica considerable remains of ancient buildings, including an amphitheater, a theater and a temple were still in existence, although the so-called temple of Diana was more probably a tomb.

The University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) is an international university located in northern Italy. The campus is in Pollenzo, near Bra, a city in the north-west region of Piedmont. Carlo Petrini, founder of the Slow Food Movement, established the university to focus on gastronomic sciences and the organic relationships between food, ecology, and cultures. More than 2,500 students have taken courses at UNISG since it opened in 2004. UNISG offers a variety of courses leading to undergraduate and graduate degrees in areas related to gastronomic sciences, food cultures and heritage, food ecologies, and food communications and management. As part of their curriculum, students every year are engaged in a number of field study trips in Italy and also in other European and extra-European countries.

As of 30 April 2009 it had a population of 750 and an area of 5.6 square kilometres (2.2 sq mi).Barolo borders the following municipalities: Castiglione Falletto, La Morra, Monforte d'Alba, Narzole, and Novello. Barolo is an important wine-producing area noted for its Barolo wine of the same name, and many wineries such as Poderi Colla have vineyards here. Barolo is home to the multi colored art project The Chapel of Barolo by American artist Sol LeWitt and English artist David Tremlett created in 1999. It is a member of the I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy") association.

It is home to one of the best preserved castles in Piedmont.

Grinzane Cavour Castle (Italian: Castello di Grinzane Cavour) is a fortification in Grinzane Cavour, Piedmont, northern Italy. On 22 June 2014, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Aldo Conterno (1931 – May 30, 2012) was an Italian winemaker of eponymous wine producer Poderi Aldo Conterno from the Piemonte region in the district of Langhe, chiefly producing Barolo wines. The winery is located in Monforte d'Alba, and Conterno was widely ranked among Piemonte's foremost producers.
